  1. Probably Full Black...painted Baltic Birch Plywood or Other veneer... Bill
  2. Zappa Freak is a great guy to deal with and those Chorus' look very nice...good luck with your sale... Bill
  3. some used to clean the needle by lightly using a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser on the stylus tip...just be VERY careful if you do this and try a search as my information on this is a few years old...perhaps more data is available... Bill
  4. I think your new speakers are gonna sing with that updated Scott... Bill
  5. Heresys are a very balanced speaker with good bass it just won't thump like some like their music to do...I think they do better under Tube power but I have three Heresys across the front for my Outlaw Audio 1070 Home Theater...that pric is nice too... Bob Crites www.critesspeaker.com offers updates and upgrades you can do over time if it is required and his prices are fair when you compare what the speakers cost and what it would cost to replicate them... Good luck with your choice... Bill
  6. Listen to them...do you like th sound???...how do the cabinets look???...those cabinets should be birch plywood or fir plywood painted black, and touch up can be done with black paint...1984 Heresys (not lls or llls) buy them... Bill
  7. http://www.critesspeakers.com Your KG 4.2s at the least should sound very nice...I suspect the updates will be a welcome addition... Bill
  8. I hadn't planned on doing this but inspired by other threads and convincing my brother he needed to update the crossovers on his H2s, I went and ordered some new crossovers from Bob Crites... Arrived an hour ago...installed the new crossovers and I can't remember when these kg2s have sounded so good, I've owned them since new... The Titanium tweeter diaphragms were first and they cleared up the raspiness of the old and worn original diaphragms...I thought that alone made these pretty good and thought that would be enough...right... I hadn't intended to do the crossovers as the cost more than the speakers would sell for BUT now the speakers sound articulate and airy...no, I don't think these will replace Heresys, Quartets or Chorus lls that I have (all now have upgraded crossovers and all but the Heresys have the Titanium tweeter modification from BEC/Bob Crites) but they sure sound nice and FAR cleaner and clearer than they did before...maybe even better than new since the new diaphragms go higher and cleaner... Bob informed me that mine are the first kg2 purpose built new Xovers he has built...cool... Thanks Bob and to everyone here who writes about their gear adventures that inspire me to continue mine. Bill
  9. I don't know enough about them to help you but hopefully someone here will chime in to help...the memories associated with stuff is great to share...thanks for sharing yours... Bill
  10. Bob just informed me that mine are the very first kg2 crossovers he has built...probably sent out kits or parts but mine are the first new crossovers... Bill
  11. colterphoto1 has the spec sheet for these in this thread... https://community.klipsch.com/index.php?/topic/141665-kp-201-ii/ Bill
  12. they may be a bit bass shy but should be heavy duty everywhere else...I like Heresys and if I found a pair of the KP's for a nice price near me, I would buy... Bill
  13. I think I will check into some bar stools as well... Bill
  14. any ideas on what to use or where to get a nice pair of speaker stands for a pair of Klipsch kg2s??? I have a pair that are getting some more love today (Crites Xovers should arrive today) and I've already cleaned them up, oiled the Oak Oil veneer and added Bob's Titanium tweeter modification (which were a big improvement IMO)... I have looked around a bit at speaker stands to get them higher to ear level when seated but mostly the stands are for much smaller speakers...as many know, the kg2s are large for bookshelf speakers... Any ideas or experiences you'd care to share would be appreciated... When I bought these in 1989/90 I had some heavy duty wood bases the only raised the speaker about 8 inches (not enough) but these have moved on...I've looked for "preowned" on craigslist and the like but keep finding beat stands that the sellers seem to want new prices for... Thanks Bill
  15. Patrick...arrived just now and look fine...thanks Bill
  16. would like to replenish the retirement account... would consider offers but I can't use any more gear...thanks! Bill
  17. interesting...I have Quartets and Chorus lls as well as Heresys...the Quartets do very well according to me and have FAR more bass punch than the Heresys...I do find the Heresys have a very well balanced sound though and are a bit smaller an enclosure... Bill
  18. even though Memorial Day is more to remember those that gave all, I like to remember Veterans every day for their Service...Thank You! Bill
  19. I had heard the TIDAL offered lossless and the highest resolution (or whatever it's called ) music in their $19 a month service...I tried it free for a month but got a bit irritated with them over an automatic withdrawal for the first paid month...I realize the error was on my end (I agreed to the autopay despite thinking I had removed it) but I didn't think much of their "customer service"...that ended it for me at this time. While I had TIDAL, I enjoyed the sound and the ability to hear most of whatever I wanted to hear when I wanted to hear it...I'm just not sure it is worth $19 a month or so... Good luck with your choice, Bill
  20. willand, I'm sorry things didn't work out for you and these and thank you for all your help. PayPal sent Patrick...I know my brother has wanted a set of these for some time... Bill
