  1. Gospel group -------------Imperials Thanks and have fun
  2. Okay guys and gals, I have gotten into vinyl and I want all the Imperials albums in next to mint condition. I have found several but most have lots of pops and hisses. I want some clean stuff. I grew up on these guys and I think I have all the CDs but now want the vinyl. If anyone out there can help I would be greatful.
  3. You need only understand one word to sum up Americans overweight problems. EXERCISE Our grandparents did it in the form of a lot of manual labor, what percent of our population is performing manual labor? Not near as many today. I also think we are processing our selves to death. CLA s found in WHOLE MILK dairy products help burn fats, when you skim it you loose the CLA. Go back to two 8oz glasses of whole milk per day for your dairy and you will feel/see a difference.
  4. COOL!!!!!!!!!! So are you going to stay in one spot or travel the river? I think it would be fun to do a spot every three or for days. I think I would plan to move after spending three nights. Or maybe not,,,,,,do you want to travel and camp or just fish? I want to go on a canoe trip and float for five to seven hours a day and try to rely on fishing to get our food (packing food just in case). What size tent are you pitching? You cooking with wood or sterno? This sounds fun, can I come along? Oh, Oh, you can do it on a wooden float and it will be just like Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn! What are you packing? I am looking for a recommended packing list for those wanting to travel light. I want to get our kids hiking and camping so we can do the Grand Canyon some day.
  5. You stated the obvious. If you are just starting then you can check ebay. I did well with the attitude that anything less than a dollar per album was okay (which included shipping), but I strived for 50 cents per record. It is pretty easy if you are just starting. Now get the word out. You would be suprised how many people have albums sitting around. My wife made it know at her work that her husband was a nut and had accumulated a few hundred albums. Before you know it she is coming home with three boxes (584) albums from a co-worker who said "here, do with them as you like". There was almost every Beatles ablum in that box "UNOPENED!!!!!!!!" That was pretty cool to cut the shrink wrap and be the first to play an album. I took the ones that I did not want to a record store and we worked out a deal. If I have less than 10 they let me use them as 50 percent off coupons.
  6. I had my identity stolen once. Someone opened two cards in my name and ran a bill up several thousand dollars. One card happened to be from a company that I already had a card from. They called my current phone number in my current state to verify my residence in another state, two states away. They did this after about 8k had been rung up. I figured out who had done it(it was an individual sitting behind a desk and he had been asked to run a credit report on me, came up good and he had all the info he needed). I called the card company and informed them that the individual who had stolen my identity was sitting in an office wearing the suit he had purchased three days before with the card that had my name. The card company told me to call the police. I called the police wear the guy lived and they told me I needed to call the police where I lived. I called the police where I lived and they told me I needed to call the police there. This went on for a couple of weeks and I finally was able to talk with someone at the card company who would clear this dept from my name. I divorced myself from the situation. The individual wad never arrested even though they knew exactly where he was sitting. When they finally decided to do something the guy had moved away and they called me to see if I could help locate him. I no longer carry a card from that company (because I closed my account).
  7. Before I ever knew about this board I never thought about purchasing used Klipsch speakers. So..........I have a Bose Accoustamas 3.1 system and I used 501s for the rear. I now use them as the A's with LaScalas as the B's in the Kitchen/Greatroom, the Lascalas are on the floor of course and the Bose are mounted on the ceiling. I think it sounds pretty good. The sub unit is set back in a recess in the wall and that really helps the poor Bass. I am just not one to sell something. Once I have it I have a hard time letting go. I have a radio shack amp and tuner in my trunk that I used in a store and they have been in my trunk for about a year.
  8. You have to love pictures! I think (in my case at least) with the age of digital we have lost "the pictures". Keep them and cherish them. I am sorry to hear about your loss.
  9. mrock, I was here to write the same thing. I bet we see the commercial before the end of next week. It was amazing that the ball paused and staring you in the face was the nike logo. That shot alone probably just made Tiger millions more. But you are right the pause "just do it" and then the ball drops
  10. As a high school math teacher, this thread is making me cringe.
  11. ebay and feedback is very important. I have purchased from folks that are new and have zero feedback but have emailed them prior to bidding and asked if I won, would they ship me the item before I pay. I have done this on several occasions and everyone wins. They may have been sent away on business or personal problem, give it time.
  12. Tom, I love Savannah GA.!!!!!!!!!!!!!I was stationed at Hunter and lived there for five years. If it was not for the "no see ums" I would move there. I still may move there if I can find work!! My wife and family is from Savannah. The only think I ever saw at the civic center was a David Copperfield show before he started doing the TV thing. Can't wait to come back for a visit.
  13. Well, James Taylor was just because he is the closest to the area. For some reason I have a concert bug but after searching do not want to come close to the cost of the tickets. I will purchase a DVD and enjoy the concert from the comfort of my own home. The area is looking into an outdoor pavilion that will seat only about 2500 and,The Doobie Brothers were mentioned. That is the Only Outdoor concert I have ever been to. THE WILD HOG BOOGIE I do not remember the year, 1980ish I went to several concerts in college but we had to be very well behaved
  14. I paid 300 which included shipping. BUT, they really do not look good at all, but they sound great and they are in the garage.(Pull em inside if I want to mess around with 7.1). So I would think if you wanted them for a shop, keep looking for a banged up pair that still sound great, or spend the extra money for good cosmetic ones. Mine actually would clean up nice with some light sanding and BLO, there are no major dings or scratches.
  15. I wanted to take the wife to see James Taylor and got on line to search for tickets. The cheapest I could find was 135 each and those were in the nose bleed section so we would probably be looking at a screen. With the Concert DVDs available I think I would prefer to buy one of those and watch the screen at home, with the klipsch HT, I love the sound. So I would really have to WANT to experience the in person show to spend the money now days.
  16. hehe, I teach Highschool and it is really bad when you meet parents of your students and you realize you are much older than the parents. Course, like I said we started having kids later in life. I find that I am usually older than the parents of my highschool students but I have kids in gradeschool.
  17. Last week a 16 year old girl flipped an SUV because she lost control when she was reaching for her cell phone. I hate cell phones. I laugh when I over hear some of the conversations. Kind of like a 13 year old I know, she will call our house and leave a message on the machine, but then she calls back every 3 minutes. I sit here and laugh. I no longer answer the phone, 9 out of 10 times it is not for me and on the 10th time when it is for me there is a 90 percent chance that it is a telemarketer.
  18. I have friends who are my age that have kids in college so I do not know why this has got me thinking. I get a quarterly alumni magazine and the latest issue has a picture of one of my classmates with his son starting college. For some reason that has made me think,,,,,,,WOW We started late and our kids are in the 4th and 7th grades, this guy is going to be a granddad before mine are out of college,,,,,,,,,,,WOW
  19. hmm, last I heard, there was not much work going on in Hope! They build Heritage line any other place?
  20. sometimes you have to drive. there is a pair on ebay that may get overlooked because they never mention the name La Scala (boxed theatre speakers), if you can get them at a good price it may be time for a road trip.
  21. For the Academy you need the "Dish Barrel" box from U-Haul. It is 18 by 18 by 30. Now find enough sheet styrofoam to surround the speaker and fit tightly in the box. This puts the speaker in the center with several inches to absorb any drops. Oh, one other thing is the heavy duty corner reenforcers. About 30 bucks to ship.
  22. Yes, I remember that show. The daughter is allergic to sunlight.
  23. oh, what is the Denon, what is the Denon? If it is a 3805 for a good price I want it!!!!!!!!!
  24. Well, I had a few hours to kill but had prepared and looked on line for klipsch dealers in the area I was visiting. I was excited because they listed this particular store as a Heritage dealer. Now, this store dealt mainly in TVs and stereo "systems" (they would give you a better discount if you were purchasing a system). Salesmen EVERYWHERE, no one knew what Heritage even meant. Made it a point to ask all of them just to see if anyone would even relate the term to Klipsch. There was a room (nice theatre room) set up with an RF-7 system. I was wanting to spend some time playing with the sub. Rounded a saleman up who would take off the ballgame and put in a music DVD, I did not really care if it had video, I was more interested in audio and base. So I am playing with volumns and adjusting the sub, then going back to sit and have a listen (while reading the stores sales flyer). In walks new salesman I had not met, he started talking about the great clarity of the projector and the HD reception and made comment about the baseball game that was in HD, "if they hit the ball in the direction of the camera you will duck", so he turns out the lights and changes to the ballgame, and then walks out. Hmm, so much for my sub demo as well as reading the sales flyer. I went and found him, folded the flyer and handed it to him and told him it became hard to read in the dark. Now I will say that I probably would have not purchased anything yesterday, but I will probably not go back. Worries me about prices when the sales staff outnumbers the customers by 10 to 1.
  25. Okay Drwho, the bad part about comparing is the switching of wires, is there a way you can set up both speakers on say some type of switch box so you can go back and forth. If I tried to listen to a certain segment, by the time I got the wires changes I had forgotten what the other REALLY sounded like. The test I liked the most was the "is it playing test". Sitting in the sweet spot everything should sound like it is coming from the center, even with the center turned all the way up both (KLF and Academy)were "seamless"
