    MI forte iis

Post has been deleted. Regards, John
  2. The forte II, beats out the 1st version INMHO. The 2nd version has the tractrix mid horn, and larger 15 passive radiator. The mid on the 2nd generation is much more open and live INMHO. You can get a mint used pair in most markets for $750-$1,000 You can do some additional reversible upgrades as I have done to mine, and you are pretty darn close to a forte III. Regards, John
  3. Keep in mind, Quartet, Forte, and Chorus versions need the flexibility of being placed 6-12 inches from respective rear wall for proper bass response, depending on environment.. Regards, John
  4. I have owned my forte II since new, purchased in 1992. When you consider that a new pair of forte III run $3,600.00 a lot to weigh there. The forte II with a few reversible mods comes very close to a 3. I know we are comparing apples to oranges in the sense of comparing a 25 plus year old speaker value to current production. The point being if immaculate original paperwork, boxes, etc. is $1,200.00 too much for at least another 25 plus years of enjoyment? Only you can answer that. My vote would be to buy. I would try and settle at or around a $1,000.00 . Regards, John

  10. Scott What is your geographic location? Will help with knowing what is reasonable driving distance for you. Regards, John
  11. Those cabinets are pretty beat up. 5/10 at best INMHO. $500.00 is most I would offer on that pair. OP, Forte II and Cornwall are both excellent speakers. The Cornwall will give you a little more bass with the 15" driver. The forte II is no slouch on bass either with a 12" driver & 15 Passive. INMHO the forte II outshines the Cornwall in the mid range. Cant go wrong either way. Take your time you will find the right pair. INMHO anything within a 4-5 hour drive each way is worth it for the right pair. Good luck John
  12. Welcome to the forum. Yes, your gear would match very well. Regards, John
  13. If you look at the listing he is not firm and accepting offers. Regards, John
  14. Worth a try. When I spoke with the owner about a year ago, he told me he had forte III badges he could provide had I put lambswool fabric on my forte II. 18. Apparently they have sold. Listing has expired.
  19. Anyone have the opportunity to A/B a Cornwall IV vs. a CornScala? My interest lies in the 2 way D model, but any version would be appreciated. The CornScala would be a great quarantine project and quite a savings if similar attributes. I know to a certain degree I am comparing apples to oranges with the Type D being a 2 way design. Regards, John
  20. Gintaras, if that falls through the Adcom GCD 750 is very good as well, Regards, John
  21. Thank you. She is selling an Academy as well. I think posted serial number of Academy with CF-4 photos was a mistake. She sent me additional photos with the serial numbers I posted on this thread. They are firm on $1,500.00 , or will keep. I gave her a standing offer and told them to let me know if they change their mind.
  22. Beautiful work! Those would look Drop Dead Gorgeous in Distressed Oak like the forte III! Would have been nice to see that finish on the Cornwall IV as well. Send the grills to Duracrest Fabrics in Elk Grove Village, IL. for a fresh lambswool covering!
  23. Well all indicators are that they are indeed a V1 CF-4 pair. Validated 5" inch port tube length with owners daughter. Hard to believe there were 3 versions in a 3 year run. They must have moved to V2 the day after these were tested and serialized!
  24. Thanks again Mark. She sent me additional photos which reflect the apparent 1995 date, if so could it still be a V!?
