  1. That plinth must weigh 100 lbs! Looks pretty cool too! Jeremy
  2. I have suffered mental anguish from reading this thread. I know, I know, I don't have to read it, but it's like a car wreck. I just can't look away. [+o(] Jeremy
  3. Thanx for bringing every Mac thread in the archives to the top. [8-)] Jeremy
  4. Sansui? SP-300 maybe? They sure look cool, but how do they sound. Especially sitting in the shadow of the mighty Cornwall. I've found a few different speakers that I thought sounded good, until I A,B'ed with my Cornwalls. Jeremy
  5. Are these the ones that were on eBay from Exeter, NH? If so they were very nice looking and a good price to boot. Jeremy
  6. Hey, I like the 075 bullet tweeters. Mine are on a n2400 crossover with adjustable L-pads, but I still like the sound. So many years in the shop has killed my hearing though [:$] Jeremy
  7. I would have a really hard time choosing one over the other. I love, love, love my Cornwalls. I also have a (4) RF-7 based home theater, but I also really like my JBL's. I think it's just a horn thing, as I prefer the JBL horn loaded speakers. I'm just a horn head. I don't own any Altec, but I sure would like to. James B. Lansing and Paul Klipsch were both deep into compression drivers and horn loading. I think that is why I admire the work of both men. The JBL drivers are definately not as durable as Klipsch drivers. Most all old JBL drivers need at least a refoam. And parts are very cost prohibitive. I just bought some JBL 18" woofers that need a recone, and the JBL "factory" recone kit cost almost 3 times what I paid for the woofers. JBL has a huge variety of drivers which lends well to the DIY crowd. Duke spinner is another JBL fan. Where is that guy? Have not seen him around here in a while! Jeremy
  8. Great work and excellent info guys! Lisa, I have a square tuit, but it has never worked as well as the round tuit. JC I sent you a PM. Jeremy

  10. I would like to offer more kudos for Mark. I bought a used Blueberry Extreme from a forum member a while back. It had some issues from the get go. After trying some things he suggested that didn't work, Mark told me to send it in and he would repair it free of charge. I still had a problem after he sent it back, but he offered more advice and with some patients I found the problem. I don't mean to high jack your thread Larry, but I've been meaning to give Mark his props for being so patient with me, and working on my BBX free of charge even though I did not buy it from him. That says alot about his character. Also I will concur on what a great product it is. Before owning the BBX I only had my turntables hooked up to the phonostage in different stereo receivers. I never owned a preamp with a dedicated phono stage before. The great phono section and tubes really brought my vinyl to life. I also have to admire its beauty everytime I walk by it. What a great piece. Thanx Mark. Jeremy
  11. As a fellow JBL fan, I can relate to your enthusiasim for the L-300's. Although I did not get into stereos until about a decade after you Dave, I have fond memories of JBL and Klipsch heritage lines from hanging with my uncle. I would love to jump in the fray on these, but I just bought a pair of JBL 2245 18" woofers that i'm going to have enough trouble trying to hide from my wife. I'm thinking of a DIY project with JBL 077's and Altec mid horn and driver, similar to what Luther "Wardsweb" has done. I'll be anxiously watching this auction. I hope you can pull it off. Jeremy
  12. Scroll down to the iFi forum. You may have better luck getting your question answered there.
  13. Quaterbacks with less talent than Grossman have won the Superbowl, i.e. Jeff Hostetler, Trent Dilfer. He is young and raw, but has lots of potential. He did not play at his best yesterday, but he can't be expected to carry the rest of the team that failed to show up. I feel any true Bear fan that thinks Lovey Smith should be gone is just plain ignorant. He has been head coach for 2 seasons. The 1st resulted in a #2 seed playoff birth and the 2nd resulted in a Superbowl appearence. I don't know of any team with realistic expectations that would not be very happy with those results. I'm a Bear fan until the end no matter how many Superbowls they lose. Congrats to Indy and their fans. The Colts outplayed the Bears and deserved to win. Oh yeah, Always bet with your head and not with your heart. Jeremy
  14. I'm not cooking, but i'll be eating a Giordanno's stuffed pizza, in Chicago tradition. Jeremy
  15. One of my favorite movies of all time, Pete. Jeremy
  16. What do the MC-30's have that the MC-40's don't have, or have more of? This is coming from someone who has only heard the MC-275. Jeremy
  17. You need 6 RCA cables (3 pair) to connect 5.1 SACD or DVDA to a non Denon reciever. If your DVD player has the Denon-link digital connection, it can only be used with a Denon receiver. Does your Marantz have SACD/DVDA 6 RCA analog inputs? If so that's what you need. Good luck to you. Jeremy
  18. I believe you are correct it is Battista's not Bataglia's. Bataglia's is a Italian grocery that I occasionaly visit. Must have had their capicola on my mind. Jeremy
  19. I did not see if you are renting a car or not. If not I suggest using the "Duece" for transportation. It is by far the best bang for the buck. I think it's $5 for a 24 hour pass, or $2 for one-way. There are lots of these double decker buses, so you never have to wait more than 5 minutes for one to show up. I also suggest staying somewhere in the middle of the strip. This has worked well for me in the past. You can go one direction one day, and the other direction the next day. Last time we went we stayed at the Imperial Palace. It was cheap, and right in the middle. My wife and I walked from IP to the Stratosphere and back. That was a haul. Everything is alot farther away than it looks. My favorite Hotel is the Venetian. I would love to stay there someday, but we spend so little time in the hotel room, that we can't justify the cost. We prefer to stay somewhere a bit cheaper, which frees up money for blackjack and poker. I highly recommend an Italian eatery called Bataglia's Hole in the Wall. It is a couple blocks off the strip on whatever cross road Balley's is on. It is the best Italian place I have ever been to. You get all the wine you can drink with dinner! Have fun, and good luck! Jeremy
  20. I saw those KLF-30 auctions. I did not have a good feeling about them. Same guy selling 4 sets of KLF-30's. Also he is using a picture from another current auction. I hope it all works out for you. Also based on his feedback, it looked fishey to me. Good luck on your transaction. It will be a pretty sweet deal if it works out. Jeremy
  21. I think the analog versions make the coffee "warmer" than your digital coasters would. [] Jeremy
