  1. Tough stuff you went through Jim, sorry to hear of that painful past. Hope i didn’t add to it. I’ve been drug free since 1980 -- and alcohol free since 2010. I know what it is like to feel so helpless and even hopeless that you just want to escape reality and forget about all the crap; and i do still sympathize with those that haven’t overcome those feelings. Ok … back to the music talk.
  2. So what do you think about The Wall? If you can call that a Pink Floyd work … I know Roger thinks it is all his (and most of it is) but, i heard David Gilmour say that he came up with some of the music. There are several tracks that I like -- and some that i don’t. Not sure if it makes my Top Five of Floyd LPs; but, probably. Their earlier work was vastly different … San Tropez from Meddle (which i like) and Bike from Piper at the Gates of Dawn, and the song Cymbaline probably wouldn’t be recognized as Floyd songs by the novice listener.
  3. Thank God that you took serious that tough lesson. I know this is a sensitive topic for some; but, i laugh at myself on this issue. I guess because I’m alive and, truly by the grace of God, avoided the Gray Bar Hotel. My mom was killed by a drunk driver on a Thanksgiving Night (yes, i was there as an eight year old to see it) and the injuries from the accident contributed to my Dad’s death five months later. Have friends that some died, some went to jail, some ruined careers, some ended college education. I have seen the devastating effect that drugs and alcohol can have on people and families and if i don’t laugh at myself--I’ll go nuts; so I hope that poking fun at myself hasn’t brought up painful memories for anyone. If it has, i truly apologize. The sad part is that I’d probably do it again … because i’m stupid enough to believe that i could do stupid stuff smarter the next time.
  4. That woman is Claire Torry--she was a session musician and worked with the likes of Alan Parsons and Meatloaf (and many others). Whilst i like the screaming parts, she did sue Pink Floyd claiming to be a contributor to their song The Great Gig in the Sky.
  5. If there is enough room for all the photos in RTM, there is enough room my friend. But PLEASE no photos of your indiscretions.
  6. I must agree. Very tough call on this one; but, i give the edge to Dark Side of the Moon -- it just has a presence to it that others don’t have--which is why it gets the nod over Wish You Were Here (In case anyone doesn’t know, Roger Waters said that album should have been named Wish WE were here; because their problems had already caused such a rift). Although, my very favorite Floyd song is Shine on You Crazy Diamond (the entire song) … have played that one in a dark room many times.
  7. i hear ya…currently taking prednisone to get rid of some inflammation … spinal stenosis they say.
  8. Where do you find the strength to continue? (says the man that is still in bed at 8:19 am, and has a Keurig machine in the kitchen; but, has never used it…still go out and get a cup from a local eatery).
  9. once again my friend--well done. That’s what I buy. I’m a VOX man!
  10. we used to dream of getting a rock … (haven’t we been here before?)
  11. RIP Ms. Douglas … your critters will miss you for sure.
  12. where did you go on vacay? even friends feel the wrath of my punkness.
  13. if your first name is Ray--we could call you Old Red Ray. i’ve always wondered if that calibration was worth the cost -- I’ve heard that yes, it is; but, have never heard from anyone that has actually had it done.
  14. I’ve been recording episodes lately. I remember being a small kid, sneaking into the hallway after my bedtime to try to watch Bonanza.
  15. i wasn’t the only one? Back in about 1980 or 81, i bought a betamax “on sale” for $600. Top loading machine, about the size of a small suitcase. blank tapes were about $20 just checked this website that said $600 in 1981 is the equivalent of $1,620 in 2014. now i feel even more dumb; but, then again, being the first on the block with video machine made me look cool.
  16. Alert.... Re-runs.... lol.... That’s okay by me … been enjoying Bonanza and Hogan’s Heroes again lately...
  17. Not that the “sharks” know everything; but, i laugh at how some people, with probably very little experience, if any; will argue with them about specifics of production, marketing, etc.. One episode this guy had a great idea for these single serving wines -- he insisted on his company doing it all. The Sharks were telling him that he’d make more money selling the (license?) to an existing beverage company (this product was great for selling in movie theaters, concerts, etc…). The guy wouldn’t believe them and walked away empty-handed.
  18. While any cure is fantastic news, the cynical part of me knows how much money there is in research, medication, treatment and i wonder if those making money want a cure? A lot of people would be finding new jobs. Please excuse me, i didn’t at all intend to rain on your parade--I lost both my biological and adoptive fathers to cancer (one aged 35 and one 45) so I’m all for curing this completely.
  19. Nice spread there Schu. Looks good.
  20. Not the easiest thing to do; but, i applaud you brother. The high road isn’t the easiest path to travel; but, it is most definitely the most rewarding. Well Done.
  21. I'm looking for a bag of boxes, you got any of those? Aisle 3
  22. Those of you from the future…what’s it like in 2015? Should i spend the final three hours of 2014 in excitement or should i head east to stay ahead of Father Time a bit longer? Are you guys flying around in spaceships? Wearing Shiny Silver Suits?
