  1. Well, there you go...USNRET described it perfectly. Any other questions, we are happy to help...
  2. As one who has had a medium amount of experience with modding some of the Heritage models, I really don't think that there's any kind of sliding scale of "quality" or value or worth, based on what those mods might happen to be. Some folks make changes such as updating crossovers, diaphragms, wiring, and I think can legitimately call the results at least "true to the originals".....Others make changes that are not even close to what was intended for that model, and hopefully they enjoy them, and then if selling, will disclose what's been done. Obviously what you think is better or worse is very subjective, but then you would have had to have had a baseline to compare that too....Just for an example, I am currently taking a pair of empty Cornwall I cabinets that I got from a friend, installing a K-76 titanium diaphragm tweeter, Chorus K-61 driver and mid horn, and a huge Kenwood woofer, with appropriate crossovers. I'll be putting in some additional insulation within the cablinet, reinforcing all of the interior joints, and adding some gasket material around the back panel. Is it a Cornwall? No. Will it sound fantastic? i hope so, but don't know yet (it should). What's it worth? Who cares.....
  3. Had never heard of it, and a friend has a chance to get it, seems to be in really good shape. No idea of it's quality, value, etc? 9 tubes 4: 12AX7, 4: 6BQ5, and one 6CA4
  4. You had to crank the Emo's to 75 to 80 to make your Heresy's "loud"??? Somehow that doesn't feel right....Are you sure everything is set properly? Check again...? And, btw, when you say loud (and do you have an SPL meter?), what does that mean? Just wondering and trying to understand....
  5. Wow, this topic really went down the tubes in a hurry....Next!!
  6. For a garage receiver and background noise, I have a nice 2230, recently serviced, all pots and switches Deoxit'd/FaderLube.
  7. It never ceases to amaze me that people actually take the time to do that....
  8. Any caps replaced? No caps replaced. All voltages adjusted to spec. New power switch and silver button thingie. Everything Deoxit'd, FaderLube, and cleaned.
  9. As I am not familiar with all of the newfangled personal music systems available, am asking for advice and recommendations here...Does not have to be Klipsch. My wife would like a decent speaker she could use to pair with her new iPhone 6 in the kitchen or elsewhere. She listens to PBS podcasts and some music. Please, somebody put me out of my misery.....
  10. When I originally posted this, I had intended to price several of these items a little lower for my Klipsch brethren, but somehow didn't....anyway, here is the edited list. Let me know if you are interested in anything, and I will send photos and full descriptions to you quickly. Trying to price items reasonably based on condition and installed upgrades. 12. A very nice thought. And, "sexy" is not quite enough...."Lustful" is more like it....I look at mine (Belle's) everyday, and think...damn....
  13. I have the Elliptrac HF and the B&C driver in one of my pairs of Corns. Very nice. I think you would enjoy them.
  14. In order to help your sale, I would definitely recommend better, clearer photos of all sides. You may also want to thoroughly dust all surfaces, and then wipe them down with an appropriate furniture polish. Makes a big difference. Good luck.
  15. Hi, and welcome. OK, so yes, you are saying that the "thinness" is from the speakers...that was already confirmed, sort of, by reference_head, and he suggested a sub, which you are already using. And yes, it is certainly possible that you are used to your JBL's. You've upgraded the crossovers to the A/4500, and gone to the CT-125 tweeter. Now you would like to know how to tame the slight brightness on some recordings and smooth out the speakers overall. And you are asking what to do with the K-55, which seems to be last on your list. Do I have all of that correct? I'm sure that there will be lots of other questions (You asked for it!! ) But I have to ask something seemingly very basic, but which a lot of people fail to consider....what is your listening environment? Do you have hardwood floors or carpet? Size of your room? Upholstered furniture? Any acoustic treatment at all? Ceiling height and composition? How far away are you sitting, and how far apart are the Scala's? Are they in a corner, against a wall, toed in, flat? All of these things have to be considered, in addition to your components. And, of course, your source material. Some of it may naturally be brighter, and/or not particularly well recorded, another consideration. So anyway, it's getting late and I'll give others a chance here. Good luck with your investigation, you've come to the right place. Try not to feel overwhelmed, most everybody just wants to help....
  16. Well, there might have been some sense in that....could be that low price means low quality, and by repricing it higher the seller could have appealed to a different group. Something similar happened to me quite some time ago when I was selling my first house....had it priced at a certain level, and no lookers and no offers for 3 months. Raised the price by $25K, and it sold in a week. Could have been coincidence, but then, maybe not.
  17. Guns and Rose' toenail fungus support groups But neither one of those is nearly as swell as here....
  18. On AK, he's done the same thing, but has since found out that they are CF-1's....
  19. Correct a mundo mr schu looking at those too
  20. Doubt it. You need area rugs/upholstered furniture to damp reflections and or other room treatments Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
