Quite a testimony, I knew you had a lot going on, back pain, etc, but that is quite a load. I give a sh*t, I feel confident most people do as well. This is why when I initially responded to this post by Mike, I thought it would be better if Moderators would point out the offensive posts, if someone is antagonizing someone else they can be called on it. I made light of you and Craig going at it and selling tickets, for that I appologize. No idea what either of you have been through individually, what if any issues there are between you, and if you two are serious half the time or not. But you have obviously identified something as evidenced in your post, that is typically half the battle. Some people never identify it and they move on, by choice or otherwise. I don't believe their were any personal attacks in the Baltimore, baseball thread. The original post had political and racial overtones from the original post. I am not saying that anything was intentionally by the post, but there was only one direction it could go. Well how could a post about the fact that spectators were not allowed to attend a game because of safety be political? Well it was the 3 or 4 questions following the news flash about the baseball game score, such as whether the mother who grabbed her son who was "attempting to loot" a hero or not? Someone pointed out on the first page that the post had no where to go but political. Then there was some discussion that it wasn't the intent, but rather was an invitation for friendly discourse amongst "family." From there it went to the mother had six kids out of wedlock, corruption in Baltimore, and we were off, me included, just like the Preakness. EVERYONE in that thread talked about politics, political philosophy, the left, the right. WVU, I appreciate the fact that yoi wished it had stayed on topic so it wouldn't get deleted, but you sure were willing to discuss politics and pointed out the reason WV, with its four electoral votes went Republican and cost Gore the election. If the rule is that politics and racial discussions should be are out then that thread should have been killed the first day. A moderator was in that thread this morning and gave a friendly reminder not to use the names of particular elected office holders as being too political. Never mind the previous 15 or so pages contained discussions about political ideology, media's influence, and specific sociatial issues and where people come down on them. Again, not one personal attack, but that's mot really the issue is it? Chad has pinned a reminder at the top, NO POLITICS NO RELIGION. Just like Thanksgiving at my parent's house, well we do pray and give thanks before eating, but that is another story. This group can't talk about gas prices or the tooth fairy without bringing politics into the discussion. Why would it be any different about Baltimore? Moderators, moderate. It is a tough job, but we are counting on you, because no corporation can allow politics, race, religion or sexual orientation to be a part of their official forums. If you don't do your jobs, this forum is gone. Moderators are like referees or umpires, people want someone who is even handed, fair, UNBIASED, amd wolling to make a call. Don't second guess yourselves, don't make apologies, and you do not need to explain your decision. Just call it, "I am/we are shutting this down because it is political." Did you notice that no one disagreed that the thread was political. They knew it from day one. Good referees are able to make calls without regard to whether they are popular or not, without second guessing themselves, and knowing going in that some will agree and some will disagree. It is difficult because it is human nature to want to be loved, liked, or popular. If you are a moderator and you need love, buy a dog or a kitten. Here are some buzz words to look for that a post just might be political other than an elected official's last name in it. Liberal, conservative, right wing or left wing (unless they are talking about sports), far right, far left, socialism, communism, democrat or republican (upper and lower case), POTUS, election, debate, vote, voters, primary. Moderators didn't make the rules, they are here to fairly enforce them.

That is crazy, it seems to be an off-hand of saying the person you report to holds you accountable. Why was he upset about that? He was certainly the master of satire. The center panel depicts so many taboo subjects for that time, miscegenation, sodomy, same-sex relationships, etc. The center panel was always the most thought provoking to me. Now remember that my mother is a retired 1st grade teacher with her doctorate in education and a masters in guidance counseling and my father is a retired school superintendent of the second highest operating budget double AA School system in the state at the time and past president of the County board of education. I think this is very well said. Paul fancied himself a "gadfly" and it appears he was certainly willing to engage anyone and everyone on issues he was passionate about, whether it be his pastor's sermon, the audio "establishment" or anyone else. He used satire, as in the case of his article about a combination space heater/amplifier. He was so accustomed to misinformation he invented the first analog tweet, the Bullshit button. I only know him from his writings, and a great number of anecdotes from those that knew him personally, but I don't recall him ever having to resort to personal attacks to make a point. Travis

To my knowledge, just the Jube. He has debunked a couple. Wait, he has designed an electronic analog crossover, but that isn't passive. You going to use it for a center? Are you running your Jubes passive these days. I would want to know what the time delay is on all of those configurations first befor I looked at passive. Not sure which Tyson fight you saw, and some of them were really bad rip-offs.... but you can thank Don King for the majority of them. But you should never buy a PPV fight because you want to see it go the full distance or dragged out... on the contrary, spectacular knockouts against worthy opponents are what makes memorable matches.,... and during his prime, Tyson was "King" of the spectacular knock-outs. No one since has filled the void he left behind. After Don King took complete control, he milked the Tyson name for money, matching him up against chumps, just for a Don King Promotions payday. Here's Tysons WBC championship winning fight, Berbick was suppose to be the one to teach the new kid on the block a lesson. It wasn't a first round knock out, but a second round destruction of Berbick. The kicks-into gear about 25 sec. into the link. I was in the 3rd row for that fight, Tyson hit Berbick with a left hook so hard in the temple I thought for sure he had killed him. I agree with you Mike I do not understand what is so hard about figuring out whether something is a personal attack or not. It is pretty easy and doesn't require a consensus or committee to figure it out does it? Or maybe it is who is making the attack, or whether the attack is serious enough to warrant sanction and that requires a consensus? Why does it have to rise to the level of an "attack"? Isn't it enough that that the argument turns personal? Don't punish the thread, warn or punish the offender, and do it out in the open so everyone can learn from it. I think if you want to correct the behavior, instead of locking the thread a moderator should just quote the offensive language of the poster, call it like they see it, and advise them that future transgressions will not be tolerated. That serves 3 very important purposes. First it tells the offender what is unacceptable so that if they are normal they can correct their behavior. Second, it tells other forum members what is unacceptable and will not be tolerated. Lastly, when the general public goes through a thread they can see that this is a place for reasonable discussion and debate. Believe it or not, this adds credibility to the forum as a whole. Short of that, Klipsch should provide an incentive system for mods to give out warning points. First one to 500 points, or whatever, gets a free pair of speakers. I am of course kidding about that. I think Thad should undelete those posts, and point out how each one was personal. Better yet, create a private forum where forum members can watch Craig and Dean go at it, no holds barred, and sell tickets to it and use the money for a worthy cause. You can have matches about topics like cables, tube v. SS, high money parts vs. Cheep parts, all ot the topics that devolve into personal attacks. Tonight is perfect, offer up round one right before the fight. Five bucks a head, you will get at least 50 guys, that is 250. Everyone votes for the winner. On second thought . . .
