Nice little city! ---------------- Being from Chiaco there too many to name. But my favorite is: New Rebozo on Madison street in Oak park. Amazing central American Mexican food.
  6. I found this ebay listing. These appear to be from the 50's or 60's. But i would think that they ARE pre 901 for sure. Interesting how a company that is so hard line on sales and trade marks would forget the past. I am not sure how to post a link. Item #5783105146

Why not keep those profesinal photos and decorate your room with them? I seem to rember a cold bare wall or two in one of your post's. Roy

Reading the "Where did you first hear Klipsch" thread, reminded me of the days when Flanners in Mayfair had there back rooms full of Klipsch and McIntosh. No More!!!! Are you looking for somewhere to buy Klipsch Heritage in Wisconsin? I am friends with the local Cinema / Pro dealer. He also sells Heritage. He knows his stuff, but does not have a showroom. JM ---------------- JM, I hear what you are saying. Sad really, the big box stores are putting sooo many people into a "Ford Escort" while telling them they are getting a "Crown Vic". Last time I was in Flanners was about 3 years ago. They did a tune up, and check out of my Mac gear before selling it. One salesman out on the floor asked me "Is that a C33? I have always wanted to see one of those" Oh boy, how things have changed. We have a couple OK stores here and in Green bay. But the attatubes are enough to keep most away. I had a good friend ask me o help him with a system. He wanted to combine used finds and some new. As we were checking things out at one of the stores, the "expert" there made the following statement. "Never hearing your buddys system, I am confident that "I" could put together a system to match the room for $10,000 or under that would smoke his.

As for a local store with similar values, I've found that you will have to drive a bit to Simply Stereo in Schaumburg, they have the same small stereo store expertise and are the closest in style to the Hi Fi Hutch of days gone by. ---------------- I will have to check it out. What lines do the sell?

But that has nothing to do with the sub par sound that the TA9000Es produced, not to mention the older Sony junk. I am not a die hard krell fan. But I guess for HT gear it is a good sound. I did not mean to imply that Krell is listening utopia, far from it.

Public annoyance? O.D.ing on Tom Cruise aside, is anyone planning on seeing War of the Worlds? I'll have to say, his personal life is getting completely annoying and over publicized, but I still love his movies. ---------------- It depends on the state law. It is worded and detailed different from state to state. Here in Wi and in Il they COULD be charged with assault (clas x mist). But most likely be charged with BATTERY (clas x fel), becuse of the use of a object, in this case the water. And depending on the DA's mood that day even Agrivated Battery. A sad display really. I am not anti Tom nor pro Tom, but it could have been acid, stain, blood, ect....
  15. Location is in many cases a big price factor. I would pay more to drive fewer miles. Less chance of damage, road trip for new toy, both positives. For me 3~4 hours is the max drive though. if your budget allows, they are close enough for you, BUY THEM. Still less than new ones. IMHO
  16. This may sound crazy, but the local performing Arts center had a "boomy" stage. They dumped peanuts (packing squiggles) into the space. Packed tight and flooring covered. Sound man said it worked great. They have a great venue and sound there.
  17. I can recall a number of posts that deal with sub par or just plain rip off shops. But I don't recall seeing one that talked about the really great ones. Not just because of the brands that they did or did not deal. But because of the help, advise, and personel that worked there. Flash back to early late 70's through mid 80's to: Stereo systems: (had stores in Aurora,IL, Joliet, IL and one that I don't recall) What a good group of guys, Bob B, and the other Bob helped me many a time. Here takes this home, try it (even though they knew I could not even afford to pay for parking. lol) Hifi Hutch: (Villa Park, IL) a good Klipsch dealer at the time. Wish I had a really great HIFI shop in this area. What say ye?

Thought it might be nice to check out a MC over a MM cartridge. This is the high output variety MC cart. That should work with my Scott 222C right? All thought and opinions welcome - Thanks! ---------------- I used a dyns DV20L (L is low output) they make it in a H (high output)as well. It was one of the most musical carts that i have owned. A real steal for the money. i moved it and a few others when i moved up to the Lyra helikon. I prefer MC over MM, and the dyna is a lot for the money. IMHO
  19. Well my past Sony Es poroducts were: A sony ES pre amp and 2 four channel amps (2505? Dunno) from 1987, don't rember model (was the top of there line). They were OK but not great. Good for that time period, but waaay over priced for the sound (or lack of) and build quality. A few years ago when we decided to build a HT set up again. We bought the TA9000ES (top line ) pre and maching multi channel amp. Gadgets out the ying yang, sounded like warm dog crap, solt it on Ebay. Bought the Krell HTS 2 and have never looked back. My opion of SONY ES is the ES is for Extra ****tty

Dad had short horns until 77 when he bought new khorns, 2 uncles had korns, dads pals had scallas. There was a dealer in Villa Park, Il called Hifi Hucth. Walked in there 05,30,1982. walked out with Corns, nak dragon tape deck, denon TT with dp 103 cart, denon int amp...... thought that i had gone to hifi heaven. Hauled all this back to my studio apt, which was a stero syst, and a california king water bed. AHHHHHHHH the simpler days. So it was only right for me to continue the chain. Now had dads horns, scallas, kg 3.5, kg 2.5, rsw 15 x 2, promedia. And if car adio was offered wold switch from my Oz Audio. ---------------- Damn, I feeeeeeeel old!!! It was 1971 when dad purchased the KWO's.. was looking through some old papers this A.M. and there was the paper work. Time flys (unless you listen to blowse)... then you die

So I guess my new question is: which is better component or S-Video? ---------------- I am no expert on this subject. But we just bought a new HDTV and HD CATV box. When the install guys (TV) installed the TV they used component cables. They said that was the better quality way to go. The cable guy said the same thing. Sooooo.. thats what we have. Sounds O.K. to me.Ohhhhh... the TV installers said that Svideo and compont can not be used at the same time .. Not sure why. Roy

I know that atleast 10 kids that were hooked for life after listening to the Who, Stones and a lot of great Motown at our place. Back in 8th grade, a emerald green swchwinn stingray, and a pool party at our place moved a nerviue shy kid to the top of hipster status. Mustang sally cranked with tube power and Khorns. Ohhh, how easy it all was back then. lol
  25. Sweeeeeeet........ BUT.... Now I want to do the same. I have one corner that is not right (has a pipe dry walled ). You did a great job. Something to be prod of.... CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!
