  1. Yes, the Epics like power. Though efficient, I get the feeling they get really happy with plenty of power to draw from. 17 years with your Epics. Very Cool! I have had my CF3's for about 15 years now and still going strong.
  2. Sometimes, the dust cap will partially comes loose on the driver and make a distorted or annoying buzzing sound at volume. This is the first thing to check, see if the glue has failed at some place along the cap. When it is making that sound, put your ear near the center circle dust cap and also put a finger on it edges to see if it is vibrating. If so, this can be fixed fairly easily with a glue.
  3. This is not a a home theater shot, just showing the beauty of nature within the home. There just happens to be a pair of Epic CF3's and a KLF C-7 in the pic. Grills are off just so there is no mistaking what they are.
  4. Shot off of my deck a couple of weeks ago. Calm seas, after the storm.
  5. Great looking pair of Epics and nice price.
  6. Not mine but worth showing. night surfing under the northern lights in Iceland, I believe.
  7. I have the Oppo 93 bluray player which has been designed to be used as a stand alone preamp if desired, with its own 100 step volume control. it is supposed to put out over 1 watt of power to drive an amp properly. Sometimes I bypass my receiver using RCA to XLR interconnects and hook it up directly to my Crown K2 power amp as I am doing now as I type this. I think it is a great cd disc player whether using its digital outputs to receiver or its RCA connections and as an added bonus also does quite well playing Pandora. Oppo to 500 watt K2 to my Epic CF3's. John Lee Hooker is singing the Blues at the moment off of Pandora, Nice!
  8. Anyone in the LA area interested in a pair of Belles. A rare price at $1300 bucks. http://losangeles.craigslist.org/sfv/ele/5960930835.html
  9. It will act in the same way as the KV4, only it will put out a much bigger sound presentation with more of a full range capability. I haven't tried it myself as of yet, though I will at some point. If you have the space beneath your screen, I would try one of your CF3 as a center channel and see how it sounds.
  10. Good idea, I also would like to hear of the differences between the 3 and the 4. What speaker do you use as your center channel in your theater. I am planning to get another CF3 to sit on its side between the pair I already have in mine.
  11. that guy is going to have a long wait at that price.
  12. Well, I will throw in my 2 cent opinion to the list as well then. I would put the center channel on the stand and put the tv on top of it so that the drivers of the front 3 are more in line with each other. Then, swap the subs with the mains, toe them in, and give a listen. Just for experimentation, that is.
  13. According to this youtube CES video I watched, it is said that it would be available on the market by the 2nd or 3rd quarter of this year.
  14. Did a search for Klipsch at USaudiomart and saw this listing. I have seen these speakers before on Youtube and was impressed with their all out styling. A tad pricey, but the shipping is free. http://www.usaudiomart.com/details/649185070-live-sound-designs-grand-theatre-system-rca-mi-9462-ubangi/
  15. I will second that. looks good, at a great price.
  16. Up for sale is my Sonic Impact Super T-amp. I have had it since I bought it new. For those in the know, this is quite the rare piece and there probably is not another up for sale on the web anywhere. This has been sitting unused for several years. Just hooked it up and it still sounds great and almost made me change my mind. Comes with original box and power supply. Still in great shape. $100 bucks shipped in the Continental US. http://www.stereophile.com/solidpoweramps/1006sonic/#cFt6Fgy7vecPlbRW.97
  17. Hey Schu, I somehow had a feeling that these may catch your eye and would respond. That works for me. I sent you a pm.
  18. So, what I have here at home for sale are 5 lightly used KT88 power tubes. These tubes have been sitting idle on a shelf for the last 8 years or so, since the time I last played around with the tube amp I had. The amp I had only used 2 power tubes. I have no way to test them to make sure they are all still working as they should, but they were all put away in working condition. I guess I thought I would get back into them but have not and so I am putting them up for sale. They are all in their original boxes A matched pair of Valve Art KT88's and a matched pair of Electro-Harmonix KT88EH + a 3rd EH single that is not matched. If memory serves the extra 3rd tube came from a matched pair in which one of them failed and the company I ordered them from sent me another matched pair to replace, hence the lonely 3rd. I will sell them for $15 bucks each or $60 for all five. I think that is a fairly sweet deal. Let me know if not. The Valve Arts are sold. 30 bucks for the other 3.
  19. anyone into Edgarhorns, who lives in Colorado. Looks like very nice system at a great price. https://www.audiogon.com/listings/full-range-edgarhorn-100-edgarhorn-sub-2016-12-15-speakers-80816-florissant-co
  20. For those in Southern Cali, a pretty decent deal on the Klipsch Ultra package as well as a receiver and Oppo 105. http://losangeles.craigslist.org/wst/ele/5918515167.html
  21. Good info on your Chorus's experiences. As a side note, I did buy the Crown K2 and have been driving the Epics with it for the last 5 years or so. It doesn't display how much wattage I use, but when playing the blue-ray "Metallica-Through the Never", which is the most dynamic disc I have heard to this day, the gain lights blaze on the K2 and I know a decent amount of wattage is pouring into the Epics, and they are Slammin!
  22. Years ago, I talked to a tech support guy at Crown in regards to using their K2 power amp with my Epic CF3's. The K2 puts out 500 watts a side at 8ohms. According to their specs, the Epics can handle 250 watts continuous with 1000 peaks, as several other Klipsch speakers also state. The Crown dude told me that what those specs mean to him anyways, is that the speaker can handle 250 watts continuously for a period lasting 2 hours and with a 1000 peak can handle a program of 500 watts. When i asked him what program means, he said that the speaker should be able to handle 500 watts for a period of one hour. His info, is based on speakers designed for professional use and are supposed to live up to those numbers. I don't know if klipsch's speakers that have those specs could in truth handle that degree of wattage, but if even close to those numbers, one could drive them pretty hard without worry. Anyone want to chime in, in regards to the tech guy's info and klipsch's numbers.
  23. Yes, the Epics really pound on the bass, my CF3's never fail to impress either and i agree that they like power. I have a Crown K2 on mine. The reason I asked about the version you have is that the drivers appear in your pic to be grey in color. The 3rd version had different drivers and were black. The horn in the earlier versions was also grey in color and was painted black in the 3rd version.
  24. Nice to read of your experiences with your just acquired Epics. Great score. What gives you the impression that they are version 3's?
