  1. 3 The lower "hook" is stationary to the base The Upper "L Guide" is attached to the arm and moves with the arm.
  2. The anti skate was missing. Here's some pics and maybe someone can make sense of the routing of the weight.
  3. Thank you Marty. The anti-skating wire and counter weight are on the platter side of the tone arm. It's weird and unless I'm missing a part on my anti-skate it makes no sense at all. The pic is small btw.
  4. http://audiokarma.org/forums/showthread.php?t=181180 There's some pics on vinyl asylum I can't load. I belong to the site but haven't been able to log on in over a year. I've sent requests for help but they've fallen on deaf ears. What I need is a clear shot of the anti-skate system on the KLH 60x table. Anyone care to help out with the needed pics? Thank you, Harry
  5. Tonights "Special" is going to be a blend of Chicken Creole with a few personal throw ins making it a "Hobo" spicey casserole I like from time to time. It's a P.I.A. to make up and I usually make one hellova mess in the kitchen that takes longer to clean up than it does to scarf it down. I'll have to cleanse my taste buds out with a couple of iced down 'neckers and settle in with a few laid back tunes for the evening. This place is worse than going to the store on an empty stomach.
  6. I'll have to go with Canyonman at this point. The AT440 is a great cart for the $. http://www.lpgear.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=LG&Product_Code=ATC05&Category_Code=A3 I've had mine a couple of years now and I love it. Right out of the box it was a performer and took little break in time. The initial set up on it wasn't critical like a lot of carts I've used. It's very forgiving on "average" vinyl and it has a great sound stage to it. I just picked up the Denon 160 about a month ago and it's not broken in yet. I think it's going to be a great cartridge when it loosens up a bit more. The initial "hollow' sound disipated quick on it and it's getting better the more I use it. I'm running a Thorens TD 125 early Swiss table with SME 3009 II unmodded with Grace Ruby as my #1 system and comparing other carts to it is tough. I'm running this through a PS Audio PS III rebuilt and upgraded by PS Audio through a custom built McAlister PL series preamp. IF there's an issue this system shows it immediately. Inexpensive carts I've liked are the Grado Black standard at $55 but I can't recommend them on the Technics tables. There's a hum factor talked about a lot on forums with this combo and I ran into it on a 1200mkII recently for the first time. It's the only time I've had the hum issue on my favorite "cheapie" cartridge but I guess the talk is for real on it in certain circumstances. Now for the Shure M97. It does work well on the Technics tables. I've got one on an old Sl-1400 and sounds very good on it. Good cart for the money imho. I bought the Shure to use on a beautiful AR XA as system #2 but it wasn't a good match and after a couple of stints in different tables it made it to the SL-1400 and that's where it's going to stay as it does match well WITHOUT an external phono preamp. Just my impressions.
  7. I had the opportunity to hear some of Emo's newer amps and Preamps. All I can say is WoW! Excellent drive, clarity, and POWER!
  8. Chris, So sorry to hear it. I'll include your dad and your family in my prayers. You've got the # IF you want to chat. Harry

Ex-President Bush, decides to leave the Ranch and go out to sit in a local bar. A guy walks in and asks the barman, 'Isn't that Bush sitting at the end of the bar?' The bartender says, 'Yep, that's him.' So the guy walks over and says, 'Wow, this is a real honor! What are you doing in here?' Bush says, ' I'm planning WW III.' The guy says, 'Really? What's going to happen?' Bush says, 'Well, I'm going to kill 140 million Muslims and one blonde with big Boobs. The guy exclaimed, 'A blonde with big boobs? Why kill a blonde with big boobs?' Bush turns to the bartender and says, 'See, I told you, no one gives a darn about the 140 million Muslims!'
  10. The old Heathkit AR1500a is about as close to a tube sound as I've ever heard. Mid drive is unreal and it's a very warm old powerhouse. Range is excellent, controls are very wide ranging with defeat also. Best musical solid state piece of gear I've ever heard. Heavy, solid, superior sounding.
  11. Thanks Josh, that was my impression too, and that's why I took it out of my system. While it seemed to image better and tame the bass of the RF-7's, I didn't like the overall tone of the midrange or highs. I didn't think the ground loop problem was a big contibutor, however I thought I would ask around here before I put the amp up for sale. -PB I too have owned the HCA 1500 and didn't like it on horns at all. On less sensitive speakers it sounded very good. I had some early model B&W 602s it matched well with and a couple of other "darker" speakers like Polk monitors.
  12. Email sent to you. Tons of pics Harry
  13. You guys might be the ones I need to talk to. I have 4 of the RF-7 Premier drivers. Two of them are domed dust caps and the other two are the "white ring" with the flat cone. All very nice and working super. I also have a bunch of Klipsch Cerametallic 10" RSW drivers and passives. I also have two perfect working amps for the klipsch subs. No preamps but nice working amps. RSW 10s I believe but don't remember the exact model for sure I was going to list them later on today on the Garage Sale. Harry

Baby's First Doctor Visit ... A woman and a baby were in the doctor's examining room, waiting for the doctor to come in for the baby's first exam. The doctor arrived, and examined the baby, checked his weight, and being a little concerned, asked if the baby was breast-fed or bottle-fed. 'Breast-fed,' she replied.. 'Well, strip down to your waist,' the doctor ordered. She did. He pinched her nipples, pressed, kneaded, and rubbed both breasts for a while in a very professional and detailed examination. Motioning to her to get dressed, the doctor said, 'No wonder this baby is underweight. You don't have any milk.' I know,' she said, 'I'm his Grandma, But I'm glad I came
  15. Mark Deneen did a nice upgrade mod on the 60 IIRC. It might have been the 75 but not 100% sure my memory is intact. Check some posts here about it. It sounded interesting.
  16. That looks and sounds like the guy that tried to sell me some $3K speakers at the Swifty Mart when I filled the tank on my truck the other day
  17. The "hissing" i'll venture a guess on is a tube. Tranny hum? I think it might be over stated and maybe some people just settle for the noise instead of taking the time and steps required to get their system quiet. Other hum could be cables. Not to start crapola but I've used monoprice cables before. You get what you pay for.. Other lighting or ac draw in the room can cause hum also. Isolate your wiring and cables away from each other. You can get the Dynas quiet and don't have to put up with the hum. Mine have always been "dead quiet" with absolutely NO hum. I have clean power and I can't think of any amp I have with any noise at all.
  18. Describe the "Noisy" you speak of. IS it hissing, hum, or what? Does it sound like a cat screaming??? EX WIFE bichin? BOSS Naggin? Nice amps. Noise could be from tubes, cables, ground him, yadda, yadda, yadda. Mucho possible causes for noise. We'll need a description of the noise you speak of sir!
  19. Check your local music stores. Most will carry a variety of racks preassembled, rack bars to make your own racks, and different components to custom make your rack. The Crown DC-300 won't get warm by itself unless you really load it up. IF/When you enclose all the gear together I think you'll start accumulating some heat. You might want to leave room for a fan just in case. I ran the 300's and "ICEY" 150 (where ya at Duke?) for years. Virtually indestructible.
  20. I always hated the whine and 3 hour delay waiting on the Powerglide to shift into high gear. LOL! You're not old. I still have some of my original Led Zepplin, The Who, Stones, Grand Funk etc on 8 track. I had a nice 8 track player behind the tach on my '65 GTO console. My first car amp was a Spark-0-Matic 20 watt static monster but it sure kicked the original speakers
  21. HIII by all means. BTW, with the right amplification you can do without a sub on the HIIIs. Very nice speakers and a size bargain.
