  1. drool, drool..... very nice work, gentelmen. paul
  2. nope... plum cross threaded. looked unmolested when i first pulled it out . had the white nylon pipe tape that was original. horn not damaged in any way. it just looked like the guy that put it together at the factory jammed it in crooked. it was only screwed in about a third of the way, crooked. i am glad it i was able to just gently get the threads going again , and reseat it all the way in to the orange rubber gasket. paul
  3. tryed to email you but unsure if it was sent and you recieved ! paul dow 34698 dunedin, fl (near tampa)
  4. not the klf 30 speaker. i switched the speaker wires and the transient distortion went over to the other channel. i then switched out the cj 60se tubes and the problem is gone. shouldhave trouble shot it little more before i blamed the problem on the speaker. one good thing...... i initally thought the mid was damaged because i found it screwed in cockeyed to the plastic horn, when i treaded it out some of the threads in the horn were striped... but i was able to carefully thread it back to seat it on the rubber gasket. thanks for the replys to my problem. paul
  5. ok - i will switch rca/channel jacks and then speaker leads for r/l. to narrow things down more. then report back. thanks for the suggestions and guidence. regards paul
  6. hi - switched the tubes and problem still occurs in the one speaker paul
  7. it seems the mid on one of my klf's is distorting some passages of dire straits today. i pulled it out of the box , unscrewed it , ? dont know what to look for , it looked ok. put it back , same distortion. the tweeters never have sounded great (these klfs are about a year old with me) and i am wondering if i should replace/upgrade the diaphrams on the tweeter/mids ? thanks for any advice. paul dow

  12. only so much damage can occur to a ordinarily well packed item. if the item represented to you arrives to you damaged it may have - 1) been packed poorly 2) been packed poorly and handled poorly 3) been damaged already and packed poorly 4) been damaged/packed/handled poorly. the seller ought to take responsiblity for seeing of packing well. 99.5 % of time i think most folks are up front on trying to ship well. it would be interesting to see shipping carton and damaged contents to try and tell if fraud was intended. the shipper may be slack in makeing things right (maybe). i am sure shippers are aware of ebay con artists trying to make them (shippers ) pay for there (ebay sellers) broken items via a insurance scam.
  13. thanks for selling here. if still available i would like 6 . thanks p.dow@knology.net paul

  15. not with the cornwalls yet. but i did find a pair of klf 30's with a klf c-7 center that i going to have some fun with. thanks for asking. paul
  16. my 9 watt tube amp has a volume dial and i use the bellari to listen to vinyl out of my khorns. system rocks. no problem. paul
  17. go with bob on these caps. it has been recommended by others here that when you do something like this... for fun do one network first , install it and do a mono speaker to speaker listening test to compare with your original old caps in the other speaker. so you might be able to see (hear) the change brought about by the new caps. something to ponder. paul (just ordered replacement caps for my 85's)
  18. congrats on now owning your friends khorns. you have been blessed. when you slowly turn up the volume on your 68"s for the first time i hope you hear wonderful music. have fun. paul

  20. rsp1068 thanks for the summary. i plan on my rf7's doing front lt/rt duty for the generic a/v living room setup..... so sounds like my 140w/ch yamaha ought to cut it. one thing though - after reading this thread -i am intrigued at the prospect of trying out the rf-7's with my tube amp... just to check the combination out over some old lp's ... thanks for posting paul
  21. hello - never had a pair but i am now looking . prefer the I's . thanks for any heads up. paul p.dow@knology.net
  22. very nice. amazeing... what once was on the curb... is now a work of functional art. i feel inspired. paul
  23. i am hopeing to acquire a set of rf 7's soon and this thread has me thinking. i went to a old ref. series catalog and see what the ' power handling ' number for the rf 7's is. it is 250 w (1000 w peak). does this mean that the ideal capabilities of this speaker are best heard with a 250w/ch amplifier ? if one has a 140w/ch amp is there really anything lost in not haveing the 250w/ch amp.? what would be the lowest w/ch amp for average use with rf 7 ? or maybe that is the right question. is it what is the highest ? got a 140 amp do i need a 250 amp ? just wondering thanks paul
