  1. Also when you plug your ipod in there is an option on the sumary tab in itunes that says manaullay manage music and videos and make sure it is checked.
  2. I don't know what apple does when they put songs onto the ipod but they end up in about a thousand different folders and they rename everything so you can't delete it like your first method. To remove songs you need to use itunes or winamp and I think windows media player because they will find all the songs and make a list for you. If the songs are grey I think it means that the songs are still being transfered.
  3. Why don't you just rip your CDs with Itunes in the apple lossless format? You will get the same high quality sound while using less disc space. With itunes it can find most if not all the covers and fill in all the info as you rip songs. The only downside to using apple lossless is that it only works with apple stuff. I have been using apple lossless since the day I got my ipod about a year ago, and now I can't stand using anything but lossless audio formats.
  4. What brand is your receiver? Most companies make their own docks that you can control with the same remote as the receiver. I have a Denon dock for my Denon receiver and it works well, I think it cost me $130- $150. Sounds a lot better than with the little headphone cable. The only downside to mine is that I prefer to scroll through songs with the wheel than with the remote because the remote scrolls super slow.
  5. I still have hope that my oiler's can make the play-offs this year, maybe even win it. As long as calgary loses I am happy.
  6. With my RF-82s and my Denon 2807 I got to -17 before it was too loud for me. The SPL meter was at about 110 dB but my room is tiny. The only distortion I could notice was from my POS sub so I turned it down and it was nice and clear.
  7. So is she trying to get the royalties from the companies that make the blue lasers? If so how much is she trying to get?
  8. If I am not mistaken, the only the 3808 and up has the GUI menu. Whether or not that is a plus I still am not sure; I found the menu more confusing on my 3808 than my 2807. The extra HDMI imputs are a definate plus. As for any other receivers in that price range, Onkyo comes to mind. I have owned an Onkyo and I didn't like it at all. It was an older model(574 from 2006 I think) so it didn't have HDMI and that was a big bummer.
  9. Well I dont have kids, and you would be crazy to have a kid at my age(19). So seeing as how I am a kid I will list my stereo. I have had a job since I was like 12 so my parents never paid for my stereo's. Right now I have a pair of RF-82s, a Denon AVR-2807, a Toshiba HD-A3 HD-DVD player, Technics 60 disc CD changer, Samsung LN-T3253H 32" LCD TV. All this is crammed in my 9' by 9' room, and it was all bought last year. My parents keep telling me I should be spending this money on getting a car, but I'm 19 and I know it all . I just started my machinist apprenticeship so I think I can fit a car into this year's "budget", when I finish buying the rest of my speakers(waiting for Epik Castle to be available and the rest of the RF-82 package).
  10. Im my city we have some of the world's largest metal lathes for making all kinds of stuff for the oil patches. They could fit your house on the chuck, these are ridiculous. Now my little lathe at work has only a 20" inch chuck, microscopic compared to the 20' chucks I've seen.
  11. So how come I can't see any prices there? I tried Internet Explorer and Firefox but I have never seen any prices.
  12. I just came across these today.... Holy cow 14k for preamp and amp combo! I think I need a new job now. http://www.usa.denon.com/ProductDetails/3922.asp http://www.usa.denon.com/ProductDetails/3921.asp
  13. I vote for the Onkyo because it has more features, specifically the HDMI upconversion that the Denon doesn't have. I have an Onkyo 574 in my living room and it sounds decent, but on the other hand my more expensive Denon 2807 sounds much better. At that price point I am guessing they would sound very similar.
  14. Bi-wiring is running two sets of wires from the same amp. It is supposed to have the same effect of using a heavier guage of wire. There is no real benefit to it.
  15. Denon also makes this DVD player. Has all you ask for except the communist part. I use a Denon receiver and it sounds great and is great quality. Plus I also think the Denon looks better than the Marantz.
  16. BestBuy has the Klipsch synergy line and those are great speakers for your price range, they would match the quintet III's nicely I would think.
  17. You would either need an Ipod dock for your receiver or a special cable to plug into the headphone jack on the ipod with RCA ends on the other end. The first method is preferred. Some docks will let you control the ipod with your receiver remote too.
  18. LOL, and at $50, 000 I can't believe it hasn't sold yet.
  19. Check out these guys. They make speaker kits that come with an amp and driver and all you need is to build a box for them. On their site they even have drawings for cabinets that have been tested and work.
  20. I have been REALLY bored the last couple days so I put this together. I am also looking for a new sub, probably an Epik if I can figure out how to get one in Canada.
  21. I have a Denon 2807 and I love it. Sounds awesome with movies and music, full of features, can't go wrong with Denon.
  22. I also like DVD Region Free which hides the copyprotection and use nero to burn it or rip it.
