Hey Jeff--congrats, i’m back down to size 32 myself. Once upon a time, 38 was getting very tight. i think 32 is what i was wearing in high school. most folks my age are increasing their waist--my is shrinking.

Amen to that. I smoked not only cigs; but, cigars, pipes, and (and i’m not joking) obscene amounts of pot every single day for years. I had enough money to live on, so i just partied all day and all night. Got stoned one afternoon and went on a beer run. Walking across the parking lot of the liquor store and i got short of breath suddenly -- never been the same since … that was 1980. Now i take pills and inhalers to keep my lungs and airways working. It sucks. I joke around and blame it on Jimmy Carter because there was talk back then of the govt funding the spraying of marijuana plants with paraquat--thinking that nobody would smoke it if it had been sprayed with poison--they were wrong, at least one person still did. Although, nobody else i know from that circle of friends ever got sick…so it was probably just my body saying “I’ve had enough."

Doctor asked me if I smoked. I said, "Only when I'm on fire."

I'd met Don Van Vliet (aka Captain Beefheart) a few times before he passed away ... we lived in the same town and i was a friend of a guy that once played in his band. Can't say he was a great singer; but, he was quite entertaining and had the admiration of a great many musicians. Last time I saw him was at a 7-11 Convenience Store -- he was buying ice cream--he said he loved ice cream (coincidently he named one of his albums Ice Cream for Crow). Trout Mask Replica was ranked #58 on Rolling Stone's 2012 list of The 500 Greatest Albums of All-Time.

I am in the Moosehead Hall of Fame...i think i kept that brewery in business since 1980...until my pancreas decided to get mad at me. Never an alcoholic or anything; but, I partied hard and for a long time. Can't say the alcohol caused the problem; but, pancreatitis is aggravated by booze. My cousin had just died from pancreatic cancer and it kinda freaked me out and scared the desire to drink out of me. Once i quit, i lost a lot of weight and diverted the money to my guitar habit.

I'm my own grandpa. i just felt like saying that...funny song.

One time, one of my great grandmothers cut short a family vacation by getting tossed in jail. the rest of the family had to chip in and bail her out. My other great grandmother could still double pick a banjo WELL into old age. The two sides of my family tree are VERY different.

heard on the radio this morning that a lot of neighborhood pubs in England are closing...grocery stores taking their places. the people aren't too happy about it. Apparently, a couple of big companies own many of the pubs.

sorry to hear about your migraines. i sure hope you find some long lasting relief very soon.

what about failures--people that just can’t accomplish anything? such as attributing quotes to the wrong people? apologies … that must make me part of the mainstream media.

sounds like you jacked up the battery and put a new car under it. congrats, hope you enjoy it. I bought a BMW 528 last year and loved it so much that i was constantly driving it…to the point that my insurance company jacked up my premium for excessive miles!

Welcome. Hold tight and the advice (from those far more experienced on the ins & outs of audio) will chime in. Post your location…perhaps a forum member lives in your area and you can take him out to lunch and check out the speakers at the same time. I’m a bit paranoid from having lived in some unsafe areas, so take someone with you when you go to a strangers house and let someone know the address that your going to … just in case. I’ve never had a problem personally; but, i always bring a very large friend with me…plus he can carry the heavy stuff if i buy it. Good luck.
