  1. Cornwalls located within five minutes of me, and yes I live in Nebraska. I can't believe it...CBR, 185024, I think that's the number. Can anyone give me the year on these? Any info would be appreciated...thanks.
  2. Johnny.....I haven't had the opportunity to hear Cornwall's so I can't give you a fair comparison or details on how the two match up. I do know that the Epic series, especially the 2,3,4's with the massive 2" horn and aluminum diaphragms are extremely musical and quick. From what I have read on this board the Cornwalls will probably sound quite a bit different than the Epic's, especially in the midrange. I'm sure others will can give you a much more detailed comparison. Both great speakers though....later
  3. Ray....No offense but it sounds to me that your so called expert is high as a kite. I would highly suggest you bypass your bass and treble controls on your Adcom or atleast leave them around the midway point. Your amp is not underpowered and you didn't blow the tweeter due to a so called "break in period".
  4. Manuel....Save your time and money and keep your Heresys.
  5. TFT...Without screwing with the crossover I really don't know what you could do in that case. More or less your looking to fill in the sound between the extremes. I have CF-2's which sport two 8's instead of 10's on the 3's and I'm really happy with the sound throughout the spectrum. I don't know if taming your horns a tad would do a sufficient enough job. What amp are you using? Other components? Keep us updated..Later
  6. Does anyone have any experience or knowledge of the Acurus RL-11 two channel preamp? Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks..........
  7. jjhaz...My 5500 powers a pair of Epic CF-2's, and Yes I realize muddy is NOT good.
  8. jjhaz....I have heard great things about the Musical concepts upgrades. Although sending five amps in would be quite costly. When your talking "Warm" sound are you referring to two-channel listening or all five channels playing. I own the 5500 and it by no means is muddy/warm, in my opinion.
  9. MBM135, How are you a hundred miles from nearest dealer? I would suggest keeping the KG4's and upgrading to a better receiver or integrated amp. I honestly don't think you'd be getting upgraded sound. Remember new, in most cases these days, does not mean better. What are your other components? Good luck....
  10. Shapeshifter....Great system. Are those Chorus or Forte's in the music room? Also, I would check the foundation around your house...Looks to me that you have a problem with large multi-color snakes, especially behind your component rack. Later
  11. Audio Flynn....Just bought a MMF-5 a couple months ago and I love it. Don't get to use it as much as I would like..{Kids} but when I do get a chance to sit and listen it's really enjoyable. Great table for the money...It comes with a decent cartridge from the factory so all you have to do is set everything up and go....Good luck
  12. Old???? Come on, they were last made in 96...What kind of equipment are you using? What about your speaker placement? There were three versions of the CF-2's. I know the third version had quite a shorter port than the previous editions, along with a couple other minor changes. What is it about the sound now that is lacking in your opinion? I've always enjoyed my pair and with some recent upgrading of cables and etc, they will never leave my house...Let me know....
  13. Wquay....No, I know Custom Electronics in Omaha deals with B@W, but you better walk in there with a suit and tie, if you know what I mean.
  14. Seb....I'm one of those people who think good "Realistic Sound" is "Impressive." I could spend a couple hundred bucks and knock pictures off the walls and make my nose hairs sway too, that's just not the way I see it. But that's me, and I know everyone has there own opinions, so let's all be happy...
  15. drewzter....Give Adcom a look. I've owned many of there components for years and never had a problem. Before going with Adcom I ran mostly older Carver equipment. Can't beat the dual meters on the front of there amps but the sound just doesn't touch my Adcom gear. Good Luck....
  16. Where did you hear those Aerial Acoustics at? Sound Environment? Take a listen to the Eggleston Works. Can't remember which model number but they carry them. Absolutely beautiful, although I was scared to ask a price. Good Luck
  17. Believe it or not...Nebraska Furniture Mart carries most of the Klipsch line. I know, it makes me sick too. But with there massive inventory and purchasing power you might want to check or give them a call and see if they have the legend series. Stereo West is totally home theater...They have absolutely no two-channel amps and seeing all those Klipsch speakers being powered by 3 to 5 hundered dollar, button heavy 18 channel receivers is about enough to make a guy sick. Plus there listening rooms are totally wacked if your into serious music listening. I know your kind of like me when it comes to buying used but you might want to check around locally and see what you can find. I know a guy who got some original Fortes-mint condition, from an older lady because she thought they just took up to much space in her patio room. Very cheap, I might add. Good luck...
  18. Sorry Tblasing....I've noticed my system sounding, shall we say cleaner at night and living in Nebraska there is never any human/mechanical activity outside. I'm kidding...well kind of..
  19. Please Help!!! A friend of mine is always on some Klipsch site. Anyway, he came over to listen to my set-up and I remember him saying that I could increase the bass response of my cubes if I use spikes. To make a long story short, I followed his advice and screwed four 1/4 inch screws into each corner of my cubes. Here's the problem....When I was drilling through the speaker the entire plasic enclosure shattered. Does anybody know of any glue that could possibly fix this/ It doesn't seem to affect the sound though...Thanks
  20. Yep...Sound Environment. I've spent a lot of money there. All my interconnects are Transparent and I just love them. When I made that first initial swap, switching from some older Esoteric audio cables to a pair of Transparents between my preamp and amp, I couldn't believe it. In no way did you have to strain to hear a difference, it was totally right there in front of you. Went back a month or so later and did the same for my C.D. player. I might have to try those Kimbers. I do like the looks of them and have heard they make a pretty neutral cable. I'll let ya know..
  21. Prana-Bindu.......The cables are an 8ft pair of Transparent Audio's. I have notice a slight decrease in noise, which gives more of a spacious presence and makes those silences in music really magical. I really like the cables but they are difficult to work with and I just can't justify the price. I have heard good things about Kimber and will be looking into them. How much did those 8tc run you? Were you able to listen to them first? I don't know of anyplace in Eastern Nebraska that carries them so I'll have to see if I can get some kind of keep them if I like them deal of the net. My epic's can't be bi-wired so that make purchasing cables a little easier and cheaper...later
  22. Guys....thanks for all the great suggestions. While I will pick up a vacuum cleaner eventually, and will be watching for a great deal on one, right now my budget is limited considering I just bought this new table. I would like to stay under fifty dollars for some adequate cleaning. It sounds like everyone kind of has there own way/method of doing this, so for know I going to have to experiment with some cheaper methods till I get the cash for a VPI-Nitty Gritty. I'm thinking maybe some Disc Doctor fluids and pads and a carbon brush. Thanks again for all your help.
  23. tenhet....I know people on this board have had good results with sand filled bases on other floor-standing models. If this base/stand your talking about is going to be attached to your Quartets and filled with sand you won't have any detrimental low frequency sound, and in all probability it will help, regardless of how high your woofer placement is. All that said it might be easier to just lower the placement of your center if at all possible. Good Luck....
