  1. I usually avoid Emotiva for all items besides their amps and I wouldn’t mind trying their new speakers/subwoofers some day. I have purchased numerous items from Emotiva and the only pieces I was ever really happy with were the amplifiers. I wouldn’t hesitate to buy more amplifiers from them, pre/pros is a entirely different story. The TA-100 does look very interesting and would leave enough room in my budget, to get some 61’s. I will read up on the TA-100 this evening and see how the reviews are. I love me some blue lights so that feature alone, might be enough to push me over the edge. Thanks again Tim, you are always very helpful!
  2. I have been wanting to make this thread for sometime now but just never got around to it. As I sit here, watching The Star Wars in glorious 4K, I decided to make time to share my impressions of the living room HT I have been working on. Room size: 14 x 18 Gear list: Samsung UN65JS8500 Denon AVR-3300W Panamax 5100-PM B&K Reference 200.7 S2 Xbox One S (next to be upgraded) Klipsch KL-650 THX L/C/R Klipsch KS-525-THX (thanks teaman!) Martin Logan Dynamo 1000 (duals) Auralex Subdude x4 I have been buying and selling on the used market around my area, trying to find my definition of “perfect” sound and I am happy to report that I have finally achieved it! I sometimes made money doing this and sometimes lost, even turned into a bit of a game but I think this is mostly over. Met some pretty cool audio people taking this journey. The audio community seems to be packed with cool and friendly people! This system beats the 10 or so Definitive Technology systems, the various Martin Logan and Bowers & Wilkins systems I had tried in the past. I even prefer the sound from these more than the Palladiums I used to own. With that said, I would trade these THX Ultras back for Natural Palladiums in a heartbeat because the audio performance is similar enough that the aesthetics of the Palladiums makes them the winner in my book. Looks aside, these Ultras have the sound characteristics I have been searching for. I wanted to share my impressions so fellow members who are considering purchasing these fantastic speakers. I know this system is massively overkill for this sized room but I am trying to “future-proof” myself (who am I kidding!) as much as possible. Once I move, I will likely add 2 more 650’s with a coulple ceiling Ultras and get back into Rythmik subwoofers again. For now, all of this gear has my small living room feel and sound better than any public home theater I have ever been to. I might have finally found what I have been looking for! I know the Professional or the larger Heritage speakers would trounce what I am running but ignorance is truly bliss. Thought I would share some of my happiness, during these pretty dark days[emoji4] Forgot to say: Stay safe East Coast Family and Friends! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. I have owned RB-61’s and they are great. I will look into small amplifier options. I don’t mind going non powered speakers at all, was just trying to keep things simple.
  4. Tried this same thread over in the personal audio section but got zero replies. This section gets quite a bit more activity so hopefully some of you can chime in;) Hello All, Just moved into a new office and I am looking at adding a medium quality 2 channel setup. Here is what I am currently using: - Lenovo Yoga 920 - B&O BeoAy 3 (Bluetooth streaming from Yoga) Like the title mentions, I am looking to make a sound improvement. I know budget is everything with thes “help me build xxx” threads so let’s try to keep it around $500 and I am willing to go used or refurbished, to get better sound out of that budget. I can also spend more, of the additional money gets me greatly improved audio. I listen to everything from the 60’s hits all the way up to 90’s rap, with classic rock and country mixed in so my taste in music is pretty eclectic. I was just thinking about buying some powered speakers like The Sixes or AudioEngine A5+. I also was thinking about adding a DAC but that is where my audio knowledge dissipates drastically. I would love to hear your thoughts, to assist me in making the right decision. Thanks in advance guys!
  5. If that were my budget and I was amp shopping, I would seriously be considering this: https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=15594&gclid=CjwKCAjw8uLcBRACEiwAaL6MSY235eakbsPDg7XI2MztGez5R_9rnLpwcRkEPzlWJZgujN9AjildJRoCWMwQAvD_BwE The Monolith amps sure are getting high praise on the other audio forums. If you are shopping Paradound amplifiers, a member here is a dealer.. Contact MetropolisLakeOutfitters and he can get you great pricing.
  6. If I were in your shoes I would be looking at either a 3 channel amp, to handle the 3 main speakers or a 5 channel amp to add the main surrounds. You have an awesome receiver but having a dedicated amp will help free up some juice for your other channels. Just a thought. You have a killer system, BTW!
  7. Did you like the sound the 450 produced, when compared to the Heresy’s? If you did, I would buy the matching speakers, in the RP lineup that will fit in the spots the Heresy’s take up. Sell the Heresey’s and use that money for some matching RP surround speakers. This likely won’t be a popular opinion around these parts but the truth is, everyone has different ears which interrupt sounds differently. Many people get “steered” by people’s opinions instead of trusting your ears but it doesn’t sound like you are going to fall into that trap:) I much rather preferred the sound the RP series produced to the early Heresy’s I briefly owned.
  8. I put those two options out there because I am a fan of Audyssey room calibration and and Denon and Marantz are known for having pretty powerful amps. I am also a Pioneer Elite fan but I haven’t owned one of their newer models, within the last few years. You will have to do some research to figure out what brand and model receiver you like the best. With that size of a room, power won’t be an issue so focus on the features and the sound characteristics.

    What I Got Today!

Picked up another Martin Logan Dynamo 1000. I actually prefer this 12” sealed sub over the SVS SB2000 subs I used to own. Pretty happy! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. If that were my budget, I would seriously be considering either of these fine units: https://www.accessories4less.com/make-a-store/item/denavrx4400h/denon-avr-x4400h-9.2-ch-x-125-watts-networking-a/v-receiver-w/heos/1.html https://www.accessories4less.com/make-a-store/item/marsr7011/marantz-sr7011-9.2-ch-x-125-watts-networking-a/v-receiver-w/heos/1.html
  11. What is your budget and how big is the room?
  12. Klipsch needs to step up and do what is right by all their customers that are having issues with Bluetooth/WiFi and other connectivity issues. These are high dollar items and the fact that it seems Klipsch has abandoned their customers is pretty eye opening.
  13. Depending on your room size, you might not even notice a difference when just adding a single amp to the 4400. This statement coming from a guy guy using a 7 channel dedicated amplifier. Now if you have a large room, the XPA-3 is a beast and shouldn’t have any problems driving those speakers to extreme levels. You have made a few new posts and you seem a little confused. Have you tried the Emotiva forum, since it appears you are using basically all Emotiva gear? Having the XPA-3 run the front 3 speakers would be ideal as that amp puts out 200/channel at a minimum. It is a stout unit, I have owned 2 XPA-3’s and 2 XPA-5’s. Emotiva makes some nice AMPLIFIERS for the money.
  14. They are pretty large and I always had mine on some nice stands. With that said, these would hold them just fine: https://www.amazon.com/Mount-Universal-Clamping-Bookshelf-Mounting/dp/B01MZE0O8U/ref=mp_s_a_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1536095709&sr=8-7&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=large+speaker+wall+mounts&dpPl=1&dpID=41SvPd%2BBXvL&ref=plSrch You might need to remove the plinth, to really get them secured. The plinth has some overhang and some funky angles, that is why I mention it.
  15. So you are the one that snagged them😁 I was going to jump on them or the other pair of surrounds but they were already spoken for, by the time I woke up. Congratulations!
  16. ^^^ Agreed! Going refurbished will likely allow you to move up the receiver food chain and you will still have the same warranty. If my local Magnolia doesn’t have any open box/floor model receivers I am interested in. Accessories4less.com is my next stop.

  18. Magnetic grills are the bees knees!
  19. If $300 is your budget, you can get a much newer sub that will likely outlast the SW125 and easily out perform it for the same price, on the used market. Warning, DIY recommendations below..

Thanks to teaman, these beauties showed up today! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. Look what showed up today with all factory packaging and totally mint! Thank you again for creating this thread teaman! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. I’ve never even seen them come up for sale, here in the Seattle area. They look great to me!
  23. The content was waaay different waaay back then. *edit* This might come across a little harsh but that definitely wasn’t my intention. I have always have very good luck with all matching speakers, especially when it comes to these intense, modern movies and videos demanding soundtracks. and yes, I know Klipschhorns and Heresys would out perform my Ultra 2 system when properly calibrated. I just like to give the software the best chance to do it’s job, as possible;)
  24. Contact the OP, he is a dealer that offers great pricing.
  25. Don’t underestimate those little B&W’s. I owned them a few years ago, albeit briefly, but they are quite impressive. With that said, the RP centers (used to own the 450) are much larger and will definitely put out more and different sound. Even with it hall of the amazing room calibration these new receivers offer, I am still a huge timber match guy. The B&W’s have a much different sound characteristic so they likely won’t blend well with the Klipsch center. If you don’t want tower speakers, due to size restraints, the 160M’s would definitely match the Klipsch center and they will keep up with it’s output. Down the the rabbit hole, you will likely go from there..
