  1. You better get to that neighborhood garage sale early, or I'm going to grab up those 901's.....Happy Birthday....now go back to work....
  2. I would never use a belt sander, even on my bottom.... Now, maybe on her bottom....
  3. I have a pair of raw oak klipsch speakers. Have never been finished, out of the box raw. So, I would like to put a medium dark finish on them, and rather than recommendations on colors etc, I would like more "technical" advice on how they should (or should) be sanded prior to stain, fine steel wool, orbital sander, etc, etc. Wood conditioner first, then (maybe) Watco or another product, then topcoats, etc. Any advice is very much appreciated. I have some experience with rehabbing beat up veneer to a certain degree, but I'm feeling like the raw wood needs a different approach. Appreciate your help.
  4. Contact Justin Weber at ampsandsound.com. He will build you a tube amp that will knock your socks off. Keep the XPA-5 with the sub and the center, and you will be very, very happy....have fun.... http://ampsandsound.com/products/amps/stereo-15-special-edition/
  5. I offered 2 goats and an old stuffed raccoon, but was turned down....
  6. Female goat? Somehow I don't think it mattered....
  7. It would have to be 2 goats and mint Jubilee's.... I raised dairy goats for a number of years just for fun and cheese, and I know they are only happy when in a "herd", even if it's just two....And, that looks like quite the "herd" above....yikes.
  8. And actually, I ended up haggling with the owners, and got them for $25 and a goat.
  9. Wow, what a great set of garage speakers!! (note the door behind...) Those are pretty spectacular....
  10. I saw a pair of P-39's for $200 in Budapest pawn shop. I bought those....
  11. That is correct, a separate phono preamp would be required, but I believe this cost would be fairly minimal and worthwhile. http://www.amazon.com/s/?ie=UTF8&keywords=phono+turntable+preamp&tag=googhydr-20&index=electronics&hvadid=50337785071&hvpos=1t1&hvexid=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=16040188152955396037&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=b&hvdev=c&ref=pd_sl_27g0id9x9y_b
  12. For $650, this will do very well now and in the foreseeable future for what you are describing... http://www.amazon.com/Yamaha-RX-A740BL-7-2-Channel-AVENTAGE-Receiver/dp/B00J8HV5D2/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1410321737&sr=8-2&keywords=yamaha+aventage
  13. My first, 63 Ford Fairlane 500, tan exterior, red leather interior with red metal dash and red steering wheel, all original. Wow, how I would love to have that car again....oh yea, and bench seats....a real "chick magnet" for sure!!
  14. You do realize of course that you can drive your speakers to ear splitting levels with the input power equivalent of a chipmunk spinning a wheel in a glass cage.... Seriously..... Seriously though....you don't need much at all. Go for a high quality tube amp (as made by our friend Justin Weber at ampsandsound.com), and you will be a very, very happy man.
  15. Find someone to do the veneer work, get some references, see some photos of their work. Don't worry, be happy!!
  16. I guess it would depend on what the damage is and your budget. Fully veneering a pair of La Scala won't be cheap, or easy, but would present the best appearance for sure. Keep us posted!!
  17. The cost for shipping to Europe or Asia would be interesting......
  18. Looking forward to more photos, looking very cool so far!! Wish you were closer, I'd have you do a few pairs of speakers for me!
  19. Yea, well, I think I will leave this discussion for another part of the forum, rather than this thread. And it's spelled Hoke, kind of like Hokey.....
  20. I seriously doubt he's going to spend any time behind bars, except maybe slinging Bud Light....
  21. Well, hey, the Vick issue is in the past, and the Rice issue is now. No comparison. Left uppercut to the face, drag out of the elevator, see ya.
  22. Soon! at your local Baltimore roller rink, a battle for the ages...Ray Rice vs. Tonya Harding in a classic football vs. figure skating matchup that will once and for all answer the age old question of who are the better, more conditioned, most cerebral athletes in the world of sports, .....or not........Tune in to SkankTV for all the details, and the time in your area....
  23. Well, I think they actually started at $499, so not sure how that works....
