  1. So... I took the pic of the window in a church in Manila, on the first trip I took there in early 2007. I added the text to use for Christmas cards the next year. If I'm not on here before Christmas, everyone have a Merry and Blessed Christmas!
  2. I used a Crown XLi800 with my LS when I hauled them out to use at a huge party, over 100 folks there. They rocked quite well. It may be built offshore (China), but it's been wonderful. It's a tad heavier than the XLs series digital amps. 300wpc / 600 watts, bridged mono. Binding posts and Neutrik Speakon connections. $339 at Sweetwater. If this is for your own enjoyment you probably don't need bigger, but they have them. When you check back in, let us know how the refurbishment goes on the Souncraftsmen gear.
  3. You mean right where his vocals come in? Really obvious... Very much there in my inexpensive Sony headphones I have at work,
  4. Shortening the piece that resonates, i.e., putting a brace in place, will raise the frequency. Depending on the material (3/4 inch ply or thicker mdf) it may not resonate at the higher frequency at all or the level (amount) of the resonance is lower and the issue is solved.
  5. I used a Crown xls800 on my MWM Bass cabs with LaScala tops. How big an outside area?
  6. I'm still going to build his GET-SET-GO 2A3 amp. P-to-P as the boards are long gone. There's not that many parts.
  7. Most of the loudness wars have ended, but we are suffering from some years of it in the archives.
  8. This is very true A lot of modern mastering for CDs has also been terrible. I think the music industry is still figuring out how to record - period.
  9. This was what was reported by a former Klipsch employee. The braces had to be hand fitted and was cost prohibitve.
  10. Craig... this may be of interest. It's from the forums for Ardour, a powerful DAW package. Someone asked about recording vinyl to digital. https://discourse.ardour.org/t/digital-riaa/88277 Again, I would say you should use a good phono preamp into the line input on the Scarlett.
  11. A couple observations... There are some really, really smart people there, including a lot of Klipscheads. IIRC, the resonance in the LS is partly to do with the parallel doghouse and cabinet side walls. The Peavey FH-1 doesn't have that issue. Probably something they learned in designing them after the La Scala came out. -- Now, I've been here 10 years longer than you... doesn't mean I know more, doesn't mean I know less. I'm here for all the friends I've met, and to pass on what real knowledge I've gained, hopefully to counter what is sometimes wrong information. It looks like the majority of posts are in the lounge section, which is mostly us being friends, not helping out with Klipsch questions. Those posts have really tapered off in the past few months.
  12. I use a phono pre into my interface, and record at 88.2kHz. I certainly don't need to make dsd file. IIRC, records/LPs are about the equivalent of an 8bit DAC. If you aren't using a phono preamp, your cartridge loading will be all whacked. There's not just an inverse eq change but phasing and timing changes going on. (I'm not belittling DSD, it's the most accurate archive format. I just don't see it worth the time and trouble unless you work for the National Archives)
  13. You get more friendly help there. You can also get bad advice there, but this forum isn't exempt from that either.
  14. Craig, the Scarlett versions are all pretty much ok, and probably better than what you will get off of your LPs. The higher the sampling rate, the better it will be, but your file sizes can get really big. You really can't go wrong with any of the Focusrite equipment, Do you use Windows or Apple OS? Make sure you have the correct drivers. They can be downloaded from the Focusrite website under support, then downloads.
  15. Not yet.... life has been very busy for me. Maybe I can get to it this weekend. Planning on some time to work on the huge horns first.
  16. I don't know about the sub out in the middle, but you should get superb imaging with nothing between your Forte's. I ran my LS like that and there was spooky real imaging.
  17. Best thing I've heard all day! Congrats on finally having a place to call home.

    Jokes?

I grew up in Illinois, which means, for the most part, that I have a newscaster kind of voice with no discernable accent. I do tend to start sounding like anyone I am conversing with. Most people do that, some more than others.
  19. Plus, an open area under the speakers will change the bass response.
  20. I usually use VLC, as it will play most anything. https://www.videolan.org/vlc/features.html

    Fraziers...

Oh, nice stuff. Obviously I don't get out much to hear live sound.
