  1. ColaBear, not sure you would USE all that speaker for effects.I'm with boa12, go with the S6's.But then again it never hurts to have a few spares around! And I agree with t-man.Get more subs.I'm runnin 6 myself.Trying to figure out how to wire the last three KSP300's into the mix.I too was concerned about aesthetics so I bought black pair for the front and four mahogany for the rear.Wanted the rears to blend in well with cherry and mahogany furniture(Oh yeah, got a spare black too).Did the different finishes because I'm concerned how my room looks.I'm a part time infernal decorator,ya know? On second thought CB, get the 30's. Keith
  2. Has anyone tried daisy chaining front L/R KSP300's and sub? In other words, sub out to say left front, left front to right front, right front to sub(via line level of course).Any audible improvement in quanity or quality of bass? Thanks, Keith
  3. Who cares. I use old telephone wire for my speaker wire.Who can afford to spend $10 or $15 for speaker wire after spending thousands on the speakers? Keith
  4. soundog, thanks for the info. Keith
  5. dcb, just re-reading the post and forgot to tell you this. With the Sony ES reciever and Acurus amp I've used forever- no hiss whatsoever.Have used KG5.5's and KSP300's, among others, with above.Get an Acurus. Keith
  6. Hey t-man, how's it hangin? Yeah, I try to keep a good supply of speakers around.Ran across a deal on a pair of NIB KT-DS THX dipole surrounds.Don't need em. Got em. The C5-center sub experiment is on hold.Been working alot.Tried a quick test one day and decided it would take a little fine tuning.I try not to make hasty decisions. Good luck with the center (get a C7). Keith
  7. ED, thanks for the reply. Seems I remember reading somewhere years ago that size doesn't matter, how you drive what you've got is more important.Don't remember where I read that. Keith
  8. Fozzy, look at the bottom of this forum page under " who asked about remote power on " posted by myself. You lucky rascal.Wish I had those two subs! Keith
  9. sounddog, what hardware did you use to hang the surrounds ? Where did you get it? Thanks, Keith
  10. OOPS, make that www.audioadvisor.com Keith
  11. afraid, don't be afraid to click on the following for good prices on stands. www.accessories4less.com Keith
  12. Stu, I'm going out on a limb here with this comment.Five or six years ago I replaced the interconnects and speaker wire on my KG 5.5 speakers.I bought several pairs of Monster Interlink 400 MKII 1/2 meter pairs @ $29.95 a pair and about 40' of Audioquest Type 6 speaker wire @ $2.75 a foot. The difference was as apparent to me as the sack on your head. Keith
  13. And one more thing cleger. What were you powering the 30's with prior to the Rotel? What is your opinion as to the differences in the sound of the 30's using the 200 WPC amp as opposed to the earlier AV receiver/amp? Keith
  14. cleger, listen to this.I recently bought seven KSP300's.Bought five from one dealer and about a month or so later bought another pair from another dealer.I had listened to the first speakers quite extensively prior to buying the last two. After getting the last two speakers I placed them at the front of my room and had a pair of the earlier purchased speakers at the rear.Started a CD and the sound difference was like a kick in the ear.Took about one minute for me to decide that the problem was that the new fronts were not "broke in", as the rear two were demos and had played.I wish any doubting Nillie's could sit in my living room right now and listen to the difference in the front and rear pair running the same full range signal to all.The difference is readily apparent.Give those 30's time, they'll sound better and better and better............. Keith
  15. ED, how about giving us the rundown on the ATI1505.Lots of us have inquiring minds(we want to know).Did you power the KLF's with something other than the ATI and if so what were the differences in sound quality?Could you tell a difference in the dynamics of the Legends using the ATI amp? What about the differences in the sound of the 20's and 30's say running the same power (150 watts)and the same amp thru em.Have you done an A/B test for sound diffences in the 20's and 30's? Inquiring minds want to know! Keith
  16. mdeneen,my opinion exactly, except for the fact that I do not believe that the cost IS THAT prohibitive. If a person spends his money wisely on high quality components and divides that cost over the years of use, then the TOTAL cost becomes more affordable. Most high quality audio components will last for many years and are repairable, rather than disposible, and a person will enjoy better sound over the life of these components.I believe my current reciever has given me the many years of use that I have enjoyed simply because I use it basically as a preamp, with a separate power amplifier.Lay your hand on top of the current $1K-$3K five to seven channel recievers available now and guess how long they will last cooking on your component rack.My intention is to buy a high quality receiver simply for the processing and a separate multi-channel amp for power. Another thing, years ago I bought a boat and began fishing. At one time I figured the cost for the fish that I had for dinner, allowing for equipment and expenses,to be around $22.87 a pound. Now that I no longer fish for a hobby I figure that I am actually saving money because high quality sound only costs me about $14.12 a dB (my wife took the bait by the way). The only problem is that after I have an enjoyable music session I am still hungry. You OLD two channel dudes need ta get with it! Keith
  17. t-man,just as I told you the KV2 would match the 5.5's well, the only improvement above and beyond the KV2,for use with the 5.5's, will be a KLFC7.My personal opinion is that the KSFC5 is a better center for the 5.5's, if your primary interest is HT.The clarity of voices with the C5 is much better than the C7.I paid $197 at local dealer for my C5. I have right now as I type this post a C7, a C5,and a KV2.The C5 is in use and the rest are in cold storage.I tell you this for your benefit. Keith
  18. Carlucci, yeah I noticed the diference.Run speaker wire from either "B" speaker terminals or you could do as I did and stack bananas on top of your "A" speaker terminals. I noticed a substantial (audible) difference when I later removed high level and went to line level inputs to the sub.Drop in output with line level coincided with a "tightening" of bass which can be remedied with volume control.Speaker level to sub will allow you to "use the subwoofer to its fullest extent" and the same can then also be said for your Heresy's.Use of a "Y" cord at sub is said to give a 6dB increase in output.May the force be with you. Keith
  19. What about a trade? One pair of as new KSPS6's for a like LF10 ? Keith
  20. I sure do wish someone would save themselves time and money and listen to what I have to say. After all,I know it all. With KG5.5's,use a Klipsch KLFC7 for an all-round GREAT center speaker. You may even try a Klipsch KSPC6 or a Klipsch KSFC5 if HT is your bag and you want the utmost in CLARITY. Go forth and use YOUR money wisely. Keith
  21. dbngaa, I can tell you exactly what you want to know, but it will be my OPINION. I used KG5.5's for years.I think they are great speakers. They do tend to be somewhat bright, however. But not nearly as bright to MY ears as the Reference line.As far as the centers you have named the KLFC7 has that Legend sound (of coarse)that seems to lean toward the low end.Dialogue with the KLFC7 is not nearly as CLEAR (HT) as the KSPC6 will be.If you read the reviews at www.audioreview.com for instance you will read people speak of CLARITY when speaking of the Premiere center speakers. That clarity is immediately apparent to MY ears.On the other hand the KLFC7 blows your mind with the sheer VOLUME of sound that it gives. You will immediately think that you need to lower your center channel volume as the C7 will easily overplay the 5.5's. So to sum up my opinion, if HT was my primary concern, as far as the center is concerned, I would buy the KSPC6 for the CLARITY, but the KLFC7 would be the better choice if the center comes into play for music (the problem is I have been ruined by the clarity of the C6). I have not tried the Premiere center with the 5.5's, by the way. Also the C7's bassey? sound seems to work well with the bright upper edge or the 5.5's.Talk to someone at Klipsch about their opinion of the "match" of the C6 and the 5.5's.You cannot go wrong with either of these speakers. They are simply great speakers. You could do as I did and buy one of each.As far as the surrounds go,go get the RS3's and be done with it.Hope this helps, Keith PS-one last thought. The KG5.5's are somewhat bright to my ears,as I stated earlier.I DEFINITELY KNEW I did not want to add the RC3 to the mix.The KSPC6 offers CLARITY without the crisp upper edge. The KLFC7 offers great sound and blends well with the 5.5's,with a slight loss of detail. You spoke of HT use.If you go with C6 for HT the dialogue will be unbeatable.Boy it sure hurts to type that,as I simply love the C7 (its in the box).
  22. I replaced those pretty gold stamped jumper bars on my KSP300's with 12ga. solid copper that set me back $.08 a foot.I personally could tell no difference in the sound quality. It did however make a LARGE psychological difference in how I thought the rear of my speakers looked.I buffed up the gold bars and replaced them on my speakers. Keith Boa12, why don't you just eyeball E-Bay and pick your bad self out one of those like new Acurus 200X3's that go for around $550 or so? Those 30's would really dance!
  23. jimbobo, dial up www.accessories4less.com and check out the IXOS-6003 GammaGeometry 13AWG speaker wire at $1.45 per foot.Don't know if it sounds worth a crap but it sure is purty. How bout lettin us know what you think. If its no good I'm still thinking about gettin some and run it around on the floor so everyone can see it.Good luck, Keith
