  1. Got some new wheels and tires for my RZR. I picked up 1000 XP take-off wheels/tires for my 900S for $150, after selling my old wheels and tires, that needed new rear tires.
  2. I'd do a wipe on poly finish at a minimum. Protection looks better than unfinished, to me. I just recently refinished a set of 82 Heresy's that never had any finish on them and I personally think they look much better. I have a thread on here with the before and after.
  3. You're in ATL? I was up in Kennesaw last weekend and get our there a few times a year.
  4. I almost swapped to the JEM's, but I'm not finding anything lacking. If I get the urge to try something, maybe I'll do that... But I'm already outside of the "intent' of the speaker and 'no ragrets' as I've been listening to them for probably 6 hours.
  5. You'll like them. They sound great and you'll have a brand new set of drivers, which is part of what I was adding them for. I basically have brand new speakers at this point. They made it 38 years before I started redoing them, and that's without any finish on them. I expect them to outlast me at this point.
  6. A subwoofer doesn't need to match any tone of the speakers. I'd look at something new/newer that can hit as low and as loud as you need it to. SVS is among one of the favorites. I've had a few, as well as an SVS clone I built with a Klipsch driver (still have this).
  7. I'd imagine you'd go deaf in there.
  8. Im not sure I could tell you the difference. I've had A-55-G's in my La Scalas for almost 2 years and I put these A-55-G's in quite some time ago. They all sound good... I couldn't tell the difference between the two speakers when one had a K-55-M and the other had a K-55-V (soldered)...
  9. This is what I bought: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B076JNCQ39/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_0l4cGbFDFRPRA?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
  10. Got all the final stuff in today and the speakers are currently sitting on the floor in the living room, and I'm enjoying listening to them with my Emotiva BasX A-100 hooked up to my phone. I will probably run some sweeps on them in the next few days to see if there are any issues I may be unaware of, but they sound fantastic to me. Now I need to try and straighten the boards for the grilles so I can wrap them and glue on magnets.
  11. More potential bass? Yes. The ability to move your sweet spot around? Yes. I added a 3rd sub when I had a basement theater to move the sweet spot at my seating position. I also had to run it 180 out of phase.
  12. Kids born when this thread was created... Will be able to vote in a couple months!
  13. It was a bummer to see this as Bob has helped me quite a bit and I've purchased my share of his parts, very recently even. I've had some pretty good conversations with him via email, though never spoke to him on the phone. Sad to see him go, but there's no escaping it. My condolences.
  14. I went ahead and stuck with these for now. If they sound good, which I suspect they will, I'll leave it as-is:
  15. When my parents built their house in Arizona (1995/96), they use "Ice Block", which was very similar in construction and 12" thick.
  16. I use a subwoofer with my La Scalas, which I feel is needed for a lot of the music (and TV/movies) I listen to. If I want to just play some Motley Crue really loud, I don't feel like the need a sub... Though I still like it better with one.
  17. Hmm... You have me considering giving these a try. I bought my Heresy's woth Solens already installed and they sounded good. I have put Sonicaps in, however, they have not been used yet on the rebuild. My La Scalas have Sonicaps with the A4500, and they sounded great... No grainy sounds or anything.

    Ehhh...???

I know a thread that this will trigger people.
  19. Knowing they command more money, people will list the mods you want listed in a sale so you don't buy something you don't want. I see "Crites upgrades" on sale ads all the time, which people use to draw in potential buyers. Money was not in reference to you as a buyer, but to the seller trying to make more money on the sale ;).
  20. I don't think that will be a problem since the ones that are 'upgraded' command more money, from what I've seen.
  21. I was the one who posted that... That was part of my point as well. People have their preferences as to which drivers are better, but in the end, I could not hear it. I can't say I hear a difference between the K-55's I've had and the A-55-G's. The tweeter is a different story though... Big difference and better, in my opinion. On the woofer side, I saw no benefit (to me) to change anything, just refresh with a new OEM. I think Bob has stayed fairly true in his replacement/upgrades and clearly, people wanted them. Hell, the only reason I replaced the original woofers in my Heresy's is because they were so faded. The real improvement will probably be the bracing and actually sealing the cabinet, particularly on the poorly built one, which I'm sure isn't in the original design (it was pretty bad). And for the facts vs feelings... The end goal is a feeling, no?
  22. Shoot, I'll take 100% credit with a written statement of not being sued. 😛
  23. My capacitors were leaking, so I'd imagine to some extent, absolutely. There was a very large variance between the build quality in my Heresy's... One was built significantly better than the other. Because of that, I did have to do some real maintenance. Plus, the leaky capacitors.
