Matsushita introduces 150-inch TV

I wonder what the weight would be on that big guy? -
I think I finally have the cash to pull the plug on a new subwoofer. What I have now is a cheap-o JBL 8" that is pretty gutless to go with my RF-82s. I was thinking of getting the RSW-10D but at $1600 CAD, that's pretty pricey, maybe I can get it for $1200 ish. I was looking around on the AVS Forum and read a bit about this subwoofer kit that is made by Rythmik Audio. I was thinking of getting their DS12 and build this box that they desgined. My room is really tiny and I dont have room for a really big sub and my listening habits are about 70% music and 30% movie. Any comments to help point me in the right direction?

I am having trouble trying to get just the audio off a concert dvd and put it on a CD. I did it once before and it was complicated and I can't remember how to do it. I think I used 4 programs and it took 2 days.... There must be an easier way. Can anyone help me out?

Looks nice! I like the idea of using a CRT TV mount for the centre channel.

At a car stereo place in my city they had built a 35" subwoofer! It was NUTS! It literally shook the whole block it was like an earthquake, until they blew it up with a cheap amp.... -
By hack do you mean unlock? Unlocking an iPhone lets you use it with other cell phone providers which is good for canadians because we don't have AT&T here. There was a store somewhere in Edmonton that had one that was unlocked and they sold it for like 2 grand lol.

Need some help setting up PS3 with HK AVR 235
Canadian_Dude replied to Akiramats1's topic in Home Theater
I fairly recently bought a couple of cheap optical cables from the dollar store and they lasted about a month before the ends on both cables broke. You had to wiggle the ends to get a signal to go through. So my advice would be to not buy super cheap ones but get mid priced ones with ends that look sturdy. I have a PS3 in my living room set up just like yours. My reciever doesn't have HDMI so I ran the cheapest monster cable HDMI cable right to the TV. For audio I run the cheapest monster cable optical cable to the receiver. I also use my PS3 as a regular DVD player as well and the picture quality looks great. With the new update for it, it has upscaling for regular DVDs that works pretty good. -
HD DVD vs Blue Ray battle is getting more interesting
Canadian_Dude replied to J.4knee's topic in Home Theater
I have only seen a few latptops with HD-DVD drives and none of them can burn a HD-DVD, they are only HD-DVD ROM drives. I have also never seen a Blu-Ray drive in a laptop yet so I don't think laptops are really gonna shift this battle. Also, what makes HD-DVD drives more compatible than a Blue-Ray drive? Most if not all Blu-Ray drives do regular dvds as well. -
where can high quality music downloads be found ?
Canadian_Dude replied to wpines's topic in Technical/Restorations
I believe they lowerd the price to 99 cents recently. But if you bought songs at the regular bitrate with drm it will cost 30 cents each to upgrade. -
I Don't think that is a Pioneer Elite receiver. It looks like the VSX-1019TX I think is the name. My first receiver was a Pioneer, it was decent for the JBL cube system I had with it but it got outdated pretty quick.

iDock vs RCA stereo frm headphone and Laptop DVD player
Canadian_Dude replied to HcspilK's topic in Home Theater
I bought an iDock for my Denon receiver and found that it's no better than using RCA cables. I find that the audio from an ipod is not as good as a CD unless you rip to a lossless codec like flac or apple lossless codec. With good speakers and a good amp the flaws from low bitrate songs(like 128kbps) stand out a lot. With video, the iDock I have is better because it uses s-video and looks slightly better than the RCA cable. Also with my iDock when you scroll through artists to find a song it scrolls really really slow and that iritates me a lot. As for DVD Player vs Laptop, I like using a dvd player more becuase it's quieter, it has optical audio, and mine can upscale so the picture quality is as good and better. -
When can we search for headphones in the dealer locator page?
-
I think it is because his projector has a native resolution of 1280x720 I believe it was, and projectors and such look their best at their native resolutions. So 720 would look as good or better than 1080 on it.

$98.87 Toshiba HD-DVD players starting this Friday
Canadian_Dude replied to el jopez's topic in Home Theater
Most places seem to have the HD-A2/HD-A20/HD-XA2 on sale/clearance because they are being discontinued I believe(that's what I was told at Futureshop). Toshiba has new models out now. The HD-A3, HD-A30, and HD-XA3. I picked up the HD-A3 yesterday and I'm liking it. It's only a few days old and there was an update for it already. -
Any idea on where or when we can get these in Canada?
