  1. I think Don Richard and Bruce have hit the nail on the head, if it is the venue's equipment/sound reinforcement system it is will be their guy running the FOH mixing. It is luck of the draw on that. If it is an expensive system they are going to have a guy to protect it, if not, then it is pretty much someone who sucks at bartending or anyone else they can find. At the other extreame, traveling megashows, with major cost sound reinforcement have their own FOH mixers. Most major tours/artists rent the sound reinforcement systems through either a sound company or directly from the manufacturer. They will provide their own engineer as well that travel with the shows. When you are at the level of something like a Meyer Sound System, fully horn loaded system, they understand that you have to have top level people at mixing because the sound is so clear that you can hurt people before they fully realize it. Meyer is so advanced that when they install a system that sounds incredibly loud at FOH, they use rear firing sound to create nulls behind the stacks which allow crew and others to talk in a whisper standin right behind them. John Meyer got his start selling Klipsch before running into Steve Miller who needed equipment for Monterey Pop, and he is a major Klipsch fan if you haven't checked him out before.
  2. Seems he rubbed people the wrong way. That's funny

  4. It is hard to tell from the brochure photo, but I think if you look close it is curved, and is basically square, which is Imax. If the estimated dimensions are correct, then it is too small for typical Imax which go to about 100'x100'. I am backtracking, I think that is a large Atmos system. Atmos can be configured for a L LC C RC R set up so that sound panning across the screen is smoother. Dolby recommends a five front speaker system on screens that are wider than 40'. That looks to be a 1.85:1 screen because of its squarer shape, can the fact that the L and R are near the edges of the screen. I am going to go with the wild, wild guess that this is a installation within the last year, and it is in India. Travis
  5. Haven't read article, but familiar with Dihydrogen Monoxide.
  6. Keep in mind Chad said the behind the screen shot was in Indiana. The brochure and the other photo I posted are front of the screen shots. If you are going to Pilgrimage in Hope next week you can ask Bonehead himself. You can also ask him if that is largest they have done. The brochure is probably an Imax theater, the ones I have been in are that size, and larger, and have steeper stadium seating. The top seats are almost eye level with the top of the screen, with seats sloping down to the bottom. This would explain the need for upper and lower L C R channels, to have complete coverage for top and bottom rows.
  7. I thought this was a good genetal article about the current case and previous case. http://www.theguardian.com/music/2016/may/09/led-zeppelin-music-plagiarism-lawsuits-samples-chords-lyrics
  8. so in a setup like that, do you think they are lcr and then two wides? or three center channels and then left and right. or dual left and right with a single center?? my guess would be three centers. I wondered the same thing. I think you are right, based on the info in the center OR they run 5 channels across the front in some professional applications? 11.1 for Pro Atmos?

  12. I believe the top paid NFL, NBA and MLB players out earn the top NFL players but all top NHL players like Crosby make multi-millions annually. I thought Gordie Howe left the NHL for Winterpeg, MB? WHL Houston Aeros, he signed a million dollar contract with them in early 70s so he could play with his two sons who were on that team. I believe the most he every made with Detroit was $100,000.
  13. My mistake, I did completely misread what you said, and I am sorry for the confusion. I didn't realize that you were comparing an official CD release of the same performance to the one straight from the board. I thought you were comparing the live sound to what was output from the mixing board for comparison. Looking back at your post, and Oldtimer's initial responses, I don't know how I was so far off.
  14. You should post this in the pro-sound section of this forum. If you want to wall mount speakers you want something from KPI series. Folks like the Hard Rock put them in, it's just a matter of how many you need. As for not paying for streaming service, you pay one way or the other. If you are in the US, and play from a list you make you will meet ASCAP sooner or later.
