  1. Fjd, thanks for bringing this thread back to life. It was a pleasure to read from beginning to end, and reminded me of why I became interested in this forum to begin with. There was a lot of good information, together with a healthy dose of mutual respect.
  2. Wow, really nice setup Tony. I've just started playing around with a 5.2 system in my shop. Started with a pair of MCM 1900 stacks for the fronts. A dinky little KG 3.2 for the center until I can find a suitable replacement. Lastly, I'm using a pair of Klipschorns for the surrounds and a couple of PSA v1800 subs. Ive got a pretty large space to fill at 14,000 cubic feet, so will probably need to add 2 more v1800 or a v3600 in the future.
  3. pCats so rarely come up for sale, I'm surprised they haven't sold yet.
  4. Dang Mark, you gotta get on it! These things sound amazing. Since these came out of an AMC cinema, I figured I'd hang a 120" screen between the stacks. Movie nights have been a whole new adventure.
  5. I use Discogs on a regular basis to buy, sell and catalogue my lp collection. At over 3400 albums it's the only hope I have of not buying duplicates. I have had great success buying from overseas sellers with only one exception.
  6. 78 through 80 for me. Did you go through dry dock at Mare Island? I know the Henry was there with us, can't really recall if the Washington was or not. You must have been on Ford Island during off crew though.
  7. Jimjimbo, what years were you in the boomer community? (And a weaponeer no less)
  8. Thanks Steve and to all those that served or supported those that served. USS Robert E Lee SSBN 601 Gold. MT2(SS)
  9. 3 window coupe, more fun to drive than the farm truck.
  10. Farm truck, runs great when the plug wires don't fall off.
  11. Prayers out for strength and a speedy recovery..
  12. Love to see some pics of the plymouth. I'm a big fan of the Rat Rod concept, got pretty tired of everything billet. I hear you on regretting selling. Every time I think about doing that, I just know I'll regret it later.
  13. Thanks Yep, that was pretty much my wife's reaction. No way those things are going in the house. I tested them with an old yamaha receiver. Once I confirmed everything was in working order, I hooked them up to a set of VRD's. Plenty of power for the space I have them in (24x48).
  14. Yep, Mark says it's customary to pay for the dust upgrade. Something about proper frequency dispersion.
  15. Thanks Ceptorman and BigStewMan, they both sound great too. This whole Klipsch thing started out wanting some tunes while working in the shop. Now I'm trying to figure out how to keep the cars out of the way so they don't interfere with the soundstage.
  16. Hey guys, so I pulled the trigger and bought a set of MCM 1900s from Miner Mark. Had a great time visiting Mark's man cave and seeing the progress on the restorationof of his MCM1900 stacks. Mark couldn't have been more helpful. After the tour, Mark and my Son in law helped me load both stacks in the Uhaul for the trip back to Susanville. I spent the next day vacuuming and cleaning the surface dust, dirt, cobwebs and general grime. Once done, in order to satisfy my generally impatient manner, I hooked em all up hoping all the drivers work. Bingo, no problems, all the divers are firing. My neighbors might be a little concerned. Anyway, so far I'm having loads of fun. Next step is to tear everything down, patch, fill and refinish.
  17. Thanks Mark for the hospitality. We had a great time visiting the man cave and witnessing first hand how pissin off the neighbors is done. Now that we got the stacks home the real fun begins. I really appreciate all the time you spent detailing what you've done and learned while refurbishing yours. I'm sure I'll be asking you and others on the forum forum for assistance as I dive in to rebuilding mine.

  19. I agree with you, I saw Buddy Guy last month in Redding at the Cascade. It's amazing how easy he makes it look, and at 78 years young no less!
