  1. Dude, are you some sort of Klipsch Space Traveler? It's only 10:25 What's it like in the future?
  2. not by much--i was born in the shadow of the oakland collusium and i was just celebrating a 5 win season as if it were a superbowl win.
  3. i appreciate the effort guys--sadly, that wasn't the song. I hope I don't have to move to London to hear it again. When I heard it, it was before the days of the iphone; but, my brother has one and that application where you hold the phone to the speaker and it tells you the name of the song and the artist--we tried it out and it worked everytime. If I only had it back then. The hard part is that I RARELY listen to the radio--I guess I'll have to just to increase my chances of hearing the song again.
  4. I agree--life ain't always easy and for a bunch of people that I've never met--i sure do have a lot in common with many of you. P.S. Thank you Christy for those encouraging words. I know my Dad wouldn't want me spending my life bummed out about that. I guess it's just one of those "if I could have "do overs" I wish I wouldn't hung out with my Dad. But, you're right-at that time, I had no idea he was close to death. Like Michael said--thanks to everyone for sharing and listening.
  5. thanks; but, that wasn't it. i think i'm going to go insane because i've just got to find out what that song was.
  6. okay--a belated Merry Christmas X 8
  7. I was listening to Virgin Radio London on the internet and they played a song that I have been endlessly searching the internet to find out what it was. I have VERY little to go on; but, it sounded like it was a 60's English song, and the only lyrics that I can remember are the words "Injun" and maybe "milk." Not much to go on; but, it's one of those things that is bugging me like crazy--it has become a quest.
  8. This was difficult, and apologies to the other 1395 songs in my music library: Not in particular order: Bohemian Rhapsody--Queen Like You Do--REO Speedwagon Roundabout--Yes Time--Pink Floyd Siberian Khatru--Yes Undone--The Guess Who March of the Black Queen--Queen Eleanor Rigby--The Beatles Lazy--Deep Purple While My Guitar Lies Bleeding in my Arms--Tuff Darts Honorable Mention: Doctor Doctor--UFO, Space Oddity--David Bowie...help, i can't stop...
  9. I agree with Colin--Steely Dan's Aja should be on that list definately. Queen's Night at the Opera is on the list and I'm happy to see that. That album is incredible on so many different levels. The song "Good Company" was recorded one note at a time (according to guitarist Brian May) and he used the guitar to play the parts of a Dixieland Jazz Band--wouldn't believe it if I hadn't heard him say it.
  10. i beat myself up alot for things that i've done or not done; but, i think that having some regrets in life is unavoidable. I'm sure that our parents understand, and they probably can relate to us doing other things as they probably did the same when they were younger. i broke down not too long ago when somebody brought out some old home movies. i was 8 years old and it was Christmas (1968). i was on the ground playing with my Christmas toys and my Dad was sitting in a chair behind me. He was recovering from a broken neck & broken back from a car accident. he was wearing this metal contraption around his head & torso. I watched that movie and started to cry--this was my Dad's last Christmas and my Mom had died on Thanksgiving the previous month. Instead of holding his hand and telling him that I loved him--I was playing with toys. i try to tell myself that I was only eight years old; but, that doesn't comfort me too much. For some reason, I think I should have been more aware of the reality that was around me.
  11. WOW. I LOVE my granddaughter and I'm sure Uncle Marley would agree that there are fewer sights that could have been better to see as you are leaving this life than a beautiful grandchild.
  12. Brother--you're digging yourself in deeper. But, if you insist on holding your ground, I'll go home from work today and clean up the bachelor pad in case you need a place to crash!
  13. well, I've never been accused of being "normal;" but, during my Coast Guard career I had to choose what I believed were the "lesser of two evils" those being moving to Grand Haven, Michigan or Fort Macon, North Carollina. I choose Grand Haven because I had already served on an Icebreaking ship on the Great Lakes. Coming from the Los Angeles area--it was culture shock and I hated it. I remember saying that I'd finish out my enlistment (one year remaining) then I'm going back to California. When that year ended, I had grown to love living in Grand Haven and reelinsted so I could finish the four-year tour. When it came time to transfer I was given the choice of Long Beach, California or Boston--any Laker fan worth his weight would never live in Boston, so I chose to return back "home." It was harder leaving Grand Haven to come home than it was to leave home to go there. But, I moved back home and after two weeks of visiting the old haunts, i asked myself "why was I so eager to come back here?" After a year of being back though, I was back being happy living here and didn't want to leave California again. I don't know how normal that is to be unhappy, then happy, then unhappy, then happy again pertaining to where one lives--I guess when you realize that "this is where I live now" you start looking at the good stuff that place offers--or maybe I'm just neurotic. After all people do tell me that I have plenty of speakers and wonder why I want more.
  14. i was splitting up with my wife last Christmas. Talked to OB about it--he was encouraging. In fact, it was about this time of night last Christmas Day that we corresponded. Merry Christmas OB, and kindest thoughts of comfort to your surviving family.
  15. Doc, you are correct, there will most likely be plenty of leftovers. Gas prices are down, I can leave Southern California now and start driving, i can pick you up probably Sunday, and we can head on down and help them finish off that banquet spread. I wonder if Christy can keep it warm that long???
  16. Marvel, congratulations my friend. I have the awesome privilege of having three grandchildren, in fact, i just spent Christmas Day with two of them. I wish you all nothing but happiness and good health.
  17. Happy Birthday Christy. Haven't seen her post for awhile. I know that Dtel wouldn't let her go over to the dark side (BOSE). Hope all is well.
  18. a tough year indeed; but, I survived...so far. Be careful and have a very Merry Christmas!
  19. Parrot and MAS--are they those two Boarder Patrol officers that the president won't pardon?
  20. all this talk of NoCal and not a mention of my hometown--beautiful downtown Oakland. Nothing like waking up on a spring morning and looking out the window and seeing all that blight.
  21. i thought my wife ALWAYS wanted audio gear...maybe that's why she is now my EX-wife????
  22. Man does that bring back memories! Although it has been 30 years (I guess I'm getting old after all), I went to Coast Guard boot camp in 1978. I remember on graduation morning, being asked "do you have anyone coming to see you graduate?" After answering yes, I was told "Use the phone in my office to tell them not to bother showing up." Due to some pre-graduation festivities the night before, in which I was NOT a participant BUT it was my idea, I was not allowed to graduate with my class and was reverted to a junior company. And in the typical military fashion, they made me guard an area that was "off-limits" to visitors; but, where all the luggage for the graduates would be picked up after the ceremony. That way I had to watch all of my friends pick up their luggage and go. Quite the sucky day; but, I laugh about it now--all part of the growing up experience.
