  1. I am offering these first to fellow forum members. Cornwalls in oiled walnut has a few dings but 8/10. Label says 1980 with consecutive serials 8451671 and 8451672. woofers replaced with Crites($240. plus shipping). B-3 crossovers are original and could use new caps but i will leave that to the new owner. Sound sweet. West Palm Beach 33411. $950.
  2. You dont know how much will power it took to NOT buy your Cornwalls. I live next door in Royal Palm Beach. I am currently in rehab undergoing a 12 step program for electronics hoarding. Glad they went to a good home.

    Worst cut?

My horror story begins with my attempt to fix a garage door. the wrench i was holding released the spring and the wrench was sent into my arm opening it up within a couple of mm's away from an artery. When the emergency folks arrived they looked and told me they were impressed. It was like that Terminator movie scene where Arnold, to show that he was a cyborg, cuts the skin away from his arm to reveal the metal substructure. Mine was bone.
  5. Pro Heresy speakers in Florida. Not associated with seller. http://miami.craigslist.org/brw/ele/4478786304.html
  6. "Klipsch Premium speakers". Not connected in any way. http://miami.craigslist.org/brw/msg/4474640433.html
  7. CL is a great source for Klipsch speakers and what not. A few years ago i found a mint pair of walnut Khorns(AK-2) for $200. They were supposed to come with a center which was sold before i got there. What kills me is that the door was closed after we moved out the speakers into my friends pickup. There was a custom made rack full of nice gear still in the house which i wanted to check out. The women closing the house said sorry she had to leave immediately and was not coming back. The house was being emptied for a sale and so the new owner of the house got some nice stereo equipment which i missed out on. At least i got my dream speakers.
  8. Here is a picture of a Linn Sondek Basik from 1983 that came with an extra new old stock A&R P77 cartridge I found on CL. Good combo soundwise. The turntable was a royal pain to setup but rewarding. Listening to the Rolling Stones Aftermath "Under My Thumb" with that fuzzy bass giving the Klipschorns a workout. Love it.
  9. not sure what i need to spend to provide a good match for this table. i will be hooking this up to my Denon receiver which has a turntable input. I was thinking of a Shure M97XE.
  10. Just brought home a Linn LP12 Basik LVX with Valhalla upgrade with a couple of cartridges i found on CL for $600. I would say an 8 out of 10 with the dust cover having some light scratches which should buff out. I will want to replace the A&R P77 cartridge currently mounted. Any suggestions?
  11. I worked in radio as on air talent for a series of stations leaving the industry in 2004 (I left the flagship Cox station in CT after 15 years). I saw changes in technology changing opportunities in the industry. The change from analog to digital changed how stations could supply product from local to network and if you have been following the industry you will see most stations are owned now by just a few companies. I jumped ship and changed to IT work because i saw the writing on the wall. I have to say that college radio where i started was my happiest memory.
  12. Love the Dan. From early songs like Rose Darling(check out the background vocals from Michael McDonald) to the later album "Two Against Nature". Great production is the standard. Naked Lunch author William Burroughs died recently from which the group took their name from a certain device in this novel.
  13. I remember seeing Genesis in NYC for their Lamb Lies Down On Broadway tour at the Paladium. I got separated from my friends upon entering the venue and after a while i heard a "Rick, Rick, Rick building outside of the bathrooms in the lobby. I did not realize this was meant for me. My friends were calling for me and the audience joined in. When i walked out of the mens room i found my group and a hugh hurrah came from the crowd. A great concert and a memorable piss. By the way Steve Winwood was not in Genesis.
  14. One of my favorites is Fitzgerald/Amstrong together on the standard "Autumn in New York". My god Ellas voice sends shivers up my spine. A great stop in New York is the Louis Armstrong Museum. Check out his stereo.
  15. That brings back memories. Here is a link: http://wegavision.pytalhost.com/
  16. I got a phono cartridge and carbon fiber record brush i left for my wife to find on Amazon in the shopping cart as a hint for her. It worked.
  17. Nice to see you are a neighbor. I am in Royal Palm Beach. Howdy.
  18. a wonderful movie about an automaton is "Hugo". by Martin Scorsese. an homage to early films.
  19. I picked up a kids multipower microscope kit at a yard sale and that has worked great to check a stylus. You can probably pick one up online.
  20. Rock 'n Roll: The most brutal, ugly, desperate, vicious form of expression it has been my misfortune to hear. Frank Sinatra
  21. The last rock concert for me was Lou Reed in Boston back in the 80's. Thank god i brought along ear plugs because we had front row seats stage left in front of a huge stack of speakers. Time is fleeting. RIP Lou Reed.
