  1. My pool chlorine generator went out on me. After seeing a new board would cost over $400 I did some investigating. It seems the Inrush Current Limiters are prone to failure. When I pulled the board sure enough this is what I found. The piece on the table used to be inside of the capacitor looking thing.
  2. Yes toe in. With my La Scalas it was very minimal though. From the back wall about a two inch difference between outside and inside corners.
  3. Chicken, sausage and andoullie gumbo. Listening to Ozzy's Boneyard.
  4. I've had better success using a primer.
  5. I would imagine that you should have enough bass in that room to make you uncomfortable.
  6. Primer and black satin latex looks great on them. +1 on this. Fill all cracks and low spots with wood putty then sand smooth. Makes for a seemless finish.
  7. I ran 80' of 14 gauge for some outdoor speakers with no issues.
  8. yep. i had it in stereo mode. and not sure about the high pass question. here's a screenshot of that menu ... My bad. I thought that amp had physical switches on the back.
  9. I know it's too late now but are you sure you didn't have the rear switch in high pass? Also the stereo, mono, bridge switch was in stereo, right? I've over looked things like this before.
  10. My sub is DIY Dayton 15" Titanic. 7ft3 box with single 6" port tuned at around 22hz. It has impressed everyone who has heard it and kept up with Lascalas at full volume. It digs way below what I can hear and the pressure in my ears could become uncomfortable in a 24x22 room. Just food for thought. I have not heard the 18" Dayton's so I can't compare.
  11. I'm very eager to hear your thoughts on this. My HK3490 used to run La Scalas and did a very impressive job. Imaging and soundstage were phenomenal. It is now in the garage running some JBL control monitors. Yeah it rocks the hell out of my garage.
  12. I am a huge fan of Onkyo, I own the TX-NR717, but the Onk's have had HUGE and well-known problems with the HDMI boards. Before you buy an Onk I strongly suggest you Goggle the 828 and see if it has the HDMI problem (aka network problems, the network is affected by the HDMI daughterboard) I would tell you if I knew the answer, but I am not as familiar with that model as the older 717 and 818, which DO have that problem. I'll let others who own the C2's recommend specific brand AVR's which are known to work good with them. Glad I decided to go with the denon instead then ... Thanks for the input I have the Onkyo 717 and it did have the hdmi board issue. After the free repair it is a very solid AVR. It really shines at networking and multi zone.
  13. Thanks for the support guys. I'm not feeling safe at the moment. I have projects coming but still a month or two away. I do however have a couple of things to fall back on unlike a lot of people.
  14. Got a call from my new boss saying two guys that work for me are laid off. Since he had never met them I offered to inform them of the decision. Truly one of the hardest things that I have ever done. I understand why some people don't care for oilfield workers very much but please understand that these folks are hard working Americans. It is not in our best interest to let OPEC have so much control over oil prices. There have been thousands of lay offs in the oil industry and no one but oil workers seem to care.
  15. I used to run my sub at aroung 60hz. For my set up it was seemless to my ears. I think it will depend on the room and the subwoofer. For me it was easy to adjust. I tried everything from 40 to 120hz.
  16. Very nice job! There is nothing like the feeling when you do this sort of thing then get to sit down and enjoy your efforts.
  17. I don't know if it's a great photo but I like it.
  18. I didn't notice a house or neighborhood in the drone footage. The place actually looked well taken care of and the PETA footage showed what appeared to be clean well kept pigs.
  19. I just checked again and I don't think it's at the very bottom. I guess the page was still loading. It's in there somewhere though.
  20. You deserve the kudos Dave. For anyone interested check the very bottom of Dave's substantial blog for Claire de lune.
  21. A couple of years ago I downloaded a piano recording from Dave. It was by far the best recording I had and really made me love my LaScals's with a sub-woofer. I still have the recording but the LaScala's are gone unfortunately. Dave is a master in my opinion. I could close my eyes and imagine the placement of the piano. Dave confirmed what I was hearing and I then knew my system was right.
