  1. "Imaging, soundstaging, flat frequency response, smooth hi end, Yada, yada, yada, while still retaining the high effeciency of Klipsch", damn, sounds like some pretty good virtues to have... GO FOR IT Voodoo Chile.......
  2. Miron....Yes, you could use speakers that are only rated on 100 watts continuous. Really the last thing you need to worry about is the watts. You have to remember 99% of the time you'll be running under ten watts especially if you go with the Klipsch. Secondly, Denon is highly regarded on this site. Others will be able to give you some great info on their receivers. Third, Yes Paradigm makes good speakers and you'll just have to listen to both brands to make a decision. I think if you look around you should have no problem finding RF-3's or the new II's in the price range of the Paradigms. I don't own RF-3's but I have heard them and for the money there a steal. Good Luck.. This message has been edited by rowooo on 02-26-2002 at 10:41 AM
  3. I have to agree with HornEd here....Decent quality speaker wire should do you good. If your going to spend some bucks spend it on interconnects, they can really work wonders. I have Epic CF-2's and I replaced some early nineties Esoteric audio cables with some new Transparent Audio interconnects and it was just jaw dropping. I couldn't believe how much difference a couple pair of interconnects could make. I also was loaned a pair of 800.00 speaker cable from Transparent and to tell you the truth I really wasn't able to tell much difference besides the Transparents did lower noise a tad, but you could only tell on certain discs. The cable they were being compared to our Esoteric Audios, probably around 80.00 for the pair, can't remember exactely...good luck
  4. jjhaz....I've tried both methods and on my system I think it sounds better with the preamp. Don't know why and just does. Plus my C.D. player with volume control just didn't have enough gain. I bypass everything on my Preamp too. Explanations please!!!
  5. Chris....simple nickname from way back. My last name is Rowell, pronounced like Colin "Powell" but it just seemes like everyone mispronounces it and wants to get those ll's going and going. So it just stuck over the years and now I'm boring you all with this story. Great speakers though...
  6. Beautiful....looks like you did a great job Chris. What color exactely are those grills? They look a little darker than the Klipsch brown.
  7. Waddy Wachtel rocked with Stevie Nicks quite a bit also, which brings me to Lindsey Buckingham. How about Kirk Hammett for all you metal fans....
  8. I'd appreciate any information I can get on the following....Magnavox console unit with am/fm--record player. The unit has woven cane sides and fronts with sliding wood panels on top. The model no. is IP3671 and the serial no. is 4886828. I would like to know what year this was made and any other details on it. One of my buddies received this from his Grandmother and it's in excellent shape and sounds pretty good. I opened the back and it revealed two front firing horns and two side firing woofers, maybe 8's or possibly 10 inch. The crossovers were mounted on the bottom of the cabinet. I would guess it was made in the late sixties. Any info would be appreciated...Thanks...
  9. I agree with the Carole King, great music, terrible recording. Seals-Crofts greatest hits is the same way, terrible back ground noise. Led Zeppelin and Van Halen also have some piss poor recording on some of there albums. I bought a Motels c.d. this past weekend and it's excellent. Very good dynamics, low noise, great imaging. Wish they were all like that. Please no comments about the Motels either, I loved the eighties.
  10. TBrennan....did you say Enron? I invoke my fifth amendment rights! This message has been edited by rowooo on 02-10-2002 at 10:54 AM
  11. "If your not in the Big Ten your not really Midwestern" What?
  12. They just need to move it to Omaha. Then no one can question the "Midwest" location. East of some real mountains, west of the Mississipi, centered in between the Canadien and Mexican border. Middle.....
  13. Just depends on what your beating them with!
  14. Bloomis...just call Klipsch and you have your new grill material in 1 to 2 weeks. I'm going to do a pair of CF-2's for around 20.00 bucks. With the width of your Chorus II's you might have to buy two rolls..later
  15. Keith...check out the MMF-5. You step up to a glass platter and a much better cartridge for just under 500.00 bucks. I looked at both these models a little over a year ago and decided for two-hundred more you get quite a bit more of a table. Easy to set up, comes with spare belt, a looks and sounds great...good luck..
  16. Adcom 5500! Check it out.....And no I didn't write that just to get Mobile fired up.
  17. Q-man....I have heard great things about there video cables and thats what there really known for. A store I used to frequent got the Tributary line in and didn't even carry the audio segment, but that's not saying there no good.....GOOD LUCK
  18. Thanks Kevin....thats it.....
  19. Your silly...I think it has a single guys name in it but I'm not sure.
  20. Guys...I ran across a site a few months ago the had a extensive overview of the entire Mcintosh line. I can't remember the name of the site, it had some pretty good tech information, details, and pictures. Does anyone have any insight on this sight. Thanks...
  21. Vahorns...sounds like a pretty good deal to me. By the way....Fortes can play extremely loud, get ready. Many think the original Forte was one of Klipschs best designed speakers ever. Good luck....
  22. tblasing....hey, I read that article last night...Sounds like the company is doing alright, no reason not to bring back some heritage.
  23. Guys, would appreciate anyone with some insight/information on either the C-15 or C712. I'm looking at selling my Adcom GTP 600 since I only run two-channel. I love the cosmetics of some of the older Macs like the 27,28, etc. but I just can't do without a remote. I'm looking for a basic two-channel preamp with remote and a good phono stage. Right now it looks like either the C15 or Adcom GFP-710. I ran across a site a few months back the had a very extensive overview of the entire Mac line up, pictures and tech info, does anyone know the link/name of that site. Thanks This message has been edited by rowooo on 01-14-2002 at 07:36 PM
