  1. correct JB, they have a green light; but, no green arrow, so they are free to turn left when it is safe. sadly most of the drivers only look for oncoming traffic and don't check the crosswalks.
  2. But it's Del Taco (not sure if you have them in the bay area). i'm a pathetic bachelor--i've been eating out for over two years now.
  3. thank you amy--i have a new found respect for you. I won't utter those words either--i just think it's dumb (and I actually like the saints). Although I can't utter the slogan of my team anymore either, the oakland raiders "just win baby." it has kinda lost it's ring the past several years. i'm a huge peyton manning fan, so i hated seeing him lose.
  4. Not sure what you mean here. By Ent did you mean Entwistle? I hope not because he's been dead for about six years. Not to say that they didn't dig him up and put the bass in his hands though. like most of the aged rockers, the voice is the first to go. saw joe walsh on tv the other day--not very good either.
  5. yes, we must give them their due. i'm actually happy for drew brees--i didn't like the way san diego treated him, so it's great to see him win a superbowl and they're still trying. a couple of things though i'm getting tired of hearing. new orleans was destined to win because of hurricane katrina--come on, that was years ago...kinda hard to connect these two events now. heard a guy on espn radio this morning talking about this and he said, "yeah 9-11 sure helped the new york knicks didn't it." also, it is way to soon to start talking about where brees ranks amongst the all time greats; but, that is the first thing i heard this morning. i guess those cats on the radio have to talk about something.
  6. had my house broke into once. they never caught the people. i thought i was okay because i had replacement insurance coverage. then the insurance company says that i have to buy the items and them send them the receipt as proof that i replaced the stuff, then they'd depreciate it and send me what was left. that made me so mad--what if i don't have the money to replace the items? fortunately, they only took a mac and a laptop and some minor items--had a pair of heresy speakers and the entire synergy F3 set-up, with a nice amp all right there but they didn't touch it. guess they were looking for stuff they could carry out easily. criminals suck! i'm really getting sick of a lot of stuff--i work in an active gang area and everything that isn't moving is getting graffeti spray painted on it. can't walk through our parking lot without seeing syringes or used condoms. i like to walk at lunch; but, i can't enjoy it, as i'm too busy looking at the ground trying not to step on this stuff.
  7. So, i grab some take out food from this place on the corner and am crossing the street coming home. The same food place and the same intersection where I got ran over last year. This is no lie, i'm within a step or two from being in the exact same spot that i got nailed, when this truck comes speeding past me. Another case of the driver making a left turn, not looking to see if anyone is walking in the crosswalk. fortunately, this time i was crossing from the opposite direction, so i was facing traffic this time and saw the guy coming and had time to stop. It's a huge intersection and a vehicle is able to get up a good speed before they hit the crosswalk area--not sure that I would have been able to survive this one based on how fast this joker was going. Steve
  8. all drinks on your tab? that's a very dangerous offer my friend. i just broke up with my girlfriend, so i could down many beers if i let myself. what a wild roller coaster ride my life has become. bought myself a new tv this weekend, a 46" LG LCD. I'm kinda disappointed with the picture and am considering taking it back. everytime i tell myself to take it back, i'll change channels and the picture looks great. i know that some stations provide better quality; but, i'm going to give it till friday to decide if overall i like it or not. bought it a best buy, so i'd better check what their return policy is. take care guys. steve
  9. they're past their prime for sure; but, it wasn't bad at all. i really liked the stage.
  10. yeah, i think i remember a post about preparing to deploy--not sure though.
  11. are with the FBI? Do you have a file on us now? i just want you to know that i found this forum by accident--i was doing an internet search for instructions about how to make sausage.
  12. i think it depends on what kind of tricks the bird does. that's what my friend told me...and he's a cop.
  13. is there really a such thing as snow or is that just something the media wants us to believe? we could be under attack.
  14. Thursday nights; but, i think it also might be on hulu.com or usa network website. check it out, i haven't ran across a person yet that hasn't loved the show.
  15. watched the first season and liked it--don't recall why i stopped watching though. haven't seen it in years now. although i would say the best drama is Burn Notice on USA Network--that is an excellent watch.
  16. Good Evening my friends and Greetings from yet again, rainy southern california. Just got home from dinner: manhatten clam chowder, then a yellowfin tuna steak. Sipping on a diet coke, since i can't drink beer anymore. My shoulder is slightly worse, and i'm pretty sure that I'll be getting surgery soon. Had my MRI the other day and meet again with the surgeon on the 17th. Too much fun scheduled for this upcoming week, as I get an endoscopy on thursday. I'll tell you, since i got ran over by that truck, inside of my stomach is literally the only place on my body that hasn't been looked at, poked, or prodded. Not too worried about the procedure as the doctor says i'll be sleeping and won't remember a thing. thinking about hitting an indian casino tomorrow to play some blackjack, considered making a trip to vegas; but, didn't want to fight the crowds on superbowl weekend. after being holed up in the house last week with a cold, i want to get out and do something this weekend. hope all of you are safe & sound & warm. Regards, Steve
  17. if i plug my iphone into an igroove, can i use it to amplify the ringer volume on incoming calls? i just can't hear my phone ring. if i get an emergency call in the middle of the night, i just won't hear the phone ring (i don't have a home phone either) and thought that would be a good solution--crank up the volume on the igroove at night, just in case the phone rings.
  18. Thanks; but, you're done boiling come over and smack me around some. checked all my pay records for this year--my status didn't change from married to single until June. I would have bet serious money that i did it at the beginning of the year. i get paid every two weeks, so 12 pay periods of the incorrect withholding rate. The change, when it finally happened, was an extra $200 per month increase in fed tax. That's only an additional $1400 in taxes--they claim I owe $2700; but maybe the formula would have zeroed me out--i just don't know. I need to be more responsible; but, i'm only 49. on the bright side, i can buy you all a round tonite. when i divorced, i inherited our $19,000 debt to american express (home renovations and hawaii cruise). when i got divorced and lost my wife's income and my home, i still made the monthly payments. but, they lowered the limit, then said i was over the limit (wasn't over the limit until they started adding bogus fees) . i ignored the fees and just sent them $550 a month payment. they sent me to collection anyway--so i stopped paying them. today they offered to forgive 60% of the debt. they told me to pay 7600 either all at once or 316 a month for two years and they'll call it even; and when paid they will let the credit agencies know that i'm in good standing with them. the guy was very cool on the phone, he kept saying that he was reviewing my record and before this had an excellent record with them.
  19. i'll predict the score before the game even begins. zero to zero (yes, i have won a few bets with that one). I'll say Colts 31 Saints 28
  20. somebody buy me a drink...and fast. now, i don't pay too much attention to a lot of things; but, when i got divorced i changed my withholdings to Single Zero. just did my taxes and it says that i owe $2700 federal and $1800 state. I don't get it. is there a sub-zero category on the withholding form that i don't know about? is it normal for a single guy that is claiming S0 to have to have them withhold additional taxes each month to avoid having to pay? This really caught me by surprise. geez, i guess i should celebrate because i must be in the top 5% of wage earners, since obama said that 95% of americans would get a tax break.
  21. sorry to hear of your problem with the remote and even more so, the poor customer service. i know it sucks and makes you mad; but, don't judge the entire company based on one encounter with an employee. (i don't know jeremy so i can't say if he's a good employee that was having a bad day or not). i can tell you that i've had MANY Klipsch products for 25 years and have only had a problem once.
  22. Chuck, Happy Birthday and sorry for not calling you Mister--I wasn't meaning to be disrespectful to my elder. Happy Birthday my friend. --Steve--
