  1. And for anyone that enjoys Beck's sidemen, check out a group called Hummingbird. Shares some JBG personel, but with "Pretty" Purdie on drums, and a chunk of Funk, including some regrooved JBG classics.
  2. Bulgarian Pressings? Pre or Post Russian Federation? Shiny Covers or Raw Unfinished Cardstock? Catalog numbers? Most are worth more than $15 if the covers and vinyl are in good condition, as there are plenty of Beatles completist collectors out there. Any popular act in English with Russian print on the cover is a easy sell to collectors. I have a few in my store and the real Russian McCartney U.S.S.R. LP on Melodia. Early Russian presses I have heard, sound like playing sandpaper, where others, especially Federation ones, are some of the quietest(in a good way) pieces of vinyl I've ever played. Some legit, some counterfeit, both collectable.
  3. and great times and first times, etc.
  4. Hmmmmm a Jub Bin cut in half, what a great idea![]
  5. Music therapy is also gaining traction with Elderly and Alzheimer's patients.
  6. Yup, everything but "But as the news unfolds she will come around.". I'm guessing you can't or don't care/dare to elaborate on that here, but feel bad that the outlook apears so grim from where you are standing. However, I'm a Canadian, so I can't possibly understand and may even be part of the great conspiracy, to destroy your way of life!LOL
  7. Some great shots here: http://www.micrographia.com/projec/projapps/viny/viny0100.htm I will have to fire up my USB microscope that I usually just use to check stylus tips and try and snap some shots of my Telarc 1812 pressing. You can see the almost 90 degree turns when the Cannons kick in, without magnification! I've only had one cart/styli/arm combo that can reliably track it, but no speaker to properly reproduce...yet.
  8. Before you go and buy yourself a new amp(even though it is a great excuse for new gear), I would also recommend playing some more with what you are running through it. Not only source wise, with a few different players and formats(VINYL!), but also the era of CD's. I don't mean the musical style so much, but a quick Google of "Loudness Wars" will explain better than I can. Klipsch speakers are the perfect storm to make the effects of over compression, far more noticable and unpleasant. For many, Klipsch is their first speaker ,that is acurate in it's reproduction of mid/hi and it reveals a weakness in the current CD mastering/remastering process, not as noticable in other speakers. That said, I myself have not yet heard a home theatre receiver with DSP and the like, in all price ranges, that I liked as much as a straight dedicated 2 Channel amp.
  9. Anytime you want to hop across the border, my store is near Niagara Falls and I can hook you up, with more than you could handle. Always have lots that aren't up to my standards to sell in the store. www.atomixrecords.com
  10. Nice job. I am hoping to finally restart a SP10Mk lI plinth project again this year, but think I'll be staying a little more traditional. I'd still love to do a space age design showpiece at some point though.
  11. The II of Mk II usualy means second generation, and in the case of the Direct Drives, Quartz Lock. I never recomend buying used( or in some cases new) online. I am a bricks and mortar store owner, like to support the local economy if I can and most importantly, believe that try before you buy is crucial, as many sellers either lie about condition/details or don't tell the truth. That's without even getting into online scams or trusting whatever shippong method to take care of your purchase. That and for that same $375 you could get a 1800 Mk II AND a nice new cart/styli, plus, etc. I'm trying to stress how the price of the 1200 Mk II will always be inflated because of original retail cost and name recognition, compared to the other models I've mention, which are part for part,PCB board and motor identical.
  12. Anyone handy with a soldering iron and a screw driver can do a nice job of replacing RCA's. My tech only charges customers $20, for a quality RCA replacement, but if you wanted to go all boutiki and provide your own $5000 cables he'd do those too...for $20. Cueing on the 1800 MkII is a lever with a direct mechanical lever on the tonearm/no auto return and prefer it over the 1700 MkII. The reason I say one of them over a 1200 MkII is because the can be had for a song and tend to have been cared for better than decks used for DJing and generally exposed to more elements(smoke, beer, being dropped, etc.).
  13. Love my KG 4's! One of the many beauties of the Klipsch speakers is you can power them with just about any quality amp and get great results and plenty of headroom. The sound of these is unbelieveable for their size.
  14. In most cases no. Only one people chase after here are the Clairtone G2's, but more because of their Groovy mod stylings.
  15. If you have seen the back and there are RCA's as opposed to some connectors that made you ask "WTF are these?", you are good to go.
  16. I am a big Technics fan boy, more so their 2nd generation Direct Drives, SL models and of course the mighty SP's. That said, don't spend too much time or money on this model. It is a ok deck, but just that, ok. The pitch tends to drift, the arm height is not adjustable and there is not a lot of mass to the platter or plinth. The cart and stylus are good, IF the stylus is not worn and is properly aligned, but a replacement stylus for that model is getting hard to find(NOS) and costs more than the total value of the table. The best tweaks for that model, would be better feet, better mat or dampen the underside of the platter and perhaps having the bearing points on the tone arm tuned up. I would sooner put that money into a SL 1700/1800 Mk II, which would give you all Technics has to offer, without stepping into the more expensive(but internal identical) 1200's or SP series.
  17. I've used and enjoyed a Rotel, black face RX-602 on some KG 4's. $65 is a ok price and the phono stage and pre section are top notch for the price. If you upgrade in the future and get a straight power amp,the Rotel has the pre out jacks that will let you still use it as a dedicated pre-amp. Just make sure the model you're bidding on has the RCA inputs/outputs and not the DIN style.
  18. If you have already contacted Klipsch directly and seeing as none of the seasoned vets(I'm a rookie) here have chimed in, I would guess either Ebay or you will have to replace them with something else. Good luck and if you do find a answer, post it here to help whoever comes along in the future.
  19. Didn't these models have a seperate fuse for the HF section? If so, have you checked them?
  20. Hey we'll not all separatists you know! Speak for yourself, it goes both ways you know! Only joking mon ami, just a long running joke with some Franco Frog Salopards I know.LOL Acadian girls are a whole 'nuther story and I have a very warm spot in my pantalons for them.
  21. I have two of the original QSC 1500's running bridged to power a system with two 15" bass cabs, two 12" with HF horns and sometimes a pair of Yorkville "Sibilance Projector" super tweeters as well. The one QSC 1500 running in stereo is enough to run this system, but liked having the extra headroom. Only issue I had with the QSC's is one flakey input jack and fans needing to be cleaned/re-lubed after years of hard use. They do have a hard clip/thermal protection, but that would never be a issue in your case. I also have a pair of Kg 4's and 50 watts a side with a old "Black Jap" Rotel RX-602 was more than enough to take 'em full tilt at noon and not over drive them. Mind you, this system is in a smaller room and as soon as I finish getting my Sansui AU 20000 tweaked, I'll be trying 170 watts a side, but doubt that I'll ever run them that hard. The QSC 1500 would be more at home with some LaSala's, but even then is more power than you need. But for $200 or less, grab it now and you may get better use/application later.
  22. Yes, stained seems likely, but they did look bootyful.
  23. Thought that was the crunchy outside of a biscuit. Ohhhhh Crux! Nevermind. No worries PSG, I haven't visited your Country to the east of me in years, maybe once I get my passport renewed.[]
  24. In english it was meant to read "LaSala's, two weeks ago", not Lascala II's. Forgot the comma. Wellllllll EXCUSEZ MOI!!!!LOL I am a ply guy, so the new models using MDF, may sound a little better, but even without budget restrictions, don't make me drool much. I did see the pair on CAM, but this was a different set and a offline sale. I also recently suffered the effects of extolling the virtures of Klipsch to customers, when one of the regulars that would have normaly resold them to me, scored a pair of Belle's for a deal and is enjoying them with Crites mods to add to my pain.
