  1. Use the Dayton driver, the high roll rubber surround on the Stereo Integrity HT-15 is most assured to rub on the motorboard in a top mount application. Wont work any better either.
  2. I'm not the only one who noticed the port noise, here are a couple of others who commented on it too. Probably more if you google search but these are the ones i have read before on the subject. Audioholics Data-Bass
  3. What...the 1802 fits in my living room nicely...it is big and bad. Wish you were closer, i would love to compare a full size THT to the 1802. We could add up how many pissed off neighbors come over to complain about each cabinet and make a pie chart.
  4. My pair of RT-10d's sound fantastic with music and complement my Revel B15 and SVS SB-13 Plus with HT, but they would never alone have the impact for HT that I "need".Bill I had the same exact problem when I owned the RT-12d. now it was an amazing sub and I only had 1 but my space was smaller as it was before we had our custom home built. In the smaller space it definitely sounded great but what we have come to experience and expect from home theater bass just couldn’t be had with the RT12d and I don’t think even 2 of them would have brought that impact I had with the THX ultra-subs. Even the 4 of them had their drawbacks but they were the best subwoofers I have ever owned. I haven’t heard their KPT subs but I have no doubt they are great. Just not WAF by any means lol. I also had an RSW10d and I wish I never ever gave that to my father. I would love to have it in my 2 channel Lascala setup now. I wouldn’t be suprsied if Klipsch new line of speakers has a new 15” sub in the mix that is up to par with some of the other more notable subs in the $2,000 price point as the PB-ultra 13 is. Bill The drawback of the PB-13 Ultra is once you start plugging the ports to tune the subwoofer to your liking you get unwanted port noise added to your sound, not bad at low levels but once you start throwing down some power it becomes very noticeable. My mistake, i see you were referring to the SB-13 and not the PB-13. not gonna lie owned a pair of ultras for a year and listened at ungodly levels and never heard port noise at the 15 hz tune. You probably got used to hearing it and no longer noticed the noise, its a common problem due to the design.
  5. Don't be surprised if you suddenly see an increase in spam mail rolling in.
  6. I don't get it either, all those nice horns and a distortion spewing woofer to fill in the lows. Something that size could have much more potential.
  7. The Reference RBII series are ok, the 61 and 81 would be a good pick for a small to mmedium room.
  8. Somebody did build one I believe. I thing they hung it in a corner, with the mouth facing the floor. Does anybody remember seeing that? Yes it was drywalled over to hide. I have one built myself but don't want to put any finish on it until it sells.
  9. Danley did a 180 degree turn on something i thought up a while back. A horn that looks like a column. Table Tuba & Tuba home theater bass horns disguised as a column, havent built one yet and just a crude sketchup but you get the idea
  10. wasn’t from my house, four units where i live now … main line backed up … that’s the grossest part. Hope its not tree roots growing through the clay pipes, very common around here. Always hated plumbing but the $$$ was good.
  11. Too many bran muffins ?
  12. Working on a couple of estimates myself. Taking a break once & a while playing Team fortress 2 and checking the Klipsch forum for interesting posts such as this.
  13. Send them to me next, i can use some better workshop speakers. I am getting tired of my old "White van" speakers.
  14. You are both confused, it will be THX-RF-7-3-Ultra.

  16. Horn loaded subs blend well with any speaker, does not need to be horn loaded. Horn loading reduces the distortion of any driver, lower distortion=better sound. I saw this post and thought, "WTF" but given you have one of those horn-loaded subs I can see where compared to it you came to that conclusion...That said, the RSW-15 may not go as low as some other $2,000 subs but for music I can't imagine a cleaner/louder sub except one that is horn loaded. I actually don't know anything about horn-loaded subs, but after writing this found you make Bill's designs and must say you do beautiful work. Thank you for your kind words. I take pride in my work and can build just about anything if i put my mind to it.
  17. Time to trade all my big horns for a pair of skinny towers and sub.
  18. First time i had the cops out for noise complaints was when i had a party at my parents house when i was a teenager cranking dad's old Altec's. Cops just said turn it down so it stayed down until they left then cranked it back up but they never came back luckily. Probably had 2 dozen or more complaints over the years but never recieved a ticket or fine so i guess i did not learn my lesson, my current neighbors have loud music playing much of the time so i no longer worry about it. *Edit* I take that statement back, i did get a ticket one time in my 79 Toyota Supra for having my music too loud, had a factory AM/Fm radio and a single dash speaker if i recall, just a d1ckhead Chicago cop with nothing better to do i guess.
  19. Sounds like you have it right, phase should be set where your subwoofer sounds loudest. When your subwoofer is in phase with your speakers they work together, when out of phase you get cancellations.
  20. Speaking of Smirnoff i wanted to mention a great bloody mary mix, its just as good as making it homemade. Zing Zang, its in a bottle, just shake & mix. I like my glass filled with ice, 35-40% vodka & top of with Zing Zang.
  21. Thanks, dad. I call you "dad" because that's exactly how my father talked to me, after I had done something stupid. After I fell out of a tree when I was a kid, I thought I broke my arm. My brother went running and found my dad, who immediately came out to where I was and saw me lying on the ground, writhing in pain, crying that my arm was broke. My dad took one look at me, assessed the situation, then asked me calmly; "what were you doing in the tree?" Thanks, Dad. You know how us old farts got so smart ? Because we probably made similar mistakes and learned from them so don't feel bad. I'm sure your father means well, we are after all human and do make mistakes from time to time.
  22. Lots of familiar mixes. Crown & Coke is always good. Rum and Coke is another great drink. Looks like something to try. Last time i had everclear i passed out on my bosses couch. Old Grand Dad would go well. Recipe looks worth it. Had a couple of shot of Appleton Rum earlier tonight Chhers Old Grand Dad is a good sub for ET. I like Wild Turkey myself but the price is as high as Willie Nelson. Not a big Gin fan but do like Long Island iced tea. The others listed may be worth a try.
  23. Would have been a whole lot easier to just put a compression tester on it.
