  1. I am thankful that, even though I lost my wife at the end of last December, there is the possibility that my heart is being drawn to another (and her heart to mine). Every day is a new day.
  2. I know, totally out of character for me. Your line reminds me of a joke I recently heard, but I want to protect what little good reputation I have left, so I won't post it here.
  3. I don't need another set of speakers. A woman would be nice, though, with spank.
  4. Does a person have to put a smiley face in, to show they are joking? I didn't think so.
  5. There are quite a number of issues with Safari, and Apple needs to get with it. Blocking popups is one of them. You can either allow or not allow, with no ability to allow popups only on certain sites. Sheesh, even MS has that one right. Bruce
  6. The better news is that vista doesn't look quite as 'fisher-price' as John says. The new IE, besides tabs (one of the reasons I moved to Firefox) has a feature, funtion, where you can see all of the tab pages IN one window (sorta like a slide sorter in Power Point). That is nifty, but not worth the switch. Security features would be a big improvement. Since I do tech support at a college, we have to try and learn a lot of aal the newest. We have just been rolling out XP on machines this past year, so vista won't be installed for a while yet. BUT, students will be bringing in new laptops with vista, and we need to know wheer they moved everything. It does LOOK a little more serious. Perhaps a slight move to the look of Leopard (next version of OSX) cheers
  7. My oldest, Invidiosulus, went to see them in Atlanta on Monday. From what he told me, I wish I had gone. [] Bruce
  8. Bob, So parallels works like Virtual PC then? VPC, now owned by MS is an awful resource hog, and the performance it very poor. Is it a third party application, or something Apple supplies? EDIT: I just found it Bob. Thanks. It has to be faster and more efficient than VPC is. Bruce
  9. The newer Intel Macs are already in their second generation, with the newer dual core 2 processors. Windows won't run very fast under Virtual PC, but it will run. The dual boot option can give you the speed you might want. VPC on a G4 will really slow down the computer. I know from personal experience. I have a good friend who works for Intel. They are really going to be putting the pressure back on AMD in the next year or so. 'Bout time too. I have had a G4 Mac Mini here at the house, on loan from work, so I can get used to the way it works, as we are once again allowing faculty to purchase Macs. And a lot of students are coming in with them now, too. I can't say it's better, just different. Just like different tube or SS equipment. From an admin perspective, the Macs still don't play well with a Windows network. The only way to get windows shares to work is to turn of some of the security features. It won't happen where I work, nor will it happen in any business that values security. At home or in a smaller office, or total Mac environment, there would not be that issue. Bruce
  10. Mine just makes a little burp, but is a little disconcerting. I don't think Joshua's makes any sound at all on powerup or down. I'll have to ask him. It' sthe gain control that makes a racket until it is a little warmed up. Loud crackles and such. After five minutes it's quiet. Bruce
  11. Probably not HIIs then. They seem a lot more balanced to me. They still sound better when cranked, though. Are you goona get paid in speakers or dollars when you start the new job. [] You still headed down to Louisiana...? Bruce
  12. My 430 would make noise for the first five minutes or so after powering on, when adjusting the gain. I was going to chalk it up to aged caps in the PS. I can't imagine they did that when new. If I let it sit for a few minutes before doing anything, it is very quiet. I just figured I would treat it like a tybe amp. [] Bruce
  13. Yeah, but you have to put up with Van Alstine's attitude.
  14. Yes... The 430 doesn't have jumpers between the pre and power section. You could, I suppose, feed in the tape loop. You would probably be repeating some of the ciruitry, though, and not do you much good. Or go ahead and try it. Maybe feed the tape out of the 3480, into the 430 aux input. Then you would just use the gain on the 430 to adjust the volume. Congrats on the 430. I tool mine back out of my system, until I can replace the caps. Plus, it doesn't sound as great as the Moondogs. It's still great for the money though, and I'm not knocking it.
  15. Years ago, I got an ST-70 (tube) and an ST-120 (SS) from an acquaintance. I sold the ST-120, and kept the ST-70. It was the best deal I may have ever made. The ST-120 is a dangerous amp as I recall. I think djk, if he reads this, can fill you in on the details of this amp. The one I sold met an early demise because a cat pissed on it. That might have saved the guys speakers. Perhaps the cat knew the real worth of the amp. As for the rest, I don't know. btw, I made a profit on the amp, and only paid $50 for the ST-70. What part of Atlanta do you hail from? Bruce
  16. Just trim those inches off thesides of the hornin the middle. You probably wouldn't even notice it. []
  17. That's really funny! Does it have that cheese curd flavor? We have a couple of pretty decent wineries about 20 minutes from me. No cheese flavor. Damon, Only kidding with you. I lived in Waterloo for a few years, and all we had there was a pickle factory. We have a winery within a few miles of where I live in North Georgia, although I have never tried any yet. Bruce
  18. Speaking of sheep, I just heard a review of the new Maria Muldaur album, where she covers some Bob Dylan tunes. The reviewer said he never caught the line, "Ghengis Kahn, he could not keep - his men supplied with sheep" until he heard Muldaur's version. Then it all made sense.
  19. The early country rock band, Mason Proffit, used Mac amps for their PA, at least early on. Original members Terry Talbot and John Michael Talbot wrote most of the music as I recall. Terry and John Michael, became Christians at one point, and the band split up. John Michael became a Catholic and started a small monastery, although music was still important to him, while his brother Terry toured in the evangelical camp. Terry has joined up with the other original members and is again performing as Mason Proffit. John Michael still performs and records his own flavor of contemporary Christian music. I imagine that they don't still use Mac equipment for their PA use. Bruce
  20. Phil, Thanks. Actually looks REALLY good in that pic. There is some checking, but I have held off working on them. Bruce
