  1. since they'd have to purchase the sub-12 separately, should they just jump into the RF-10 system that Klipsch lists for $1349? It does have a sub-10; but I would imagine the RF-10 is a better system???
  2. A co-worker is considering this purchase. Their listening area is about 12'X15' with hardwood floors and the wall behind the listening area is a floor to ceiling brick fireplace. They have a Harmon Kardon amp; but I don't know which model. Will the Quintet SL system adequately cover this area? Any pros/cons that they should consider? Thanks for your help--I've already saved them BOSE, now want to make sure they are happy with Klipsch. If this system is inadequate any reasonable recommendations? Thanks for the assist. 3. MOVED POST.
  4. thanks, i've just been putting in new fuses--never thought i could be putting other parts at risk.
  5. Hello, and Happy Memorial Day--My KSW-12 keeps blowing the fuse. Any idea as to what could be this now "common" problem? I will admit that I'm not a real technical guy--I don't even know what the settings on the back should be set at. Any suggestions?
  6. Me too! I have Asthma and hot & humid is a horrible combination for me--I just have a very difficult time breathing in a climate like that. It is actually harder on me than the smog of Los Angeles. I'm very selective about what time of year I travel to certain areas. For instance, I just got back from Hawaii and wanted to make sure I went before summer. Next year, I hope to take another cruise from Ft. Lauderdale through the Panama Canal and ending in Los Angeles--i'm making that trip in february. i'll put up with other inconveniences to avoid hot & humid.
  7. I just returned home from a 16-day roundtrip cruise from Los Angeles to Hawaii. It was an incredible trip! I'm sitting here looking at my suitcases and feeling some serious depression. It actually started yesterday, when I realized that this great trip was nearly over. Two weeks isn't a long time; however, onboard the ship, it was enough time in a restricted location to start forming some bonds with new friends--including some of the crew. My wife and I hung out nearly every evening in this piano bar on the ship, as did a few other "regulars." The servers recognized us and knew what we drank, we exchanged stories about where we were from etc...(most of the crew are from foriegn countries). It was really hard to say goodbye to them, probably because I know that I most likely will never see any of them again (no plans on going to the Ukraine, India, or the Philipines). Maybe i'm going through a mid-life crisis or something. I'm fortunate to have a family and a home---but, I didn't want to come home. That's my sob story.
  8. hey buddy, my name's Stew not Rockerfeller or Colter (with the net worth of his collection). But, a good idea anyway.
  9. Interesting. I'll actually be in Oahu next week; although I'm taking a boat ride there from Los Angeles and I think the LaScalas' would be slightly over my luggage weight allowance. I like Dtels idea of creating some new standards. The first anniversary should be KHorns--so I'm way overdue. Actually, this cruise is costing us over $7K--but, the new argument would be "we can't afford the cruise AND new speakers." The only Heritage that I have is a pair of mint Herseys that I got in 1984. She just doesn't understand that they're lonely and want some company. They don't get along too well with the Synergy F3 system in the living room, so I keep them separated. When my garage is finished, things will be much easier. She mainly isn't too keen on the size of the speakers--we're space-challenged presently. Thanks for the kind words--often I wondered if I'd make it this long.
  10. Last night was my 25th wedding anniversary. We're eating dinner at a nice place on the ocean. During the meal, I'm trying to convince my wife that it isn't our Silver Anniversary that the 25th is the LaScala Anniversary. She isn't buying it. Eventually, I'll succeed.
  11. Cal--Great idea, but bad timing (for me)--I'll be about in the middle of the pacific ocean on the 15th. Taking my wife for a cruise to Hawaii to celebrate our 25th anniversary. It sure would have been nice to meet some of you folks face-to-face; but, hopefully this won't be the last opportunity. You must be fully recovered--AND I'M GLAD TO HEAR THAT. Enjoy the party--I'll definately meet you at the next one. Steve
  12. Good morning all, as a long-time pink floyd fan, i've purchased tickets to see roger waters at the hollywood bowl. i actually saw his show last year and found it be incredible. does anyone know if he has the same band as he had in his 2006 tour? (i'm at work and have to be very careful what websites i visit, so i avoid ones that i haven't been on before--sometimes a website name isn't an accurate reflection of what you're going to see). just curious, if anyone has read about his 2007 tour and has some info to share. i was fortunate last year, as nick mason joined roger for the second set--they did the entire dark side of the moon album.
  13. Picky--that's my problem too! But then again, I've never been accused of being normal. I unfortunately raised my kids in a high-cost area (The Beach) and now that they're adults they don't want to move away and my wife says that she doesn't want to be far from the grandchildren. If we ever want to retire, we'll have to move. There is absolutely no way I can make my house payment on a retired income. I've lived in your general area of the country before--I lived five years in Michigan (four in Grand Haven, one in Cheboygan) while I was in the Coast Guard. Grand Haven will always hold a special place in my heart and is a tempting place to consider returning to (even more so since I've joined this forum--I love good music, good food, good friends, and even good hot sauce). We're remodeling, maybe when my place moves from the embarrassing condition to respectable--I'll test the waters to see what kind of Klipsch gathering can be held out here. Best wishes and I hope you and your guests have a great time.
  14. glenn--would you consider moving to southern california? you always seem to be having what sounds like a very enjoyable get-together. please consider either moving out west or taking your show on the road. i've actually never met another forum member...for all i know i'm corresponding with some computer. so, you're saying that klipsch forum members are real people? hope you guys have a great weekend.
  15. happy birthday mike, where are you anyway? did that robot you created go mad? did you put on your shiney silver suit and travel into the future to see what you'll be doing this time next year? Whatever you do, hope it is a rewarding day for you. enjoy these times, like a few others, i'm twice your age. still feel 23 in my mind; however, when i was sodding my front yard recently, i sure couldn't keep up with my daughter's boyfriend (also 23).
  16. Ohio State over UCLA (the locals will hate me). This time of year does bring some madness. Like the time I was at a nice restraunt celebrating my wedding anniversary which happened to fall on the same day as the finals. I asked the waiter to go check the score for me. strangely, i'm still married. Actually, my wife expects as much from me. I once asked a flight attendant if she would ask the pilot to radio the air traffic controller and get the score of a playoff game--he did and announced the score to the entire plane.
  17. good luck to you man. here's a little advice, it's never to early to start preparing for the next phase of your life. there is peace in preparation. i retired from the coast guard a few years ago. they told us to start preparing two years before our retirement date. if you don't have your college degree, start working on it now. i didn't and it's quite humbling having to start from the bottom all over again in a new organization. you can make. don't give up hope and take advantage of the time and opportunities that you still have available to you. if you get to stay in the air force, that's great; if not, you'll be better prepared to start anew. best wishes to you.
  18. Here I thought you were a lost sole, Hawaii, Seattle,.............hell man, your not lost at all.............and a Grand Father too..........Offer is a standing one, I offer for people to come here, but no one does...................I do take showers.................... maybe it's because you're on the computer at such odd hours. It's 12:15 here on the west coast and i'm wondering what i'm doing still up. this will be our second grandchild--the first grandchild and her parents live with us. got to admit, it sure is nice seeing a smiling face of a beautiful one-year old when i walk in the door after work. when the parents decide to move out, i think i'll have them leave the kid behind.
  19. i have a couple of bottles of dave's insanity sauce--now, i love hot stuff; but that junk is just way too hot. they have a warning that says to keep it away from pregnant women and children--after tasting it i believe the warning is serious.
  20. i've raised four kids. the "terrible twos" aren't that terrible. I was scared to death when they became teens and I had to hope that they had truly embraced everything that i had taught them. when they're little, you can always put the poison on the top shelf; but, it's a scary thing when they venture out into the world. I still worry about them and they're all grown up now.
  21. it's a shame that some people have to wreck a good thing. i've received an email that was titled from an ebay member--i didn't even open it. generally, i'm too paranoid to open stuff from an unknown sender. it sucks having to be so careful all the time.
  22. thanks for the offer, i'll keep you in mind. God willing, I'll live long enough to go to all the places on my list. After we return from hawaii, we hit seattle, as our oldest is having a baby--that will kill my vacation days for this year.
