  1. Just to clarify.... The power coming into your house in the U.S. is single phase nominally 230 volts. It comes from a power transformer that has a center tap. We call the line from the center tap "neutral" At a single point in or near your house this neutral line is grounded. We call the two lines from the ends of the transformer "hot". If you measure the voltage from neutral to either of the "hot" lines you read 115 volts nominal. But across both hots you read 230 volts. If you look at the hots with respect to neutral on an oscilloscope they will be 180 degrees out of phase. But across both hots (the ends of the transformer windings) you will observe a single phase. This amplifier is set up to run off this single phase 230 volt power if you are REALLY going to push it to its limits. 7 channels x 550Watts@4 ohms = 3850Watts output power. If it is 75% effecient (this is a quess I don't know if they spec the effeciency) the input power required = 5133 Watts! 5133 Watts/115 volts = 44.6 Amps! but @230 volts 5133 Watts/230 volts = 22.3 Amps ahhh much better. babadono
  2. Gorm, Mine are on ALK ES crossovers also. Do you have them up and running yet? How far down are you padding them? Eric
  3. Neil, [Y] on the rework and soldering of the wiring. I also agree that with as short as the wires in that box are that any increase of gauge would matter. Eric
  4. Steven, Did you get it yet? How are you going to power it? With the adapter or do you have a 20 amp outlet? Eric
  5. Steven, OK, well thanks again. They say I'm getting one, I'll just trust it shows up. Eric
  6. Steven, Thanks for the heads up.[Y] On order. How did you find out about it? Eric
  7. Talk to Jack at Assistance Audio. He is the U.S. distributor for BMS. And when you get them hooked up I will be interested to know how far down you pad them. I've got mine down 13.7dB using taps on the 3619 autoformer. babadono
  8. The round red component on the lower right is a fuse. Is it still good?
  9. Hey Dean, By your first post I was not sure if you want data on any modified heritage or just Cornscalas. But since someone jumped in with their KHorn mods I'll do the same. 1) KHorns 2) Fastlane Audio Eliptrac squawker lens and Contrac tweeter lens. 3) BMS 4592MID on squawker, B and C DE38 on tweeter. 4) ALK ES KHorn set-- ES400 and ES5800 5) I think it is a 3619 in the ES KHorn set. 6) I've got the mids dialed back -13.7dB and the highs -7dB I also have a pair of Lascala with ALK ES500 and ES5800 crossover but I'm only using the bass bin on those because the tophat of the modified KHorn is just so sweet and powerful. Any more mids and highs is too much. At least in my room to my ears. babadono
  10. Great to know there are Steely Dan and Stan Clark listeners here[] Enjoy your latest set of KHorns and hold onto 'em babadono
  11. shepjk01, Those are beauttiful. Wish I was closer, they would be sold in a heartbeat. I want to build (or have built) a pair for myself. Do you have prints/plans? I have JWC's plans but thay don't have corner ports. Do yours have seperate cavities for each woofer? babadono
  12. I was thinking eliminate the adapter altogether and use a bolt on driver. Hi Dave et al, Any idea what type of horn (conical, expotential, tractix) this thing is? Or does that not matter with tweeters? It sure looks neat, but........ I think you will need a tweeter attenuator if you try that DE 38 (or a DE 10) for that matter. So an eliptical tweeter lens to go with the eliptrac squawker lens? babadono
  13. philly, I am still extremely curious, did it ever work? babadono
  14. What? Is real life and work stopping you from working on your speakers[] Damn I hate it when that happens! babadono
  15. Dr Moribus, Hmmm.... Can you swap the crossovers in the cornscalas to test your suspicion of it being a cap in the crossover? I own KHorns and Lascalas so I know with either of those it wold be relatively easy. Don't know about your Cornscalas. babadono
  16. This makes no sense, are you sure you understood him correctly. Dave [Y] Huh? What does listening monaural through one speaker have to do with modifying the crossover network for that one speaker? You need to sum the stereo signals much further back in the chain. babadono
  17. I am sorry, I don't mean to offend anybody.........But NO,NO,NO do not permanently defeat the safety ground on any piece of equipment that has a third prong for ground. It is there for a reason. It may be permissible to defeat it temporarily for troubleshooting purposes but keep your wits about you when doing so. babadono
  18. philly, Yes, this is the way I was trying to tell you to hook it up. Does it work? babadono
  19. philly, Only on channels 2 and 4 are the red and black reversed. babadono
  20. philly0116 Bummer with a capital B! I spoke yesterday with the guy who designed that amp or was at least on the design team at Fosgate Audioncs when it was produced. His name is Bob Popham. His current company is RJPC @ 970-245-4393 in Grand Junction Colorado. He confirmed that it should have worked the way I told you to hook it up. He was real easy to talk to and very knowledgeable. Perhaps he might be able to help further if you want to persue it. babadono
  21. djk, How is one to interpet these graphs? The Atlas driver vertical scale is at 1W or 1mW? The Selenium driver has two vertical scales. It looks like the Selenium driver puts out 126db at 5kHz with 1W. And >146db in the 700-800Hz region, is that possible? 146db? OMG! babadono
