  1. Does anyone think the #6100 would have a chance at all of being a good mate to 4.2's? Right now over at the Gon' there is one like brand new w/case for 450. I'm wondering if 70 McIntosh S.S. watts would really have a "firm grip" on those speakers.
  2. It's the first amp I've owned that doesn't collapse the image and lose detail at low volume levels -- an amazing thing considering it's high power pedigree. ---------------- Now that is a very interesting thing to say.....I listen at low volumes a lot. It might work for me if I could get past the industrial look of the pro amps.
  3. Interesting suggestions guys....Thanks. Is class A Solid State amplification worth checking into or maybe it is a bunch of hype/bologna?
  4. Hi Eagle, Are you reading that from a plate or label on the speaker? That must be a an error in the labeling department or something.
  5. Chuckears, Years ago a buddy of mine was making fun of country music and thats what he told me. lol...lol...lol On the other hand never being one for country some of the young their singers nowdays have beautiful voices.
  6. I agree with these guys.. BLO is basically some sort of OIL. Your lacquer finishes dry to a somewhat hard finish and I just couldnt imagine them blending together at all. I've used BLO for years on my oak 4.2's until satin polyurethane became my choice for a low shine finish that could be easily dusted.
  7. What if it is a high quality interconnect? Are there sheilded interconnects that would prevent interference? Not that I dont believe you 100%, its that I'm considering an external amp for the first time. Channel island monoblocks to be exact and I am following this thread with much curiosity. I dont want to make a huge mistake. Thank You
  8. Oh the poor guy, He has probably done everything posible to make those Klipsches sound better like running them via a jury rigged boombox. Since he is so unhappy and decided to go with a true to life real high end highend stereo system I would like to help him out and take those "old" unusual sounding Klipsches off his hands....... ...........What was his name and address again? I can only cough up 175.00 because my dog died, my wife divorced me, my truck motor blew up and I got laid off but, I am here to help anyway I can.
  9. Thanks Diz, Sobering advice.....some over at Audiogon could use a taste, re: the DK posts.
  10. I'm happy for you Colter...... My wife has an 2001 Acura CL and other than firm seats and a firm riding car it is fantastic inside and out. If at all possibe Honda or Toyota would be my next choice for sure, they are absoloute quality vehicles. ......Pat
  11. Hank and BailBonds.......the match for life. lol lol
  12. I have 2 Denon stereo recievers and they sound very much alike even though one is about 12 years old. The Denon 2000ivr integrated was a contender and looks like a million bucks but I'm 1/2 afraid it will have that Denon signature sound. Used seems like a pretty darn good way to save a lot of green.
  13. Before the "No Call List" we were getting calls from telemarketers anywhere from 1 to 3 calls every week usually late into the evening, and also those tape recorders that talk to you. It was baaaaad! I used to know where 3 telemarketer "shops" were, where some poor soul was trying to make a dollar constantly making calls one right after the other. Maybe 30 employees at any one time.
  14. The past year or so our junk mail @ home is near zero. Every piece of junk mail we get, I will make that call and ask nicely to remove our name from their mailing list. That goes for phone call solicitation too. It's also fun using the shredder for any typed addresses and names.
  15. Oh yeah, The red and white coca cola machine prices jumped to 20 cents.....that was expensive. In the mornings walking to and from school I would walk the small town alleys and get 5 cents each for the returnable bottles. Then of course I would proceed to blow it all on candy at the local full service gas station.
  16. My neighbors lawn is perfect, very soft to walk on and he has always used a company to spray his lawn in the summer and plug it with holes in the Fall. Our lawn looks pretty good but it is covered with approximately 174 billion dandelions.....lol. May be time for him to start paying us a visit
  17. I live in the same dog-gone town and can not make it. For some time now the Docs and myself are trying to get this darn back pain under control. Talk about the Pilgrimage being a big tease!
  18. Cal, It sounds to me you got a smokin' deal...a couple weeks ago at our local dealer a pair of speakers like that for sale were priced at 1200.00. Sure...those have been modified but they also might sound even better then original. Oh, I also really like the Walnut finish. I made some frames/covers for some speakers once out of hardwood Maple then stained them accordingly.....very strong and rigid, lasted for years.
  19. Shapiro's does a great business....their carry out sandwich portions are huge!
  20. Dragon, I didnt check your links yet but at first thought it sounds like breakfast for your lawn Poor Moon...the "other half" has control of the yard..hope you make a firm stand with the 2 channel equipment. OK, now back to smoking.....errrrrr...cutting grass
  21. It does sound very clear with tons of bass, if anything the midrange may be a little recessed. Just seemed like something was missing. I'm not sure if McIntosh or H.K. or tubes would make much of a difference w/o buying blindly. (can you say "roll the dice"). ..mmmm...now that I think about it I wonder if RF5's would be much different? I have heard them a few times in the store. Thank you for the input!
  22. Hi Keia, Here in Indianapolis Ovation has been running the same sale for some time now.......does seem like a bargain doesnt it?
  23. I used to care for the grounds at 3 different Girl Scout camps. We generally let the grass grow somewhat tall 4"-5". never did cut it short like many homeowners. The grass is just as lush as can be...beautiful when the wind blows against it. Never did have a problem with crabgrass or weeds. I'm suprised how many homeowners are afraid to drive or park on their lawns for a day or so. It is fine!...really! Just don't do a burnout and tear it by the roots and it will spring right back up in a couple days. Feel the blade of the mower, it should feel razor sharp. Anyway, I've never been schooled on lawncare....just have hands on experience.
  24. It's an old Denon stereo reciever #345R 45wpc. The speakers are Klipsch 4.2's rated 100wpc.max. @ 95db. I am really curious as to what someone else would use whether it would be S.S. or tubes or whatever.... I thought about an old 70's reciever or some newer brand Unico or maybe something class 'A'. I've never heard a tube amp but would hate for tubes to mask or cover the clear Klipsch highs. I'd be happy spending 400.00 but could go 1000.00 or so. The room is about 12'x16' w/ acoustic ceiling and heavy curtains all around. ..............Pat
  25. What is the amplification for your "KG" series speakers? Must be something better than a 45 watt Denon....Any Suggestions? Thanks.....
