  1. oh great, and i thought it was my sucky guitar playing that was ruining the environment--turns out it's not me after all, it's actually the guitar.
  2. back in my coast guard days, i was at school in yorktown, va when hurricane gloria came through. the barracks were basically a fortress of brick and i slept through the hurricane. while underway on the way to hawaii, rode through a cyclone though--waves weren't very big (maybe 15 feet) but winds were over 70mph.
  3. Colter is still around, but has been working alot doing the sound for bands, and I can't forget OB, had just read that thread a while back when he was sick and later when his son made some post. What about Duke Spinner ? yeah i know Colter is still alive & well--I was just trying to bait him into making a cameo post. I've exchanged several PMs with him and have always enjoyed the exchange. Sadly, being out here in the wild, wild west coast, i've never gotten the opportunity to meet him or many of the others that i talk to regularly--yourself included Mr. Dtel. You seem like a fine dude too. in a way, this forum reminds me of being in the military--you get to know a some folks and then they're gone. But I'll stick around to be a pain in your neck, that is my pledge to you!
  4. wish i knew how to do stuff like that. Good luck, hope it turns out great.
  5. I remember Nicolti--never met him; but, i think he lived in los angeles. if memory serves me well, he posted pix of his set-up and he had some real nice gear. Just recently i was wondering whatever happened to him. I also remember this real cool cat named Colter; but, hardly ever hear from him anymore. And I'll take this opportunity to once again say RIP my friend OldBuckster.
  6. tiresome? isn't the sun doing most of the work? oh wait, i should have asked, do you still have a sense of humor when you're burning up?
  7. i'm not worried...the fault line is all the way on the other side of the patio.
  8. 5.8 can definitely cause a lot of damage, expecially in an area that hasn't been retrofitted for a quake of that magnitude--and people getting killed or hurt is never funny.
  9. i'm sure my next guitar will be delayed as they will want a sizable donation. i'm lucky though, i didn't realize i was going that fast because usually when i do--i push it just long enough to hit triple digits and then slow down. it's just too tempting not too. []
  10. i hardly even notice them unless they're fairly substantial. I've been in too many too count; but, not many huge ones. 6.6 that lasted one minute; but, caused over $500 million in damage. worse part about earthquakes is that the news talks about "the next big one" for so long that you start wishing the big one would come just to knock the station off the air.
  11. Was on the 5 fwy travelling up to Oakland, when this guy flags me down. Gives me some sort of certificate for being able to drive through traffic at 93 mph--then he said they're even going to send me more stuff in the mail. Wow, those folks sure are friendly. He asked me if there was a reason that I was driving 93mph, "yeah, it's a medical reason; but, i can't tell you--doctor/patient confidentiality." []
  12. i want to participate but the only thing i can offer is: (1) drive up to the signage; (2) yell your order into the microphone; (3) pull forward to the window to pay and get your food. I use this recipe for every meal, everyday and it works...but, it is getting rather old. []
  13. what is a vacation? My section is down to a staff of two--me & the boss. One high level manager got fed up with this place and walked in one day, packed her office, and quit. two others have found work elsewhere. Leaving the college drop-out behind (me). Now I have duties for stuff i've never done, don't know how to do, with a huge backlog and looming deadlines. I did manage to get two days off though.
  14. Mine are normally when I'm having a long heart to heart talk with my wife. I typically wake up with a headache for some reason. i take it that your wife doesn't know that this forum exists, thus you can make such a statement? []
  15. i still think women are the best invention ever; but, beer is up there on the list too.
  16. i wonder if the one at the ballpark is similar to the old diners or if the dogs are completely different? Not sure if you have Caspar's up in your area; but, that's an excellent dog! In fact, heading to Oakland this weekend and plan to make Caspar's my first meal when I arrive.
  17. i'm a germaphobe; but, a guitar would get me to dumpster dive--one can never have too many guitars. Very good score!
  18. I'm guessing 3 orders. It is a very sweet park. We usually take the ferry across SF Bay, right to the ballpark. And yes, there's a Doggie Diner right inside, but I've been told to avoid it. Plenty of other things to choose (including dogs), though. Doggie Diner brings back very old memories, as i lived in Hayward for many years (many years ago).
  19. fini--how many garlic fries could you buy at the ballpark with 25 bucks? i think the Giants have the best looking ballpark in all of baseball. Only been there once; but, it is a very cool place. I think there was a doggie diner in there too???
  20. Thanks, he's changing so fast, he looks completely different (to me) than the pics on the previous page. I'm curious as to what he'll weigh in at on Friday's vet visit. years ago had a st. bernard and his looks changed quickly too. dogs are cool.
  21. I tried soaking in apple cider; but, i didn't help the ribs any--just made me smell funny for a few days. []
  22. Very cool looking pup--congratulations.
  23. Yikes! I thought napping was what we had jobs for.
  24. While I agree that is a good score, you could have gotten about a dozen McRib sandwiches. []
