Bill ---------------- I'll have to agree with this statement from Bill , this was one movie that i thought sounded better in the dolby mode than the DTS mode . In a properly set up speaker array ( mine is all heritage for HT ) i find that DTS brings the rear channels to life more than dolby. Other than that i find a big volume swing in DTS , from dialog to sound effects can be huge. At times i find myself turning up the volume to hear the people talking but as soon as a sound effect comes along it throws you right out your seat . Dolby seems more uniform, but all in all i prefure DTS .
  2. Thanks John Finally a non-conformer willing to express exactly what i've been thinking for years. I've done all the network tweeks , the money spent is just not worth the results in my opinion. Tell me more !! Is this a current production tweeter ? How about the mid horn, i've got a pair of 511b's kicking around in the garage someplace. Do you recommend useing the stock klipschorn driver or a replacement ? How about a better tighter sounding bass driver for the lower bin , i've always found the stock unit very fat sounding. I like my bass tight and snappy the volume is not an issue as long as its clean sounding . Do you build those networks yourself ?
  3. 12AU7 - NOS mullards or Tung-sols are fine. 5R4 Rectifiers don't make a huge difference but my personal choice is the RCA globe style GY series.
  4. Hmmmmmmm !!! I suppose these are some kind of hard earned trade secrets of something ??? Paul klipsch whole design has stood the test of time , that much we all know. But by keeping his cabinets in tacked , there must be other drivers that fit the mid horn and most definatly other tweeter options. Not to mention bass drivers. Just fishing for info from the pro's with this gear. I'll go drop a line on a few other forums and see what i can dig up, yet stay somewhat within spec of the stock crossovers.
  5. I'd like to try one of those commercial sub woofers in a HT system and see how they work in a combined space .

Do some research, but I dunno how long that coupon will work. ---------------- Thanks for the heads up .
  7. What kind of success have you guys had with trying different drivers in your k-horns , scala's , belles . There are tweeters out there worth twice there weight in gold , was wondering if any were a better fit than klipschs choices. Some of these newer ribbon tweeters are crystal clear compared to 15 year old stuff.
  8. Your not missing much moon , the music is great and getting a chance now may well be your last . But there stage presence is nothing to scream about, i've seen them 4 times live . Now if you want to be entertained ( like the band or not ) Metallica puts on one of the best modern day stage shows " period " . Lots of SPL plenty of PYRO and for some reason this band brings out the girls that love to lift there tops .
  9. I agree with the rest of the guys , mains take most of the info anyway so thats a good place to upgrade.

My opinion goes with Nero. It's more streamlined than Roxio (I had DVD & CD creator pro 6 on my computer... It just seemed really clunky and slow.) BUT there are some features in Roxio that you won't find in Nero so... I'd just say audition both if you can. ---------------- So can you copy other DVD'S ? movies ? OR just put static picture files on the disc for playback on a dvd player ?
  11. AAHHRRR !!! It's a go nowhere thread anyway so thought i'd have some fun too.
  12. So how many devious ways could this add be taken ?? I could think of a hundred different way to take this picture . Rappers don't bother me , i think of them like sandrats . Just one step behind the cow. Problem is they have to publicly express there lack of talent which pisses off most normal human beings.

I remember a year or so ago that andy built some blank scala's out of oak , not sure if anyone here bought a pair or not .

  17. Are you talking about on the front ? If so thats the bass bin and yes most of the time they are not covered, but i've seen fronts for them.
  18. Personally i like the looks of the model 19 for home use .

It simulates "elliptic filter" of these later networks. The extra capacitor adds a "notch" which sharpens the tweeter filter skirt and reduces the insertion loss at the same time. You get more highs and less lows into the tweeter. Al K. ---------------- GEZZZ AL , thanks for the info but you might as well typed that in french .lol Little over my head at this point , i'm almost lost in crossover land. I know enough to make myself dangerous but not usefull, if you catch my drift.
  20. Bet they will make lovly music together . congrats all around .
  21. We had a thread about this website in general questions awhile back. Very pricy stuff
  22. Is this a mod just for AA cross overs ?
