Bonzo Nice system. I think you will find over time that although you can "feel" the bass more with a Cornwall, the forte II is more balanced and actually digs a little lower. INMHO a better mid range horn as well. I tried various subs over the past 26 years or so, and as someone else mentioned the sonic quality actually sounded a little off with the forte II. Once you get the speakers coupled to the floor again, bass should improve. Enjoy Regards, John

About every 18 months or so I pop open my SS Pre Amp and Amp in order to clean the innards. I usually just blast out with air from my compressor, much cheaper than buying a $15.00 bottle of air. Is there a better way to clean? IE, other products I should/could be using? Only pet in the home is a English Field Springer Spaniel. Regards, John

What are the best speakers for my application?
John Chi-town replied to M1J0E's topic in 2-Channel Home Audio
Welcome to the forum. You cannot go wrong with a forte or a forte II Regards, John -
Very interesting. What are the size of the cabinets, they appear to be about Cornwall size. perhaps slightly taller? Also how is the horn mounted to cabinet? Is the horn a tractrix design, or exponential? Lastly, what color are the horns, they almost look hunter , or blaze orange in photo's? Regards, John

Are the cabinets and speakers mint, as described in ad? Regards, John

Should the serial number not dictate version? Regards, John -
That is strange, his Craigslist post is still active? Now I am beginning to wonder if nothing more than a scam? Regards, John

Do the CF series have structural cabinet issues like KLF line? Also how would you compare the sound to the forte line? Regards, John -

Look for a pair or two of the Quartet. Closest match INMHO Regards, John

Your welcome. I have spoken to owner, great guy. $100.00 for forte II installed with forte III lambswool, re-using original badges. They can provide newer badges as well. My cloth and badges are perfect as is, but really considering the forte III lambswool. Since they are only 25 miles from my front door, shipping is not a factor. Regards, John

Duracrest Fabrics in Elk Grove Village Illinois has made the Klipsch cloth since the early 80"s. I have been toying with having my forte II done in lambswool as well. Address: 2474 Delta Ln, Elk Grove Village, IL 60007 Phone: (847) 350-0030 Regards, John

Mine are exactly 10 feet apart and 18 inches from rear wall. my listening position is 15 feet from speakers. NO TOE IN. I agree with you wholeheartedly on no toe in. Yet everything in this game is subjective. Perhaps speakers without a tractrix mid. When toed in any position that "horn honk" always seems to be just around the corner, or ever so slightly present. Regards, John

Try without toe in, straight forward, and 12-18 inches from rear wall. Regards John

Sound isolation for Forte II speakers. Is it necessary?
John Chi-town replied to AriKona's topic in Technical/Restorations
I also own forte II over carpet on concrete floor. I assume you have padding under carpet? I do, I have positioned 18 inches off of rear wall, and bass is perfect INMHO. Good luck! John -
Lambs wool grill cloth for my Heresy III's?
John Chi-town replied to McBlueMeter's topic in 2-Channel Home Audio
The around $100/-- quote included re-using my original badges which are mint. Regards, John -
The forte III has a titanium diaphragm for squawker and tweeter.. Am I missing something? Regards, John

A true comarison would be a moded forte II with new caps, TI Squawker and Tweeter as I have done on my II's. Although I was unable to compare side by side with a III, it is extremely close. Regards, John

Lambs wool grill cloth for my Heresy III's?
John Chi-town replied to McBlueMeter's topic in 2-Channel Home Audio
Your welcome. They will apply for you or you can do yourself. Since they are local for me thinking of dropping off grills late next week. Quoted me about $100.00 That is fabric installed and badges put back on. Exact fabric as forte III lambs wool since they are the supplier. Regards, John -
Adcom INMHO makes some very good pieces. IE THE GFP 750 Pre with passive and active gain is one of the best preamps I haver ever heard or owned. The current 555se, 565SE, etc. are all 99% based on based on Nelson Pass's original designs with updated circuit boards, etc. Regards, John

Would you upgrade KG4s to Forte 11's for about $200?
John Chi-town replied to JWATS's topic in General Klipsch Info
Two ears, two speakers. I have owned my forte II new since 1992. My 2 channel system is my HT as well. So yes, upgrade to the f ii's, and you will be set for life. Regards, John
