  1. was he carrying a strange looking fish?
  2. Propaganda that has no basis in current reality, imho. for a country of people trying their best to "live within our means" there sure is a lot of credit card debt.
  3. I feel for you Michael. i just can't use that blasted machine. probably not the wisest decision; but, i gave up on it. without it, atleast i sleep.
  4. yes deals will come along. i've been on both ends of them too. years ago, i got a 1976 Fender Telecaster semi-hollow body thinline for $50. ended up letting it go for $300 a several years ago. just be diligent--there is something out there.
  5. Scrabble is a great game--one of my favorites and can rival RISK (world dominantion is still fun). I play an online version of Scrabble that I bought.
  6. he is truly a nice person he even invited me over too and he is within driving distance, maybe one day I should You should take him up on that someday Jay. Now that i'm living on my own (wife dumped me after 26 years), i'm hoping to eventually meet some forum members live and in-person. Sadly, Klipsch isn't located in God's Country (Southern California), so I can't get in on some of the get togethers that i read about. Probably go to the Pilgrimage next year and i look forward to that.
  7. i'll bet his wife hid the rolling rock and he's been too busy searching for it. glad to hear that he's okay.
  8. I, too, hope our friend is okay. I've posted directly to OB on this forum many times, and he's even invited me to his house--when we've never even met. quite a guy i can tell. he has mentioned some health issues, so let's hope that he's just on vacation--or out searching for some rolling rock! Hurry Back OB
  9. Roger--you're right. Shall I consider this a formal reprimand?
  10. do people really let heritage speakers go for those low prices? if so, i'll take five klipsch belles to go please. and while you're at it, i'll also pay $500 for a corvette in excellent condition ($250 if it has more than 1000 miles).
  11. since you kept referring to the ifi, i thought you were looking for something on the smaller side, that's why i mentioned the bookshelf selection. but, grooms is absolutely correct about the cornwalls. they will blow away the ifi easily. cornwall is a very good speaker and if you can find a deal, go for it--even if you don't need them. i've got 10 speakers in the living room of my one-bedroom apartment, and am still looking for deals.
  12. have you looked at the bookshelf speakers available on this website--much to choose from.
  13. We serve a good and great God David--this is certainly a very good report. i'm very happy for you all.
  14. David--May God continually provide you with exceeding grace as you live with this health issue of your daughter. You & I (and hopefully many others here) know that she is in God's hands and there is no better place to be. If she has half the character and wisdom that you displayed in your post--she will undoubtedly be a blessing to many lives and a great ambassador of God's Kingdom. I pray for a successful surgery with results that simply amaze everyone. Please provide updates. God Bless You my friend, Steve
  15. Welcome to the club sir--a heartfelt congratulations to you. steve
  16. Spent six-weeks in Milwaukee back in 1979--the ship I was on was in the shipyards there. I liked Milwaukee. Regarding Irish music--I really love the sound of the pennywhistle.
  17. best regards fini for successful resolution of both matters. i can only imagine the stress that you are under having two loved ones facing surgery. i have four children (all grown now; but, i still worry about them). i hope you have some local friends/family to be with you during this. maybe someday, i can. i've made it through the first round of cuts for a new job in your area--on yerba buena island, right in the middle of the bay between oakland and san francisco. so, a move just may be in my near future. steve
  18. Hi Michael, I have sleep apnea too. I wake up at least a dozen times each night; but, i don't feel tired in the morning or through the day. During my sleep study, the doctor said that i'm a very restless sleeper and didn't remain in one position longer than 30 minutes. I stop breathing if i fall asleep on my back or even sitting in a chair (so much for sleeping on long car or plane trips). with the cpap machine at the sleep lab, they said i only got 45 minutes of "quality" sleep that entire night WITH the machine. since i'm a mouth breather, they told me that i had to get the mask that covers the nose and mouth. i used the machine only once. i woke up the following morning with my asthma in high gear (which lasted several days). my asthma is so horrible that i decided that i wasn't going to use the machine again. in hindsight, i think i may have had the humidifer dial set too high (I only had it on 2 of 5), i think maybe it was too much moisture and my lungs got mad at me. i definately see the benefits of the machine if you can tolerate it. i should have went to my doctor and discussed this; but, haven't. sadly, dropping 25 pounds (i'm down to 209) helped with my blood pressure; but, didn't resolve the apnea. my doctor also told me that instead of the machine there is a mouthpiece that works; however, it is about $2000 and not covered by my insurance. i wish you well my friend. Steve
  19. i had a farrah fawcett t-shirt---i admit it.
  20. i'd rather see the Guess Who again (have seen them three times already). But, nods go to the acoustic version of Pinball Wizard.
  21. was that before he started chasing farrah fawcett? I mean both farrah and sasquach have t-shirts.
  22. i'd rather go to alaska--my apologies to my klipsch brethen in arkansas.
  23. Sadly, it was ABBA that knocked Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody out the number one slot years ago. That was the day that I lost faith in mankind.
  24. Last week I saw Steely Dan--underwhelming. Didn't play Reelin in the years, Do it Again, Rikki Don't Lose that Number, Black Cow But; at least now I can say that I've seen Steely Dan. (that was my only show this year...last summer was Roger Waters--which was incredible!)
