  1. I just got a Benq 7700. I purchased it after I thought they had corrected their bulb problem. Well maybe not. Do some research on AVS forum before you purchase. My bulb is supose to last 1500 to 2000 hrs and I sure hope it does. I did get a free replacement bulb when I purchase my projector. I've had it since the first of Dec. and have about 140 hrs on it. (HD football on large screen is fantastic, movies and hd TV are good also.) But, also use my other TV a 46 inch DLP for daily viewing. I just don't need to see news and Bill O'Reilly on a 92 inch diagonal screen. The bulb for my 46 inch run about $180 ant the present one has about 3600 hours on it. So you might want another crt or such TV for non HD/movie viewing. Keith
  2. Travisc, I do this with my wife's office books. What works faster is to back it up on a flash memory using the usb port. Takes only a couple of seconds. The only thing you have to be careful of is if someone uses one computer while you are working on the other. You will bring your back up in and restore and it will erase all things done on the first computer since back up. I just ask the office manager not to do any work in quick books until I get in there the next morning and restore it. Keith
  3. does this mean an end to standard lamps that need to be replaced?
  4. I have it standing up right. I have a 92" diaganol screen which is only a few inches from my ceiling. It's in the basement so the drop ceiling then a few inches thn the screen, so I have about 38 inches from floor to bottom of screen. So it is just standing there like a regular floor speaker. (I guess I forgot to mention I have a front projector. ) Don't have any pictures right now maybe later. I did have the academy on a shelf that I built right below the screen. I do like the forte II better than the academy though.
  5. Right now I have three forte II's across the front with quartets for surround. They sound great. I was using an academy for center but then switched to another forte II when I picked up the quartets. The academy was good, the forte II is better. Seamless across the front now. As far as sub I have a SVS 12/2 plus. Much more sub than needed but it sounds great and I have no urge to upgrade there at all. If I find one more forte II I'm going to go 5 forte II's for front, center and surround and then use my quartets for rear centers in a 7.1 system. But that is down the road.
  6. I think the guy down the hall had one like that when I was in college. Don't remember the exact numbers on it, but I remeber the rolling tuner control and colors. I knew nothing about stereo then but boy did it sound good. This was mid seventies. Am I all wet on the age of it. Maybe it was a different marantz.
  7. You are correct Richard. 8:40 into the song. There was a live album at Royal Albert hall album that it is on also. Thanks I just hadn't listened to it long enogh to get to that part. Thanks. Keith
  8. Didn't EMP sing Welcome back my friends to the show that never ends as a track separate from the album by that name or is that the only place that they have it release on.
  9. I would have to give the Jack Johnson two thumbs up. I also liked his two earlier CD's.
  10. Kriton, Weren't you close enough to just pick them up and inspect them before you paid? I thought Dallas and Fort Worth were pretty close to each other. Sorry to hear about the problems. Shipping is always a crap shoot for a number of reasons.

    Worst movie of 2005

Not having seen that many I still have to vote for King Kong. Neo is right, It is 3 hours of a large vacuum equalizing it's pressure. It took them 45 minutes to get to the island! Then it was just King Kong staring at the female lead and then her staring back. The same movie could have been made in an hour thirty. If you can't make your point in an hour more or less give it up. Walk theLine and Ray were both good.
  12. Yes he didn't want to drive them to NW illinios so I could buy them.
  13. Dr. Who, Dang that looks like a lot of speaker hanging in mid air. I can tell you don't have any 8 to 17 yr olds running around your place and tearing things up! I,m interested in your porting of the chorus. I saw an early thread this year when you were talking about doing it. I just rememeber someone posting that they should save those chorus's before you started sawing at them. I've been mulling over in my mind if you could port quartets. This is way off in the future and only if I happen to come across some cheap quartets that the cabinets are in bad shape. I think I could fit them in my upstairs system and use an academy for center. (If I find another forte II I could retire my academy and have 5 forte II's and two quartets for a 7.1 in my basement set up.) If I find the forte II I'll have an academy that I would like to match up with something else for my upstairs system. Of course i'd might be better off in the long run to just get rid of the academy and using the proceeds for a refrence system like some used book shelfs and such. Well I won't be doing it until I get my downstairs setup up to snuff anyway. I'd just kind of hate to give up the academy. I may use the academy and go 7.1 down stairs, but the three forte II's across the front are just fantastic even in 5.1. Well that's enough mental masturbation for now. Just thinking off.
  14. I live in Northern Ca. and can travel some. Does travel some include NW Illinois? Then I would be interested in the Forte II's[]
  15. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Keith
  16. Take care Micheal. Hope you can get things sorted out. Keith
  17. This was as joke wasn't it? My wife made me turn it off. I hope it was a joke or should I just have sympathy for the guy singing or contempt for the people that let him.

    Kong

I thought it was too long and too boring. Sum of movie = Naomi Watts starring at Kong, Kong starring at Watts, Jack black looking out the top of his eyes, antimation of monsters fighting and throwing stuff around New York. Kong's size didn't stay consitant, hell he couldn't have fit on the boat. 45 minutes to get to Skull Island. 2 hrs and 45 minutes to get to New York. Unfortunately there was a clock in the front of the theater that reminded me that it was taking too long for a story to develope and then one almost didn't. Of course I have to admit I didn't like LOTR either. Way to many panoramic scenes and not enough story. Lets see another pretty landscape with backround music. Yawn!!!
  19. PDA and MP3 are short hand for lets make $300 disappear.
  20. I was playing around and replaced my academy that has a kstack with one of my rear forte II's. I also liked the sound of three identical speakers across the front. It was like taking a curtain off the center vocals. I think the tractrix horn of the forte II's breaths much easier than the cones of the academy. That's what made me decide to buy Boomac's quartets. I'll use the quartets for rears and that will free up a forte II for center duty. Someday I hope to go 7.1 with 5 forte II's and the two quartets for center rears. (The space for placement of the center rears the quartets work better). So I'm still in the market for at least one more forte II, will gladly buy two and just have a spare. I think I'll put my academy upstairs with my quintet system. My upstairs system is mainly used for news and regular TV watching.
  21. Michael, Sorry to get to them before you. I got to thinking about them and checked out their size on the Klipsch site. They will fit perfect on my built in cabinets. Once I get my 7.1 system set up they will look great on the cabinet as center rears between my two OO forte II's. In the mean time they will pull rear surround in my 5.1 system and free up a Forte II for front center. The price was good and I couldn't resist. I'll send you some pictures later if you like. I'm still going to look for some more Forte II's or at least one more but I'm not in as much of a hurry now. Planning on a 7.1 with 5 forte II's and 2 quartets. Keith
  22. Hey Michael, Here are some forte 1's on their side. Maybe you could work them in for a center channel. (maybe they should tell the guy to turn his camera). http://cgi.ebay.com/Klipsch-Forte_W0QQitemZ5842697894QQcategoryZ94906QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
  23. The price is escalating since you got in the market! []. The way you buy speakers I can see that it just became a sellers market.
