If buying used is an option, this looks like a pretty nice unit... http://www.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls.pl?ampsmult&1326387037&/Marantz-SR-5005

Very, very impressive Gorm. Congrats!
-
I enjoy both. LS w/ a sub is just a tough combo to beat. The Fortes are certainly no slouch, and probably the best "bang-for-buck" speaker I have ever owned. The midrange is where it's at for me!
-
I had a 82/64 combo for a while and loved it. If you EVER plan on upgrading your fronts, you might as well go w/ the 64. Get the best center you can afford.

Klipsch Cornwall II for Sale - Original owner Delaware $900.00
jrod replied to mwilliams61's topic in 2-Channel Home Audio
Welcome to the Forum. Just a note, you will have much better luck moving your Corns if: a) you post this in the "Garage Sale" section of the Forum you add more pictures showing the overall condition c) mention if you are willing to ship (original boxes are a nice touch!) Again, welcome. Jrod -
If you could stretch your budget a bit: http://www.accessories4less.com/make-a-store/item/ONKA9555BLK/Onkyo-A-9555-Integrated-Digital-Amplifier-Black/1.html I love mine, everything about it. Tons of power (more than I could ever need); excellent detail; nice, tight bass. Great remote (small thing, but still). I've never seen a poor review on this piece, kinda what sold me on it. I've run every speaker in my signature on it, all sounded great. Let us know what you decide.

Finally got around to it.....La Scala's
jrod replied to RockOn4Klipsch's topic in Technical/Restorations
Same thing happen to me. The second I heard my LS, I was hooked. Keep an eye out for Corns as well, I have been VERY pleased w/ mine. I really like Bob's 4500's/CT-125 combo in my LS, give it a shot if you get a chance. And, nice work, btw! -
Be-A-utiful!!! Wow. I really like those. Love my cherry original 7's, but those are gorgeous. They remind me of "decorator" Heritage gear. Just stunning. If not for the corner blemish, the grills would never see the light of day in my house!! Congrats!! Ps- an added bonus is that 7s kick A LOT of tail in the sound department too!!!

At one point in my Klipsch-life I upgraded from RF-82's to La Scalas (skipped a few steps)... It was truely an eye opening experience. You will be shocked, in a good way. Let us know your impressions.
-
I have the exact same mod on my LS that you are going with. Went from AL xovers and stock square tweets --------> Bob's 4500's and CT-125's. It was a nice little upgrade, you will enjoy it. Let us know what you think. Jrod

I've considered giving my nephew my Forte IIs for a high school graduation gift... But, NEVER my CWs!!! Nice gesture.

Best Crossover Replacement for my La Scalas?

Went from AL's to 4500 + CT125's and am very pleased. -
Who else is excited for the Klipsch Mode Noise-canceling headphones?
jrod replied to justin_tx_16's topic in Headphones
I can certainly do that, Justin. I fly a lot for work, so I will be able to put the noise-canceling to the test!! -

They will be mine... oh yes, they will be mine. The $350 pricetag is going to sting a bit... But, you get what you pay for (well, not in the case of Beats by Dre... those are expensive AND garbage.) Looks like my One's (which I love) will get handed down to the old lady. [H] -
gorgeous Corns!! Love the look of decorators. Might have to put that on my list of "must-haves".

Problems with my newly aquired La Scala's
jrod replied to jeff spicoli's topic in 2-Channel Home Audio
Eeeeeek!! The dreaded AL xover!! [st] Just kidding. I had those in mine for a while, they weren't that bad, but they do get a pretty bad rap here on the Forum. You might want to seek out a Forum member named Speakerfritz. He was trading his rebuilt AA xovers for old, dusty, AL xovers... for free (you pay shipping). At least you could get something new in there and see if it made any difference. If you didn't like fritz's crosses you wouldn't be out any coin. Then you could try Bob's AA's or A/4500. I have the 4500's in mine w/ Bob's 125's tweets and I really like the way they sound. Obviously, try all this AFTER you have tried the previous (relatively FREE) options. But, these are some other options. Good luck, and let us know how they turn out!! -
Give this little guy a look... http://www.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls.pl?ampsmult&1318713029&/B-K-Components-AV-5000-5-channel Great price, and a highly respected name. As I'm sure you are aware the 100w of a seperate amp are WAY different than the 110w of a mass market receiver. I think this could, at least, get you moving in the right direction. Plus, you could try it out, and if it doesn't work, you could easily get your $$ back out of it. Let us know what you end up with. Good luck!

Need help selecting two channel tube set-up
jrod replied to cornfedksboy's topic in 2-Channel Home Audio
I agree w/ Davis, either Quartets or Fortes. Anything bigger would be a little overkill, and might effect the WAF. I absolutely love my Fortes in a similiar sized room as yours. I run vintage Marantz ss, and love the results (the new Onkyo integrated sounds OUTSTANDING with them too). I may venture into tubes someday myself, but for now, I'm enjoying what I got.... Ps- The combo (mint Forte IIs + vintage Marantz ss) was WAY under a grand. -
They really do pound, don't they. Man, I love my CWs. Enjoy those bad boys.
-
I love my Outback, thing really is a tank. It prefers snow over asphalt, dirt over gravel. A necessity in NE Ohio! Plus, it gets right at about 32mpg, an added bonus! Good luck w/ your purchase, let us know how it goes.
-
Where are the guys looking for Fortes located? I may be looking to get rid of my OO Forte IIs in outstanding condition. If you are anywhere near Ohio, drop me a PM and we can discuss price. I would be willig to let mine go for under $575, that is for sure.

Have loved mine since the day I got it. Does warm up, I have about a foot of space above mine, and it's fine. Fantastic for movies, good with music. I highly recommend them.

Pioneer Elite SC37 + Outlaw 7700 Amp for RC-83/RC64/RS62/RB81 setup
jrod replied to jfviper666's topic in Home Theater
Monster system. You'll be fine. -
Are you in the "get passed every level" camp, or the "get 3 stars on every level" camp. Personally, I HAVE to get 3 stars before I allow myself to move on, it can truly be infuriating. I currently have 3 stars on every level of AB that Rovio has ever released (AB, AB Seasons, AB Rio) for the iPad/iPhone (except for the levels released on Tuesday)... How sad is that?!? I fly a lot for work, perfect game for the plane.

Looks great so far, really excited to watch this thread. Nice work!!
