  1. I have no idea how to measure it, (AC voltmeter?) but keep in mind sine waves are quite a bit more in gain/level than music signals. So keep that in mind and start off low with respect to volume control when using a10-20Hz sine wave, and watch the cone movement being careful. You'll know when you've gone too far when the driver cone starts rocking and making strange noises. Push it too far and it will go FRAP!!
  2. I bought a Loki... Having a tone control with some slight gain in combination with the passive volume control, sounds rather good to my ears parked in front of the 3255 eval board. I listen to compact discs. It is nice to use the tone controls to add a bit of bass to dead CDs, or tip up the top-end a bit. Or turn down overblown bass CDs, or turn down a hot top-end. Some CDs can't be helped... The tonality of the 3255 eval board with my speakers when just using a passive volume control, (between CDP and amp) has a overall dark sort of sound while having lots of resolution and black background. The Loki takes nothing away from the black background and high resolution, and adds a bit more open sound to the overall tonality. I'll always prefer my 2A3 DHT SET amp, and my Altec 345A EL34PP amp, but this set-up is a daily driver... Sorry about the dust...need to do some housekeeping...
  3. I was curious if the data/specifications indicate whether or not the cooling fan is controlled with a temperature sensor, or if the specs indicate just fan cooling with no temperature sensor. All I have noticed from looking at the specs is that some supplies could have an on/off switch for the cooling fan, or it just indicates forced air cooling.
  4. It seems DizRotus's Meanwell supply uses a cooling fan with a thermal control/sensor of some sort, where with your unit the fan is just "on". Do the Meanwell power supply specs/data mention whether they are fan cooled thermally, or just fan/air cooled? I've never noticed or paid enough attention when I browsed through the specs with regard to Meanwell supplies.
  5. Maybe just disable the fan, and see...

    So...

Too late. He's a permanent fixture.
  7. William and I had some personal message correspondence with the 3255 TI regarding power supplies. I was going to go with a Meanwell switching supply, but built a linear supply to save a few bucks. The supply is the same as what William uses with his. He went with a 300VA (32 or 34) Antek transformer, I'm using a 400VA Antek 34 volt transformer. It was only three bucks more... A 35 amp bridge rectifier is used. Overkill, but a good price. And two 15,000uF capacitors. I recall measuring 49.5 volts from the supply unloaded. How much voltage drop at idle or cranked up I have no idea, because I've never measured the supply loaded. It could be easily measured, however...now that you've sparked my interest. I doubt there would be much voltage sag with 30,000uF for the supply, and the capacitance from the (multiplier?) capacitors on the eval board. If you don't use the RESET switch, the circuit will DC couple and de-couple through the speakers upon power-up and power-down. William didn't have an issue with it, and quite a few others don't seem to mind the mild thump as well. I've been using the switch recently, because I am not very fond of the thump/pop through my spendy Faital pro drivers. The 3255 evaluation board seems to sound best after an hour of use. Mike
  8. Nice work. After borrowing/listening to a Schiit Loki for a week, I'm going to purchase a Loki for my TI 3255 eval board. I'm using a SYS passive volume control at the moment. Mike
  9. My Sister used to pour this all over everything. The mere sight of the stuff makes me gag.
