So on a 7.1 receiver there are left and right rear center channels? And there are DVDs that have 8 different tracks?

I hope this doesnt come off as sounding really uninformed but can somebody explain the differences between 5.1, (which I have a good handle on) 6.1 and 7.1. I think I understand the 6.1 idea is to have a center rear but what are side surrounds and is my HK obsolete now?

I think that is a very good price for the 5.5's and the center channel but especially the 5.5's. If they werent abused, and in a non-smoking environment, they should last for many more years. Good luck and welcome.

I may in fact pick up the DVD but I can attest to the show being phenomenal as I saw them at the Turning Stone Casino 2 years ago and plan on going again in early November. I love that sound. I believe the design is referred to as "infinite baffle" design and I remember seeing pics that are probably the pics to which you are referring. It was pretty interesting. If you can do a search with "infinite baffle" you probably will find it. TheEye, How would you apportion your listening habits between music and HT? If its 90% music, and you will be moving often, and you are on a budget, I personally dont think the KSW-12 is such a bad choice. With listening levels that arent stratospheric, the KSW can add some valuable lower end to your mains. If on the other hand you will be watching a lot of DVDs and you like it pretty loud, then you better spend the bucks and upgrade. Just my humble opinion. Good luck. Is AMC a chain of theatres of some quality designation? I find that in my local mall cineplex the sound isnt as good as in my den. Usually plenty loud but a little lacking in the bottom octave. Obviously it isnt easy producing deep bass in a theatre-sized room but... kjohnson, Im not sure that a Cornwall on top to that entertainment unit is a good idea. Also consider that none of the Heritage line is magnetically shielded so placement near a TV tube can be tricky. Good luck with whatever you decide. Brian, I have the AVR 500 too and as far as sound goes, I am extremely pleased. I have Heresys and JBL 4638 across the front, 2 more Heresys in the back. I have had a couple of annoying problems with the HK however, and after some internet searching discovered that I wasnt alone. Specifically, the HK will occasionally change its volume setting spontaneously!! It has also just shut off for no reason (was playing at very low volume). Finally, and I am really not sure if this is the fault of the HK or not but I cant get DTS to work properly on DVDs that feature it. I have taken it to an authorized HK repair facility and they said that none of the problems I described surfaced in 3+ hours of testing. Oops, did I get off topic there?? I am sure you will get great advice from the many extremely knowledgeable people in this forum, but I can predict that one of the recurring themes will be timbre matching. A center and rears from the Heritage line of speakers will work quite nicely and those from other lines do not match up all that well. Good luck and welcome. I think there is tendency among us to automatically assume that newer is better. I have never personally auditioned the rf-7 but I have extensive experience with my brothers LaScalas and have often wondered how the old girls would stack up against the "new and improved" Klipsch line-up. Ray, I have little to no experience with the Legend or reference lines but I dont think most of us would consider them junk. I do have experience with the Heritage line, specifically LaScalas and Heresys and IMHO its a matter of personal preference. The Heritage line is sometimes accused of being too "bright". I personally like bright. Also dont overlook the dimensional differences. That Belle is wide compared to the KLF-30. That probably doesnt help much but good luck. Let us know your impressions.
