  1. I read about the same thing but it involved Bank of America but I think it was for selective employee accounts only if memory serves correct. There has got to be a way to assign liability for such negligence as well as jail time for those caught taking your identity. I did read that a person was sentenced to jail time for large spamming operation, so maybe the laws will catch up with technology.
  2. sorry to hear about that, if you did not have bad luck with that speaker you would have no luck at all. Good thing your relativily handy with swaping the parts out.
  3. Scp53 - Hav you ever heard the RSW15? It rated at 19hz at -3Hz, I have heard it rolls off quickly at 20Hz, which one reason it has such high clean output. I have seen the rating of 30hz at 130dbs. I can't say for sure, but I have measured the c weighted output at over 100 dbs, but perhaps your right it, rolls off at 25hz, certainly does not feel that way. Again would like to hear from someone who has heard the RSW15 amongst other subs. THX
  4. TDK I am glad its gone too, its funny I was just getting ready to reply, glad I did not have too. The moderators are good in that way. Hope your taxes work out for you.
  5. I think most Boston Acoustic speakers are better than real Bose speakers. I am excluding those cubes and the mid range/bass plastic box they call a sub woofer, cause they cant compete. My brother in-law has that set up, not inexpensive either, while compact, don't think so, for less and the same sound you can do Cambridge sound works. I like BA, not love but won't sell them (college memories) but the old T-830 tops the 901 in many categories and cost a heck of a lot less. The thing I hate about BA's is the tweeter ring at higher volume, but it has a very nice laid back sound at moderate volumes, much better then Bose IMO. Neither touches my Klipsch in sound quality.
  6. I just ordered two from that company, hope the girls come with pillows Let me know how they sound once you hook them up.
  7. With extension down to 50Hz, you do need a sub to fill in below that, this will give you wider response for music and deeper response for movies. Unfortunately, moderate price retail subs do not go that deep. Although they measure fine, they do have upper end response that can extend and overlap above 50Hz. You need a sub to fill in the enormous energy requirement of the huge waves below 50Hz, down to 20Hz. Colin - Would you describe the RSW15 as that type of sub? Just curious to hear your opinion since I am sure you have heard many more subs than I.
  8. "Is it a red flag when your federal return nets to $0?" First off I am not a tax attorney, but from a finacial stance that is perfect. Getting refunds simply means you have allowed the government to borrow your money interest free. Owning a house is a great thing, for your audio hobby and tax return. Rick - Sorry to hear about the in-laws potenially moving in. Mine are only an hour away, so I see them more than my own mom, I "love em" and all, but I don't want them to moving in.
  9. Finally got confirmation that my e-file from turbo tax went through for state and federal. Don't know why I waited so long, buying the house we actually get something back from the federal government, always own the state something extra though. What stinks around where I live is the local township has a 1% income tax. That is in addition to the school and other property taxes you pay. It can be deducted off the federal, but it still stinks, its not like I live in a city. Now I just need to decide where to put the $.
  10. I have Maxima that has the ubiquitous bose system in it.
  11. I have used Walmart, at $.88 a song. They have a pretty good selection, you end up getting a WAV file at 160kbs which has licenses attached. They way I get around it is once I get a enough songs to burn a CD, I record it back to my hard drive as MP3, and you are free and clear. I also use MusicMatch as well, but that is the standard .99.
  12. After reading this thread I went up in the attic and was please to discover at the very bottom, under the bottom piece of packaging material of the RF7 boxes, the spikes. They currently are on carpet, so I attached them. Forgot how heavy they are and now they are much more difficult to move. The sound differences for me were very subtle, but they are staying on. I found much more impact setting up the Auralex panels, which arrived a day later, never the less I am very happy. Thanks for bringing this to my attention.
  13. I am not a huge believer in THX certification, but I know at least for THX ultra, the amp section of qualifying receivers need be high current and low impedance drive capable. In this case it may be a useful gage of speaker flexibility, meaning it should not choke at the low loads your current speakers are presenting.
  14. Nice write up. Just saw this one myself tonight. My wife and I really liked it. It has some very funny moments along with very uncomfortable ones, could relate to more than a few of both. Thought it was very well done. We were actually out in Los Olivos during one of the days they were shooting, on one of our day trips from our vacation to Santa Barbara. The only reason we figured it out was I saw Church just walking down the main street and put two and two together later. That was 2 years ago or so, when they had those wild fires, you can see the haze from the fires in a few of the scenes. Would recommend it. Love that part of CA.
  15. Kenratboy - You could make some quick bucks by wrapping the excess cable in some fabric/mesh sleeve and sell it on e-bay as some "super RAT cable" which was frozen at minus 30C (don't lie just throw it in the freezer) during its special forge process to seal in all the acoustic properties that one would expect for say $5.00 a foot, which would be a net profit (minus the cost of the cover) of $4.70. Publish some great reviews how these cables really are awesome of course. (aka pay some people off) Get enough sales and you can pay for a new HT (Klipsch of course). If you create/market a new elite line of cable (stick in the freezer for an extra hour over the regular stuff) and force your wholesaler to cut the price from $.30 a foot down to .05 and sell it at $15.00 a foot you can pay for college. Keep it up and you can be a millionaire. Hey were can I get these new awesome sounding cables?
  16. Sc03979 - I second tdkamerica, the Denons IMO sound very nice with the RF7s. In my case I get great bass from the RF7s and it has been brought up that they can be difficult to drive since they drop in ohms in bass frequencys. I can say my reciever does not seem to have that issue perhaps due to the fact it meets the THX standards which requires the amps to handle low impedance speaker loads. Good luck with the JBLs
  17. My annual subscription to McAfee is up and I am wondering if there is something else better out there. I run Windows XP and have a 3.2 GHz Dell XPS and use a cable modem. Any input or personal experiences would be appreciated, aside from switching to an Apple product. I have not had a problem with McAfee, just wonder if there is something better out there. Thanks in advance
  18. Don't know what the weather is like were you are now, but it has been raining hard and windy all morning and into afternoon, not supposed to stop until mid Sunday. Looks like the perfect day to watch the Incredibles and listen to my new Susan Tedeschi CD 'Live from Austin TX'. Hope the weather is better were you are.
  19. Moon Wow, your room turned out awesome. I would have liked to have painted my H/T black or dark green, but was overruled. Love the 3rd RF7 as center, must sound great with music concerts as well. Is that a yellow sticker on top of the grill of the center RF7? If memory serves correct you did the built bass traps in the back of the room and covered with black farbric? If so you can't tell from the pictures.
  20. The hiss you discribe, believe its been described to exist on other digital amps, like the discriptions of the carvers as well, correct me if I am wrong, no harm intended. Is it inherent in digital amps or more common then say SS? Its not some rf interfernce, but the amp? I know I have also heard it on SS amps (I am sure all types) as well, so not that its uncommon, always thought it to be interference, power issue, etc. Obviously prefer not to have it, but I know the user typically would not hear when listing, so perhaps its a non issue. Would it typically indicate higher THD levels in general?
  21. "It is much nicer to wish a Happy Birthday" Your right, but no disrespect meant before. I love his music, he is one of my favorites, his music introduced me to the blues. I hope he keeps going for many years to come. His ability to change with the times is a reflection of his amazing musical talent. He has never left the Blues. Happy Birthday Eric.
  22. March 30th is his Birthday. HAPPY 60TH!! ouch.
