I think from the owner's description that they were the cane grilles. Would that be right? I would like go back to original but I don't think that the cane material is available any more so I may have to find some grilles in good used condition. Are Cornwall 2's differently sized? Would Cornwall 2's have come in the cane material at all? I'm wondering if I find grilles somewhere if I have to worry about them being Cornwall 2 grilles and not fitting? and finally if Cornwall 2's did come in the cane grille, how can I tell them apart from Cornwall 1 grilles? Thanks for your help. ---------------- the cane is no longer available and a company called wendellfabrics.com sells what they call cane under their mellotone section # MD4134 i don't know anything about the 2's and i doubt you will find a set in good used condition. there is a set on ebay that runs out in 4 hrs that looks to be in mint condition

The cabinets the ebay pair presumably come out of are also 1963s, with serial numbers about 300 higher than mine. The guy who introduced me to Klipsch speakers had orange surrounds on his Heresies he bought (I think) in 1968. His brother bought a pair in 1972 with black surrounds. That's why I'm guessing on the timeline.) ---------------- Captn Bob, the pair of cabinets that these woofers came out of had the letter G in the serial number which would make them 1968 not 63

Not clock based. ---------------- i don't see how sniping is cheating. you put in your bid within the allotted time just like everybody else did. just because the winning bidder put his bid in at the closing minutes and had a higher bid is not cheating. i put in my max bid within the last 2 minutes, go to the kitchen and get a cold Bud, which takes about 2 minutes, come back and hit refresh and see if i won. if i won great if i didn't means i did't bid high enough. just my 2 cents
  11. richard, like i said in an earlier post, you have a pair of the best looking speakers ( Belles )ever made.
  12. just went to my local pack and ship store and they have a roll of tissue paper that looks identical to the stuff inside the cornwall. lady told me they buy it from a company called KIMPAK. i will get the exact model number the next time i go.
  13. sit in your favorite listening position, hold the meter out in front of you and adjust all speakers to the same level. set it on 70 or 80 db.

Maybe you were only 98% sure? ---------------- Tony, i just tried to tell you what UPS did to me when i had some damage to my shippment. glad you got to keep them. Russ
  16. also, and this is cool. the pie slice logos are clear. Think I've heard of them, but hadn't seen them before. ---------------- i have a pair of the clear pie slice logos that came with my 71 vertical corns.

Edges and corners are fine and for an old birch, it's nice to see it still naked without some horrible maple stain and poly like most of them have! Looks like it was hung somewhere, so might be a unit from BAR, be sure to confirm condition of drivers before purchasing. I'd guess $275-$300 for this single might be fair. Michael- no connection to seller. ---------------- us midwestern boys would have already bought this, huh Michael
  18. texas boys don't know what your missing. a little sand paper goes a long way.
  19. ebay #5761990254 in Houston, Texas no shipping. looks like a 1975 model from the N in the serial number
  20. Richard, pull both tweeters out and send them down to bob and let him work his magic on them. you have one of the most beautiful set of belles ever made and at a great price. i paid 2 grand for my 77's last year and i had to send one of my k-55's down to bob to get it fixed. pull the tweeters out of your corns and install them in your belles and enjoy.
  21. my first thought was a Y but if he bought them NEW in 1980???

At the time, I absolutely thought these were the best sounding speakers aside from some of the other Klipsch offerings... The name tags read: Type: CBR Serial: 244796 & 244797 Inspected: Bill Gibson Tested: NW Bradford Question: Are these Cornwall's or Cornwall II's ? All the information on this site points to Cornwall since I purchased them in 1980. However, in my original warranty/product envelope, I have a document titled "Instructions For Cornwall II". Thanks. PS - these are in showroom condition. I still have the original Klipsch boxes stored in the rafters in my garage ---------------- these are cornwall 1's. if you purchased these NEW in 1980 then the second 4 in the serial number is actually a U. 24U796& 7. they did use plastic for the midrange horn in the early 80's. 401, 501, 601, 701 were all plastic
