  1. I'd say either they are shady or are lazy idiots. Maybe shady lazy idiots. I dunno. I can see some shady guy trying to find such a thing at a pawn shop or stealing it after he gets a price from you. Yes, I'm thinking that some are just looking for pricing without putting out any real effort, and probably don't have the item to begin with if they can't furnish photos. Oh well, no big loss.
  2. This may not help you in the near term, but if you are making a road trip to the Chicago area, you could stop by my place for a bit. I'm close by South Bend, IN.
  3. I occasionally post Wanted ads on CL for various things, mainly speakers, amps, etc. More often than not, I will receive responses from people that say..."Make me an offer on X"........so, because I've now become used to this, I will be very nice and say something like..."Please provide a few photos and your asking price, and I will be happy to make an offer, however I really can't make a realistic determination until I can see some photos and a description, thanks very much..." Then I'll get, "Make me an offer on these, otherwise I'm not going to waste my time taking pictures"..... I've just about given up with a great majority of these folks...too much drama, and apparently too difficult for them to follow through.
  4. Late April would be best for me, as I'm making the trek to Hope, and will need time to recover...Not to mention my schedule is getting crazy with grand kids, yard projects, speaker projects continuing.... By the way, is anyone else from the Chicago/Midwest area going to Hope as well?

    'jailbroken' T.V. ?

Oh please, not another paradigm shift!! I can only handle so many of those....
  6. Emo has a great warranty, and return policy....if you don't like it, send it back within 30 days. No questions asked.
  7. Pathetic display, and not that good.
  8. Although I follow the stories, I pay no attention to early speculation. What's the point? Until a final report comes out from the NTSB or other semi-reliable agency, there's no sense in speculation, And even then, so called conclusions may be sketchy...IMHO
  9. I have not actually and wouldn't really know which models to focus on. Well, since you are looking at 5 channel, there are really only two from Emotiva to consider in the higher end range, the XPR-5, and the XPA-5. https://emotiva.com/products/emotiva/amplifiers-0
  10. Wondering if you have looked at any of the Emotiva gear? I have owned several of their amps in the past, and felt that they were a great value. I have since moved on to mostly tube amps and vintage receivers, but was happy with the Emo equipment when I had it installed.
  11. BTW, where are you located? We can help you find lots of goodies.....and of course there may be someone close by that would volunteer to have you listen to a few items to help your decision.
  12. Not only because they bring me cool amps like this, but because they are great people too. We went "tube hunting" this past weekend at a few different sales and other spots, and came away with several nice scores. 45 power tubes, 6SN7's, a 5V4, and less than 10 extraordinary watts that absolutely crank the LSI's....David Sanborn, Yellowjackets, Tony Bennett never sounded so good...oh yea, and SRV too....
  13. You might also want to check the wires/connectors which run between the high and low bins. The input from your amp comes in to the high bin, which then feeds the low bin. Obviously, loose/broken connectors/wires between the two will cause issues. Failing any kind of resolution, let me know where you are located, and I'll come and pick them up this weekend... Welcome to the forum.
  14. Sorry if this has been posted previously, but just saw it. http://www.inc.com/molly-reynolds/4-ways-to-get-millenials-to-buy-your-product.html?cid=sf01001
  15. Would love to take a vacation and pick those up for that price!
  16. Ditch that idea....pronto!! IMHO, a 13x13 room is a bit too small for La Scala's, Cornwall's, or Chorus II's. Just because the room measures that doesn't mean your effective listening area is that size. Did you plan on standing on the back wall? I didn't think so...Personally, I would give consideration to Forte II's, KG4's, or a pair of Heresy's with a sub. You're going to want a sub with your HT eventually, so there you go.
  17. Wow, if I remember correctly, those Kappa 15C's were going for a bit more a while back, something like $159 each....great price on them now. Get em while they're hot!
  18. Well, this just sucks....had a doc appt. this am at 9, finished at 10, came out to the car, and had just a very light dusting of snow. Nothing falling then. Temp is about 28. Went home, down to the basement office, back up two hours later, and we now have almost 2 inches on the ground, still coming down, roads are a mess... Wife and I both have to go out later, not looking forward to that. Time for another cup of Monsoon Malabar.
  19. Very clean, great veneer, sound terrific, risers in great shape, midwest locale....???? Friend wants to sell them, I have no interest.
  20. great... except no klipsch??? Yea, no tubes, no Klipsch? I suppose you could make up the rest of the 20K with a power cord and pair of speaker cables.....
  21. Since Opus is in the Chicago area, I would suspect he has something to do with this delay. He's probably doing some "quality assurance" on the unit.....
  22. If you are developing some kind of contact list for the badges, please add me to that list...thanks.
