  1. Hi all, I am selling my Forte's for a number of reasons, none of which are faults with the speakers. I paid 400.00 last summer and will sell them for that amount. These are in nice shape, small blems i believe due to plants being placed on them prior to my ownership. I purchased these from a neighbor that was the original purchaser. As far as i can tell they are working just great, and I find it hard to believe you could find a nicer sounding pair of speakers for this kind of cash. (Although some in here seem to beat the odds[]) I live about 25 miles east of Columbus, Ohio in Granville. Thought I'd see if anyone here was interested prior to listing with Ebay. I really don't want to ship these, but if you wanna pay I'll crate e'm up right and send them your way. Thanks Rich
  2. good question. it would be great to hear them side by side... the 83's have some nice specs, don't think they are really horns though.?
  3. i'm not sure about your area but around here (central ohio) there are quite a few amish places that make nice hardwood furniture and sell it unfinished. the prices are usually good and you can stain and finish thing to suit your needs.
  4. Coletrane Live at the Half Note A very nice listen if you are so inclined...
  5. your story made me feel a bit better, after i got my forte's last summer i would just sit and listen, at times with tears running down my face. nothing like good music sounding great. i too will get around to some tubes first i have to get the kids through college.
  6. next time you are over there feel free to tell them they can dump all those nasty klipsch speakers on me. i'll give em 10 cents on the dollar that they paid.[]
  7. is cable music better than regular fm? do they compress as much as radio? it is nice commercial free listening. just curious if it sounds nice at home. is the quality close to cd's? my only experience with it is at the local bar where they play blues for us on wed night, pool league. thanks rich
  8. this might be impossible to to answer... kinda like the prettiest girl on the planet or the best beer type of thing. how about doc watson? hmmm
  9. i am an independant contractor doing mostly high end residential work. i see all kinds of things that i have ordered come in totaled. it's a bummer indeed. one of my clients is a woman that runs a packing and shipping store just down the road from me. i have crated up every thing from a full dressed honda goldwing to art and custom furniture and antiques worth tons of money. so far nothing i have crated has ever arrived damaged. one of my jobs during my younger days was working in a place building infared gas analyzers. these were used in hospitals and by some big name folks like nasa etc. these were shipped using ups and many of them were comming back damaged and needing re-callibrated. i was asked to help develop packaging that would ensure these things arrived functioning properly. our test was simple, take a unit, box er up and go out front and launch it down the two story flight of steel stairs to the parking lot below. effective re-creation of the handeling received by products. long story short...if you put something in a cardboard box and ship it you are just asking for JUNK to arrive at the other end. the more you write fragile on it the more they try to break it. box it up like you are sending your new born baby in it. then pray.
  10. if alone i prefer what most people i know consider loud. if on the other hand i am trying to socialize i do not like to yell and not be able to hear the conversation... bass akwards as always, i know. i just hate to go out to hear a band with friends and have to wait for a break to try and get in a couple of words.
  11. this person is full of sh!t. tune out the bad, go home and crank up the klipsch!!! all is right with the world.
  12. talk about your double edge sword... have had my own business for 10 yrs now, wouldn't go back unless i had to, but be prepared to work. be fair, be smart, and you should be fine. listen to your customers, really listen, think, then reply. there is a lot more to it than fixing the car sometimes. oh yea get the name of a good tax person and a great lawyer, they might come in handy. best of luck to ya in the years to come. rock on
  13. that looks like a nice pocket knife. i got my first knife when i turned six, still have it and about 35 others. i never am without at least one knife, i normally have two with me. if you are gonna get tossed in jail for a pocket knife you might as well carry a nice .45[]
  14. my first thought was a new pair of shoe strings for my sneakers but then i figured it would just put more strain on the tired eyelets sooooo. i'm just gonna hope for a winning lottery ticket and that way i could get new sneakers AND a tank of gas. Merry Christmas
  15. ya-all have a nice holiday
  16. these are better for playing insturments thru than listening to music? if they are worth $50 then i will pick them up tomorrow.
  17. while working at a customers house today i had to move some things... there was a pair of jbl 4312c monitors, i was offered them for 50.00 as is... they look ok, drivers, cabinets, and grilles, but i havn't heard them yet, these are not horns are they worth the 50 bucks or should i just let em' rot in this garage??? thanks rich
  18. too funny, nearly wet myself laughing. thanks
  19. if you want a reason to feel better about your stereo systems you are welcome to come over to my house and listen to mine[:'(] it is certain to send you home jazzed to hear your own gear again. and it might make you want to help us both out by selling me some corns or ls, after all it IS better to give (read sell) than receive. seriously though don't let yourself slip into a real funk before seeking some professional help. there is nothing funny about depression.
  20. there is one nice advantage to heritage that i didn't see mentioned, you can always get your money back with re-sale if you don't like what you buy... now if you buy New rf7's you might have some trouble selling them at the price you paid if you sell quickly??? i really like my forte's and they are in a 14x16 room, not much bigger than yours, they are a good place to start i think. big full horn sound in a smallish cabinet at a good price. good listening to you rich
  21. just keep the remote wraped in the fabreeze coated rag till it get tollerable?
  22. sorry but those pesky kids and their college funds... perhaps in a few years when things quiet down around here[] edit: however if you do find the backing i hope you offer the ones you don't want here first, there are a few very nice albums in there indeed
