  1. I've never heard that one before. I always figured if you have a hinged dust cover, why not put it down while playing, It will minimize the amount of dust your records pick up. I'd be interested to hear a logical reason why to not put it down. Jeremy
  2. I concur with Duke. Heck for a Benji, i'd buy it just to hear how it sounds. Jeremy
  3. Thanx Bob. I was not on here the 1st time around. There is some great info in there. Jeremy
  4. Luther, a while back I was inspired by your big DIY speakers. What mid driver are you using on that Altec horn. I see the tweet looks like the the sweet JBL 077 slot. I remember you talking about tweeking the port length a while back, to get it right. Which JBL woof is that. Also if I have not asked too many questions yet, how didi you go about designing the crossover? Tanx for any info you wish to offer,. Jeremy
  5. The truck could have hit any number of things, on its way to the door, that could have knocked out the tail light. Maybe there was a Porsche or Mercedes in the driveway that the truck nailed before ripping down the door and driving up on top of the Ferrari. Jeremy
  6. Try looking here for help. There is a whole forum for Pro Media 4.1. http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/13/ShowForum.aspx Jeremy
  7. Bob Crites (BEC on this forum) sells the k33's for $99 each on eBay. If your JBL d130's are the 16 ohm version, then i'm sure you could sell them for at least $200 if not more to recoup some cost. I just paid more than that for a mint pair of D130's. Bob could probably be able to sell you some mid horns and possibly the k55's too. He may even give you advice on the crossover. He's a one stop shop! I'll be calling on him soon for some K33's and his CT125 tweeter for my Cornwall "Clonewall" project. I plan to build mine with a removeable motorboard so I can do some experimenting with different horns and drivers. I'll probably use t-nuts to attach the motorboard, so I don't tear up the screw strips. Good luck with your project. Lots of good advice to be had here. Jeremy
  8. WOW! Congrats man. That is great news. [H] Jeremy
  9. Well, they are planning the next Pilgrimage. I think you two crazy Germans would fit right in. Jeremy
  10. I find it interesting that you mixed an album with RF-7's. To me they seem way too forward to be used as a monitor. I'm glad it worked for you though. Don't get me wrong, I love my RF-7's (I have 4 in my home theater), but I would spit on them and kick them over to get to my Cornwalls. Welcome to the forum. (Ignore this cynical American) Jeremy
  11. When I was a kid my brother was a huge Kiss fan, which made me a fan by default, because we only had one record player and he was alot bigger than me. I agree with the statement about Vinnie almost ruining Kiss. I distincly remember the video for Lick It Up, where the band is walking down the street in a post apocolyptic scene, with stuff burning around them. Anyway, they are walking down the street singing, and all you can see of Vinnie is his arm swinging as he is walking. He was on the end, and they cut him out of the scene. We thought it was hilarious. ROCK ON VINNINE! Jeremy
  12. Mike L, My 3009 is an improved with a fixed headshell. I think the effective mass is around 6.5g. It's a pretty light arm so I think i'm going to need around a 20 compliance cart (i'm thinking about the Grado Gold). I would rather have the early version so I could go with a LOMC like the Denon, but I only paid $50 for it so I couldn't pass it up. It's missing the plug, so the leads need to be resoldered. I think i'm going to convert it to RCA plugs. It's missing a couple pieces, like the tone arm rest, and the long screws for the screening can, but I think I can make it work. At the price I paid I could probably quadruple my investment if necessary. Jeremy
  13. Glad to hear it's back up and running well. I'm glad to know that we were not hearing things. We were in a hurry that day that I heard it at your house, and I felt bad that I was of no help. After we left I thought of about 5 things we could have tried if i'd had time to hang out. I was going to post in that thread, but you had alot of good advice from others much more experienced than I. Plus the thread was getting pretty heated so I decided to stay quiet. Glad to hear it is all well now. Welcome to Thorens bliss. I just got a SME 3009 tone arm for my td-124. It needs a little work, (like most things I own) but it was a good deal. Now I need to find a decent high compliance cart for it. Good luck, and rock on brother [8] Jeremy
  14. Why do all the customer service complaints revolve around the Pro Media lineups? Coming on Klipsch's forum and complaining about them in your 1st post is not going to win you alot of friends. Good luck to you. Jeremy
  15. I'm not going to be able to sleep tonight now. I'm redoing some JBL c-38 cabs that are just begging for those nice D-130's. I just have to be strong.......................I don't need them, I don't need them, I don't need them, I don't need them, I don't need them..........
  16. If you must wire (3) 8 ohm speakers on one channel, here is what I suggest. +Amp to +Chorus / -Amp to -Chorus paralleled to +Amp to + Forte -Forte to +Quartet -Quartet to -Amp This should give you a little over a 5 ohm load. If your have not melted your receiver yet, it will certainly withstand this load. Good luck to you. Jeremy
  17. You would if you were running McIntosh speakers []
  18. Welcome Werner. I wish we had some American retailers with your passion and enthusiasim. Jeremy
