  1. Welcome aboard. This place is addictive, I surf it daily the info here awesome. As far a becoming a purchase addict I can see it happening but I have not been bitten too bad but I am very focused what I want and what I can pay. You will most certainly E-bay if you dont already. The people here are pretty good people, occasionally a bit opinionated but that is what makes it interesting. One thing you can count on is that somewhere on this forum you can get the answer to just about any audioholic query you pose. It has become my favorite site; my wife thinks I need 12-step and support group. Anyway just wanted to say hi and welcome.
  2. Fact standard retail markup is %300 on average. So you can figure your retailer is making a handsome sum of that. As for listing the MSRP I say no, it gives the edge to the dealer vice the consumer look what happened to cars and the MSRP they created leases to inflate cost of a used car, which artificially inflate the new product price. I can judge by what I hear what it is worth to me. MSRP bad dickering and bargaining good. But hey thats just my opinion I could be wrong!
  3. OK looks like it when through this time Dean check your e-mail. Jim
  4. I am not sure I understand what you are asking
  5. The labels on my La Scala's are so faded you can barely read the S/N's, they have been 2/3 of the way around the world and moved 10 times in 20 years. I don't know how you can maintain the label under normal conditions, to some these labels are very valuable and I suppose they are the only proof that the speakers are in actually Klipsch and not someones interpretation of Klipsch. I never gave them any thought until I joined this forum; I never looked at them for that matter. So now that I have avoided actually answering your question I guess my answer is your question I dont know how valuable are they indeed?
  6. Outstanding glad to hear you are getting what you deserve and glad to see things go the right way!
  7. Best option ...don't buy them.. Buy used or new but buy Klipsch!
  8. You still have the Heresy's ...were square! I have not been a forum member very long but I have seen that the people on this forum are willing to offer help in what ever form its needed. I have read so many of your posts and learned from them. When things slide downward it sucks I know, having friends and family offer a hand up can make things a little more bearable, if we did that for you then it was more than worth it. You have given your advice and assistance here to countless folks so if it comes back to you youve earned it. No one should have to sell their stuff just to put beans on the plate. So you enjoy those Heresys and the up turn in fortune that is due your way. One last thing is to give Dean his props for being the original good guy that he is, thanks for doing the leg work to organize this.
  9. Yeah there is a thread open on these already they are very nice looking. I think its in 2 Channel though. I was very much taken aback by their unique appearance. Not stock parts but they are beauties so much so they deserve another thread or 2.
  10. Sorry to hear of your trials, please vent at will. My Father in-law passed away from Lymphoma- actually the chemo was worse for him in the end the cancer used it as a "host" to feed off of. You mothers decision is a absolute impossibility for anyone to understand who does not have to make the decision themselves. She has to choose her way to go out. I cannot fathom the weight of such a decision to make but she has to make her own journey. All you can do is love and support her. Know this though you are not alone. You an y our family are in our prayers God Bless!
  11. I will have to PP from home, my network at work blocks cookies.
  12. count me in too...ugh what number am I? Also never used PAY PAL could you include some details.
  13. " seem like I was listening to a CD in analog (no surround) and my center channel was active (my surrounds weren't). But later I thought I had things set the same way and no center channel. It may be my imagination, but was my center channel active when I was in the surround off mode listening to a CD?" If you have a good sweet spot projection and good imaging you will here sonic images that sound like you center is active. Its all part of the stereo effect. Well-positioned and properly set up soundstages do that. This is something Klipsch speakers excell at when placed properly
  14. "No - Dont use two Heresys!" I may be wrong here but I thought marksdad was referring to swapping the roles of the La Scala's and Heresy's such that use the Heresy's as mains and the La Scala's as center front and rear. I too disagree with this approach because even though the center channel carries up to 70 75 % of the content it should not overwhelm you mains. I agree with most of the recommendations here in that go with a 3rd La Scala for the center if you have room and use a Heresy if not. I would not use two Heresy's as a center front rig though. I would use them as front and rear centers. Hey you have a good problem here you have a workable solution that you can improve upon but do not have to right away. I should be troubled in this way
  15. Just took another look on E-bay these are going for $18 for the set of 2. I am not sure who is bidding on these but whomever it is need to find the Klipsch web site or learn 1-800-554-7724
  16. Q-MAN, Thanks for posting the new pics, I never saw a clear picture of your false cornered K-Horns clearly before, very nice I like the look of the JBL 2404 tweeters mounted below the mid horns. I've said it before and I'll say it again your work is exceptional, your whole rig looks great. I just showed it to my wife and her comment was you should do customized rigs for people.
  17. Those were sweet looking 61's. I to am not sure they were Klipsch cabinets or customs but they look outstanding. I agree with Q-MAN if I made them I would charge the moon for them. Actually if they were mine theyd be in my system. I'd love to have a pair of K-Horns, just not in the cards at the moment. Anyway they looked great.
  18. Sorry was not aware your Belle Klipsch was your center channel. You need a Sanyo projector.
  19. I would set it up and see how you like it. You are the one who needs to be satisfied with what you've got. If you like your sound your good to go. You will get the best timbre match by going with the 35's over the 25's but can you detect the difference is the question I would ask myself. I am not sure of what the diffence in specs is but as I said I would go with the old how does it sound test. You can always upgrade later. Set up your system and enjoy it for a while, unless you have a limited time to get full value for your return.
  20. I got the P/N and price directly from Klipsch parts dept. If you paid $8 a year and a half ago and the price was 2.26 then I would definitely complain. I just ordered 4 for $14+ including tax and shipping. Yeah you should have a gripe on this one.
  21. Thanks, They seemed to me to be metal (Aluminum) horns but I just wanted to make sure. The rope caulk idea sounds interesting I will probably try it when I do the ALK xover mod. One speaker at a time to A/B it for effectiveness.
  22. If you use cable and are getting a faint high-pitched squeal I would be most apt to say its your set. As you are receiving signals from within a network ad the likelihood of external RFI is virtually eliminated.
  23. Ok, I had a small pair of Polk RT-1's for my rear surrounds and now have a set of RB-15's in their place until I can fill my set up in with Heritage units. The Klipsch have more presence, better clarity, they definitely announce their presence much better. They are a lot more efficient and have much greater detail. All around the Klipsch put comparable Polk into the also ran column. I do like Polks equipment but IMHO Klipsch is a much more versatile speaker and I believe they sound much better. Again this is my opinion but having had both Ill stay with the Klipsch!!!! This is a glowing endorsement given the woofer issue I had with Klipsch when my right one fell onto the floor, but yeah go with the Klipsch. They are really more noticeable on multichannel music than the Polks ever hoped to be and their HT performance speaks for itself. Absolutely no rattle from the grill covers.
  24. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=3276&item=3091716034&rd=1 These are at $12 right now on E-bay.....why only $2.26 ea from Klipsch P/N 070201...I don't get it sometimes.
