  1. I have the 981 player and I certainly noticed a very nice difference in picture quality and color depth compared to the harman/kardon unit it replaced. My tv is a 1080p, though. If I were you I might look at Oppo's 970 player which is only $149. I guarantee no $149 player will be better than the Oppo and the Oppo will be better than 99.9% of players in that price range and more.
  2. Advantages: Takes some of the strain off your receiver because its letting the sub amplify everything below 80Hz. Disadvantages: Your RF-35s can definitely play below 80Hz so it might take a little of their 'punch' away. Like others have said, doesn't cost anything to try. Go with what sounds best to you.
  3. I laughed so hard my wife got upset because she was really into the movie she was watching. [] I'm going to forward this to all the males I know!
  4. Oh yeah! Took it out on the highway, turned onto it slowly and hammered it at about 20mph. The 1-2 shift just about made the car do a wheel stand! I think there might have been some mods under the hood or to the tranny that the seller didn't know about. The exhaust sure sounds awesome...deep at lower rpms and it really screams at upper rpms. Next week's forecast is sunny every day and 70+ for temps. Like I said...this is going to be a fun summer! [H]
  5. That's the most disgusting thing I've ever read about! The kid apparently killed it with a pistol, too. The thing is so big it could hardly run let alone waddle. He probably just walked right up to it and put one in its brain.
  6. Not yet, Buck. Too rainy yesterday, didn't want to spin out the first day I owned it! This weekend should be pretty nice though... []
  7. Well, its home. Oldbuckster, this Mustang came with a complete Borla stainless steel exhaust sytem from the headers back. If it hadn't I probably would have installed some FlowMasters on. It rained most of the way home so I wasn't able to drive with the top down yet. Supposed to be pretty nice next week though so I'll get a chance to then.
  8. 4.6. I believe that 97 was the last year for the 5.0. Both take to mods very well. I personally think Miatas are too small for my taste. They're also a little too 'chick car' for me.
  9. Eh, not necessarily. Not a lot to pick from in a high performance convertible, rear wheel drive for under $10k!
  10. I'm lucky, my company puts in 3% of each check no matter if I contribute or not, plus a year end contribution. Average is around 8-9% of my yearly income
  11. I know I've said/done some things that you and other people on here haven't agreed with, Frzninvt. I really want to be friends or at least tolerated by everyone on here, ok? [8-|]
  12. I can't believe how many records are being set almost every day! I have money in a 401(k) through work so I can't really touch it for another 27 years or so. It is nice to see how much money is in there and see it grow, though. Anyone pessimistic about the market's near future?
  13. Nothing too terribly special, GT with a Borla exhaust system. Automatic transmission. I like the fact that there's a huge aftermarket for Mustangs. Doesn't take too many $$ to make them much faster/quicker.
  14. Same as the below Mustang, except in a convertible with a black top. It'll be the first convertible that I've owned. I've always wanted one. It will be a present to my wife and I for our 5th wedding anniversary next month!
  15. Are they connected by a metal jumper? As long as they are, it doesn't really matter which ones you connect them to. Some people remove the jumpers and separately amplify the high frequency and low frequency sections. Or some people run two sets of positive and negative cables from the amp/receiver and split them between the HF and LF sections. Most people have good results just leaving the jumpers in place and hooking up the wires to either the HF or LF sections.
  16. To see if any interference clears up, try moving your cables and separating power cables from coaxial, interconnects and speaker cables. How many outlets do you have available? Are you able to split your components over 2 different wall outlets?
  17. I put up several 12"x12"x2" wedge panels in my room as well as 24"x3"x3" corner blocks. It definitely made my room much less echoey. I put up 4 squares on the side walls to absord the first reflections, and in the upper rear corners of my room and in the front upper corners. I think the foam cost me about $65 shipped through foambymail.com and I still have several squares and a couple of corner blocks left over. I could tell a nice difference in sound, smoother overall. I'm used to it right now but I guarantee that if someone came over and tore all of it down and then brought me in the room blindfolded I'd be able to tell.
  18. ??? I'm not sure why they keep getting flagged for removal. If anyone on here is doing it, KNOCK IT OFF. [] They're not mine, I'm just putting the word out on a great deal for Forte IIs! http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/ele/332694862.html

    Deja Vu

My wife was disappointed in how Val looked. I really liked the movie.
  20. They've been relisted. http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/ele/331968443.html
  21. Alright, if someone wants to use this as a forum sticky or FYI on how to upload a pic for a post, here goes: When you're responding to a post or when you're starting a new thread, you'll notice that there's 4 tabs above the area you're typing that are labeled Compose, Options, Related and Preview. In order to post a picture that's on your hard drive, click on the Options button. You'll then see the words File Attachment with a little button below that that says Add/Update. Click on the Add/Update button. A window will open that says 'Select the file you want to upload using the form below.' There will also be a button labeled Browse. Click on the Browse button and a window will open allowing you to locate the picture on your hard drive that you'd like to post. Once you have located the picture, either double click on it or click on it once and click on the button that says 'Open' in the lower right of the window. Once that has been done, click on the button that says 'Save.' Then click on the button that says 'Post.' You're done!
  22. http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/ele/331456208.html I have to admit, I almost bought them to resell them on eBay but I wanted to give my fellow forum friends a chance at them.
  23. Watched the animated movie Open Season a couple nights ago and even though the movie sucked it looked unbelievable on the Oppo DV-981 that I have. I've been very pleased with the player and actually am using it as my CD player as well.
  24. Congrats on the great deal!!! Now I have another competitor in the MPLS/ST Paul area for Klipsch goods. [] Been waiting for Wuzzzer to run out of money so some of the deals fall through the cracks. [] Also, welcome to the Forum!!!!!! JJ [] Don't worry, I'm buying a new car within the next couple of months that will tie up all my speaker money for a loooooong time.
