  1. I'd go with option 3. Stick with using the correct woofer for that model. Having said that, I have one woofer for a KG 3.2. Gotta find it first (we just moved), then see how it works. Last I saw, it looked fine - no scratches, tears, or dents.

  3. Congrats wuzzzer! I read in the other thread about the deal you took advantage of. Very cool. I've been saving for a UMC-1 for a bit, selling some gear to get there. There is an XPA-3 close to me for $375 that might mess up those plans! Once you get settled in, let us know your thoughts on the new processor.
  4. Roger Ebert doesn't think it's a good thing. I like this reason he gives: IT’S THE WASTE OF A DIMENSION. When you look at a 2-D movie, it’s already in 3-D as far as your mind is concerned. When you see Lawrence of Arabia growing from a speck as he rides toward you across the desert, are you thinking, “Look how slowly he grows against the horizon”? Our minds use the principle of perspective to provide the third dimension. Adding one artificially can make the illusion less convincing.
  5. I'm sure this has been done before, but what are your top five favorite releases? I tend to freeze up when someone asks me (usually when they're looking at my cd collection), "So....what are your favorites?" Tastes change often so be flippant with your five. Post another five later on. Or mold yours with 'top five Classical' or 'top five Zydeco'. If you have a five disc changer, what discs are in there right now? Rules here? There are no rules. Let's talk music! Past few days I've been listening to a lot of beeps and synth, so here's my top five electronica: 1. DJ Shadow - Endtroducing... 2. Front 242 - Front By Front 3. Depeche Mode - Violator 4. The Orb - Okie Dokie It's The Orb On Kompakt 5. Future Sound Of London - Lifeforms
  6. Haha, well said! Your group's right here. I do frequent this Forum to feel less crazy. It helps bring it down a notch. Groom: When I hear deserted island, I start imagining what music I'd bring and what speakers would go with me! To be one with the plants, I'll choose Brian Eno's On Land album.
  7. After seeing Avatar in 3-D, my head and eyes hurt the rest of the day. Fine during the movie, but afterward - ug! I don't think my brain and 3-D are a good match. Thanks for posting this article.
  8. I had an RF3 HT package for about 7 years (2000-2007). RF-3s, RC-3, RS-3s, & RSW-12. Very happy and content. Then I bought KG-1s for around $70 on Ebay. Oiled Oak with cane grilles (my HT system was all black). Very surprised at their sound, the KG-1s were used in my garage for a while, then I moved them into the living room alongside the RF-3s. Sure they didn't have the bass or efficiency, but they have a very true quality to them. Paired with the RSW-12, I loved the sound. Those KG-1s started the craze for me. I was a Klipsch fan for 7 years, then became a frothing-at-the-mouth junkie, hooked on exploring other models, mostly in the KG line. I've owned KG 1, 1.2, 3.2, 3.5, 4, 4.2, 5.5. They have all passed though me except the 1s , & 4.2s. It was hard to sell the others, but they were sold/given to family or friends (KG 4s sold on this Forum). I can also thank those KG-1s for getting me into the three-way Heritage line. Found a relatively cheap pair of Decorator Heresys, and Forte II's. Don't have a place for them all, but that's why I'm on this Forum. Therapy.
  9. Welcome to the Forum Anu! Yes, the RC-64 would be a great match for your RF-7s. Other reference centers (except the RC-7) would strain to keep up. There is someone selling a brand new RC-7 in the Garage Sale section. Click here.
  10. The Reference IV series is smoother in the treble than your RF-3 pair. Try that route before vandalizing. You could sell your RF-3s and start saving toward RF-62s or 82s. Or maybe horns are not for you.
  11. I saw Hi Fidelity ten years ago in the theater. Still love it. Some of the relationship aspects get old after many watches, but the music store scenes will live forever. I worked in a used & new CD store in the mid to late nineties, and this movie captures that music obsession I saw (and am a part of) very well. It's a fun one.
  12. Wow, 10,000! All that music - no need to leave the house! That room sounds sweet. And with your 2000 LPs, man. That's awesome. I have a very small LP collection (not even mentioned as a content source). I'm avoiding going crazy into Vinyl for fear of my finances. Must......regulate...obsessions.
  13. Man.....that would be...comforting. Could you post a picture(s) of that? Are they on homemade shelves?
  14. 1. CDs. ~1500 (worked in a CD store 1996-2000, sold used & new) - 50% 2. MP3s. Downloaded from Amazon, etc. Most are 192 kbps, getting into .flac files. - 30% 3. Movies. Want to watch more, just don't set aside the time - 15% 4. Wisconsin Public Radio's The Ideas Network (mostly in the car) - 5% I really don't watch TV channels. We have Charter's basic channels, seven of them I think. With TV series(es), we wait until they come out on DVD and get them through Netflix. It works very well - we just have to dodge spoilers or reviews that reveal too much!
  15. Haha! All the advice one could ever want....and where is he?!? I have Heresy I and Forte II, and definately recommend buying those Forte IIs near you.
  16. Some non-Attack & Release material: I'll Be Your Man Keep Me
  17. First exposure to them was on Conan O'Brien when Thickfreakness came out. Their first nationally broadcast performance. Couldn't believe what I was hearing. Very cool stuff. They definately deliver live.
  18. I think that's a great way to use the space. Fireplaces are real inefficient, unless you spend a good chunk of cash in modifying. You could borrow a sub from a friend to try it out.
  19. That's a great picture. Looks like the little guy is aiming to pass!
  20. Very cool Klipsch gift! Must be something in the air. Couple months ago I bought a pair of light oak KG 5.5s for my brother. One needed the motorboard reglued. After a couple hours work, they pound.
  21. If this has been covered before, I apologize. Are DeanG modded RF-7s comparable to the Reference IV line? Finally got the RF-7s out of storage and in our new house. After three weeks of listening they are on the harsh side for my ears. The RF-82s allow me to enjoy music for as long as I like. I'd like the same experience with the 7s. The mod's price is fine. Just would like some feedback before making the change.
  22. I'm out of my jurisdiction, but have read that the IIs have better bass than the Is. Also, you can upgrade the IIs so they perform like a Heresy III. I'd get the IIs, given that their condition is decent. Now members with more knowledge, please chime in.
  23. I would keep the flagship 83s. You may get the "what if" bug after replacing them with anything. I have the RF-82s - they're great AND they leave me dreaming what the 83s sound like.
