  1. Wow some great additions here!! boomer911 - I agree about the Heresy HT. The speakers rock for HT! I just picked up another single one locally for the 6th speaker rear surround. Of course I have the all Cornwall 5.1 channel HT "Media Room" but that also doubles as my main critical music listening room and for SACD and DVD-A you really need 5 full range speakers. For that application the Cornwalls perform much better then the Herseys. I did put the Heresys in the corners and I do like the sound much better. Due to recent posts in other sections I am thinking about ways to hang them as well. I need to put some thought as to the direction I want to go there. Tom Adams - Awesome trim work. I wish I had decent woodworking skills. I am getting better but I am not up to that level yet RobertP - I would also like to know where you got those Star Wars posters! Great setup too! All the other systems rock too! Thanks for posting them and lets keep the systems rolling in! Laters, Jeff

Lorenzo. ---------------- Sure I will try and do that for you in the next couple of days. Laters, Jeff
  4. Thanks guys I will pick up some Murphy's Wood Soap tonight to try. Laters, Jeff
  5. If you want to port your Heresy here is an example of how Klipsch did it from the factory: Another view mounted and painted: This is a HIP-II (Heresy II - Industrial and Ported Version) model that I use for my center channel in my Home Theater. I emailed the guys at Klipsch when I first got the speaker and they told me that it was made for nice clear voice projection and rolls off at about 60Hz. It makes an awesome center channel for HT since the true bass can be handled elsewhere. All the dialogue is crystal clear. Here is a link to my web page with the full specs http://www.madtomstudios.com/HomeTheater/klipsch_heresy_hip_ii.htm I would not use this speaker as a main or in a 2 channel only setup. I hope this helps you out. *** EDIT *** The guys at Klipsch were not 100% sure about the drivers and I have neve removed them to find out what they really are. Laters, Jeff
  6. I have two HWO speakers that I have re-applied the BLO finish to with great results. I have just picked up a single HWL for my rear center channel that works fine but I would like to get the finish back on it. Can I prep it and apply BLO to it like I did with the others or do I have to do something different because of the lacquer finish? Also the HWL is a good bit darker then the HWO speakers. Is this a normal result of the different finishing process? This is not a big deal to me just curious. Thanks for your help! Jeff
  7. That grill cloth looks like the brown grill cloth on my HWL Heresy from the same era so I think it is probably orginal. Laters, Jeff

Do you have room to pull the chairs further into the room and put the Heresy surrounds back towards the corners? They look like killer headphones as they are now Doug ---------------- You know what? I never thought of that and neither has anyone who has come over. I will give that a whirl this weekend. I am toying with the idea of mounting them up close to the ceiling but your idea may work as well. Laters, Jeff
  9. Just to add a couple of more pictures to this thread. Here are some pictures of the 1965 Vertical Cornwall II that I am using for my Center Channel in my Home Theater setup. Laters, Jeff
  10. First off once again some great systems and theaters. They give me lots of ideas on how to finish mine up. Ok I have finally made some progress on my front projection system. Just a little background on the equipment. I purchased the notebook for a buck, the projector for $10.00, the Klipsch GMX 5.1 amp/sub/decoder for $50, the APEX DVD player for $50, and I have been collecting the Heresy's over a period of 4 years with a front projection system in mind. So this is really HT on the cheap. A friend of mine knew someone who was giving away a screen and he asked me if I wanted it. I said YES!. So I have finally have it mounted and this is what it looks like now. Before this the room was rotated 180 deg and I was projecting on the wall. Front Shot with the Screen up: Front Shot with the Screen down: Front Shot with no lights on in the room: Shot of the Projector, XBox, HTPC (Notebook), etc... Laters, Jeff
  11. Heyas Justin - Glad to see you posting!.. I wish I could help you out with your question but I have no idea what to tell ya. Laters, Jeff
  12. Oh yeah I go to the famous Texas Motorplex all the time. I have a '83 Mustang with a built 347 that I race. Although this will not be around much longer as I am going to put that motor in my '67 Ranchero. Don't know what will happen to the 'stang at that point. I have some pics and specs here on my web page: http://www.madtomstudios.com/Cars/page3.htm It says sold but the guy backed out. I need to update that. Laters, Jeff

I have to stress that I am not strong in math so many readers are probably already laughing at my noob error. I realize that 16:9, technically, is at its lowest common denominator, but something seemed weird when I suddenly thought about it. I don't know ... it's late afternoon and the synapsis are not at full efficiency. ---------------- Ah yes the math is slightly wrong. 12:9 or 16:12 would be the same as 4:3 since 3 goes into 9 three times but does not evenly divide into 16. Another way to look at it is that 16:9 is the same as 5.33:3 Or your could divide the numbers as suggested above Laters, Jeff
  14. WOOT!! Great to see all the awesome Theaters that have been posted in here since the last time I looked at this thread. Really some simply awesome systems!! Rock On!! (err should that be Watch On??) Laters, Jeff
  15. Thanks for the KISS recomendations. I guess I will take a stab at one of those mentioned and see what happens! Laters, Jeff

After this I plan on doing a center channel out of an empty corn cabinet, & it will be black to match the TV etc. That one will be a much bigger challenge, since the cabinet is in very bad shape. I may even re-do the motorboard to rotate the horns. ---------------- I have not completed the grills yet but I have ordered the grill holders and grill cloth from Parts Express so it won't be long now! In the meantime feel free to look at my system profile for pictures of my system or simply click here Mad Tom Studios Here are some pictures (not the best but you get the idea) The woofers are starting to look gray, I have often wondered if there was some way to dye them. Laters, Jeff
  17. Wow great to see another set of Cornwalls getting a second chance!! Please keep us updated on the progress. I will add to the Cornwall Decorator history by saying that mine have a flush motorboard and two port openings. By the time that I got them there were not any logos on them. I sanded and painted them a flat black which I think came out rather nice. I plan on adding a half grill to cover the woofer but keep the horns exposed. Laters, Jeff
  18. ---------------- On 4/5/2005 7:37:02 AM JJKIZAK wrote: I also saw it on PBS on my HDTV. In my opinion the video was digital 16 x 9 as way too many things were out of focus. If that's their idea of High Def they have a real problem. They are cheating just like the golf tournaments and other shows claiming to be high def when in fact they are digital 16 x 9. My Sony HDV camcorder totally blows away the Crossroads video. The only thing in common with Crossroads and high def is the picture aspect---16 x 9. When you see an audiance shot with the audiance "blurred" it is not High Def. The NCAA basketball High Def had people in the far away seats in total sharp focus and in this respect I am not talking about close ups of people with the background out of focus. So I really don't care what PBS says, Crossroads was not High Definition. They might have transmitted a 16 x 9 program in high definition which they do all the time. But the source was not high definition. It's what you start with, and in the case of high definition concerts you must have hi def cameras, not 16 x 9 digital cameras. You can broadcast anything in hi def but it will look like crap if it did not start out with a hi def camera. For instance: I use a VHS camcorder to take a video of my family and then it is broadcast on PBS in hi def, it is not hi def but VHS broadcast in a hi def system and it still looks like VHS crap. JJK ---------------- Sigh..ok whatever I am done with this we have already trashed a useful thread enough. Laters, Jeff

You can tell because all of the people in the audiance shots in the background are out of focus. HD you can see their zits. A lot of TV programs are doing this because the ordinary person cannot tell the difference. Remember that it's how the program source starts out, Film, DV 16 x 9, High Definition---You have to understand that HDTV looks at film, Digital widescreen, old pictures, blown up letterbox, etc.and HD and Film look the best and the nod going to HD live for the very best. Plus you are viewing it from a DVD disc which is 480p, not HD by a very wide margin. HD is 1080i and if you are viewing the Crossroads disc on an HDTV you are only seeing 480p. My assesment of the video quality on the Crossroads disc is just average on my Sony HDTV. The sound and sound mix however are exceptional. JJK ---------------- Perhaps I should have been more specific in my statement saying that the Festival was recorded live in HD by the PBS station WNET for broadcast on PBS-HD as a "pledge event". It was HD when I saw it on PBS and I am assuming that DVD is just a down-rezzed "copy" of the HD source. Laters, Jeff
  20. Big second, third, or whatever for Eric Claptons Crossroads. This event was filmed in HD so the video is stunning, the sound is awesome, and it was a thrill to see everybody playing together. I will also give thumbs up for the Blue Man Group - Complex Rock Tour Live Can anyone suggest a good Kiss or Guns and Roses Concert DVD? I like the bands but not enough to know which DVD's are awesome. Laters, Jeff
  21. Chris - Sorry to hear about this! If there is anything I can do to help please let me know. What are your talents? Laters, Jeff
  22. Yup that is exactly what I did! Take a look at my web page, I have links to pictures from the start till now. Every time I make a major change I take another picture. I would say that it has taken me about 3 years to get the system I have now. Laters, Jeff
  23. I use a HK AVR510 to drive my rear surrounds and center Cornwalls and a Fisher 500B tube receiver to drive the front main Cornwalls. I think the HK equipment is a great match for the Cornwalls if you want to go totally solid state. Laters, Jeff
  24. Cornwalls baby....they rock! Laters, Jeff
  25. WOW!!! Lots of great setups have been added since the last time I was able to check out this thread! Keep them coming I love looking at pictures of fine Klipsch setups. Laters, Jeff
